Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) for the C&I electricity market:

InduBox GSM modems are connected via RS-232 or RS-485 to iTron SL7000 jndustrial electricity meters - 56

to 100 kVA market. Almost 30.000 Bausch Datacom GSM/GPRS modems have been supplied to Belgium’selectricity company, the former Electrabel, now Eandis, Ores and Sibelga.

In the application a Bausch dial-out host system (19” racks with ISDN and PSTN modems, connected to the ‘TIM’ meter server) communicates with the Bausch PSTN and GSM modems in the field. Once the analog PSTN or digital ISDN data connection is set up, the MV90 data collection system acquires the data from the SL7000 meters.

Remote monitoring & alarming of electricity substations:

eRTU and eVCC in charging units for electric vehicles:

The eLoad family (eRTU & eVCC) provides a full control ‘mode3’ (IEC 61851-22) and GPRS & Ethernet communication system for electrical charging units. Belgian companies eNovates & Blue Corner are playing a pioneering role in the development of a complete infrastructure with state-of-the-art hardware and back office.

Infrax, Belgian electricity distribution company, is using the Bausch DinBox RTU to guard and monitor each transformer substation in their 10 kV distribution network using the input information for online load flow calculation. Secondly all short circuit indicators are connected to the DinBox RTU: in case of a power loss in the grid, all necessary data will be available to minimize the loss of power according to the European directives.

To communicate with the ABB SCADA back office system, apart from the international IEC-60870-104 protocol,

ABB Sweden developed for Infrax the GPRS NMKD-3085 ASCII communication protocol.

Integration of PSTN socket modems for POS systems:

More than 150.000 Bausch SMD24xx PSTN socket modems have been integrated over the years in cash registers of Olivetti and D.A. Sistemi for PSTN communication with the host infrastructure.

Belgium use DinBox RTU to perform control activities and send automatic (alarm) messages by SMS. The RTU is integrated in Oxyfix and Kokosbiobed water-purification-stations and controls the pumps by relay outputs.

Dutch company Koenders Instruments BV, specialist in solutions for hydrometrics, commissioned Bausch to develop a logger for water level measurements. The GPRS device connects to a master host using FTP and IEC 60870-5-104 communication protocols.
