You and your family should always feel healthy, comfortable, safe and protected. That’s why
we believe stewardship in the home design and build process should be about more than
just the environment. We focus on four holistic factors that have a dramatic impact on your
physical, emotional and mental well-being, as well as the environment: health, energy, water
and smart home technology.
The following are just some of the many features and options we offer to enhance your
quality of life, protect the environment and keep your family safe. For more information
about options for personalization, contact your Community Sales Manager.

IMPROVED INDOOR AIR QUALITY
Clean air is essential to optimal health and in many cases, indoor air
quality can be worse than outdoor air quality. Common products like paint
and carpeting can release harmful VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds)
that cause short- and long-term damage to your health. Mold, dust and
pet dander can cause headaches, allergies and respiratory issues among
other problems. That’s why we make every effort to improve indoor air
quality with a focus on low VOC products, moisture management and
superior filtration systems that clean the air to provide a safe environment
for you and your family.
All Fielding Homes feature:
• Green Label Plus certified carpet padding
• Superior air filtration systems (MERV 11) that capture more airborne
particles than standard air filtration systems
• Moisture management products like housewrap, flashing, and ice and
water shield to prevent mold
Low VOC products including:
• Paints from Sherwin-Williams®
• Sealants and caulking compounds
• Flooring for both hard surfaces and carpet
• Flooring adhesives
• Low formaldehyde emissions from Timberlake Cabinetry
(per the CARB Air Toxic Control Standards)
Your family’s health is our top priority. That’s why we’ve designed your
home with materials and features that promote wellness and improve your
quality of life, including:

Additional personalization options:
• Hard surface flooring throughout the home to minimize allergens
• Upgraded filtration systems for specific health concerns
• Safe for healthcare environments, MERV 16 systems filter out even the
smallest particles
• For hospital-grade filtration, combine UV lights with MERV 16 filtration
systems which reduce bacteria and mold in the air
A FOCUS ON NUTRITION
The average American diet consists of too many sugars, processed foods
and “bad” fats that gradually weaken immune function, leading to a
multitude of health issues. We’ve designed and equipped kitchens and our
communities with healthy eating habits in mind.
• Large refrigerators ranging from 21.9 to 27.8 cubic feet allow for plenty
of fresh food storage
• Double-basin sinks let you minimize contamination between fresh foods
and meats
• A variety of solid surface countertop options that are easily sterilized
for proper food preparation
• Choose to add electrical outlets in flex spaces or garages for additional
refrigerators or freezers

WATER PURITY
We know how important the quality of your drinking water is. That’s why
we offer reverse osmosis under-sink filtration that removes water impurities
at your kitchen sink, or whole house water filtration systems which help
provide consistent high-quality water for the entire home.
AMPLE NATURAL LIGHT
Natural light is vital to mental and physical health, improving mood, brain
function and sleep quality. At Fielding Homes, we have carefully designed
our floor plans to offer as much natural light as possible with more
windows compared to homes of similar style and price. These designs
provide enhanced connectivity between indoor and outdoor spaces while
also reducing dependence on electricity.
Additional personalization option:
• Innovative solar light tubes that add natural light from above and
reduce the need for artificial lighting
PROMOTING FITNESS
Physical activity affects your heart, weight, bone and brain function,
and reduces stress. It’s one of the most important things you can do to
maintain and better your health, but it can be difficult to find time to work
out on a regular basis.
To promote physical fitness, our communities have been carefully
designed to provide plenty of green space and easy access to walking and
bike trails, so you can get your workout right outside your door.
Additional personalization option:
• With flex spaces in many of our floor plans, you can create a home gym or
yoga and barre room, so you don’t have to leave your home to be active

Fielding Homes are fundamentally built with energy efficiency in mind,
so you can enjoy lower utility bills, increased comfort and the peace of
mind that comes with a reduced impact on the environment. We use the
HERS Energy Index rating process— the industry standard for measuring
a home’s energy efficiency — to ensure we are utilizing energy efficient
products and the home and its ductwork system are tight, meaning
maximum efficiency in every home we build.
HIGH-TECH HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONING
All Fielding Homes include an energy-efficient Lennox 14 SEER air
conditioner and gas furnace that can be connected to a solar power
system. And for single-story homes that have a second floor added, rather
than adding a second gas furnace, a heat pump is used for the second
floor, which is more efficient than using a second furnace.
INSULATION
Fielding Homes include R13 or R15 insulation on exterior walls, and attic
insulation is standard with R30 or R38, based on code requirements.*
R-value measures resistance to heat flow, so the higher the R-value, the
more efficient your home is which lowers your energy bills. Homes built
prior to 2012 likely have a lower R-value due to building code changes.
All of our homes are tested for insulation leaks through third-party HERS
raters and installed per Grade 1 standards, ensuring maximum efficiency
and comfort for you and your family. There are three grades of insulation
with Grade 1 being the best; the insulation is installed according to the
manufacturer’s instructions, filling the cavity completely and encapsulated
with no gaps or compression.
WINDOWS
All Fielding Homes include Low-E3 Windows, two steps above the industry
standard of Low-E windows. Low-E (or low emissivity) windows contain
an invisible metal coating that reflects the sun’s rays, resulting in reduced
solar heat transfer into the home. Low-E3 windows provide three total
layers of this reflective coating for superior energy efficiency.
*Based on the Energy Conservation Building Code, communities in the Raleigh area are in
climate zone 4, which requires R-15 and R-38 insulation for walls and ceilings respectively.
Charlotte-area communities are in climate zone 3, which requires R-13 insulation for walls
and R-30 insulation for ceilings.

LIGHTING
With plenty of natural light coming from windows and optional solar
tubes, Fielding Homes help reduce the need for artificial lighting. Most
light fixtures in our homes feature CFLs (compact fluorescent bulbs), while
hallway lights and many additional fixtures are powered by LED bulbs.
These bulbs use less energy and last longer than traditional incandescent
light bulbs.
APPLIANCES
When it comes to reducing your energy use, even the smallest details
can have a big impact. All appliances in our homes are ENERGY STAR®
certified appliances, including the standard 50-gallon electric water
heater. ENERGY STAR certified appliances help consumers save money on
operating costs by reducing energy use without sacrificing performance.
Additional personalization options:
• Upgrade from 14 SEER to 15 SEER air conditioning unit for added
efficiency. Our 15 SEER system is 95 percent efficient and includes an
energy-saver blower motor and Power Saver technology.
• Upgrade from 14 SEER to 19 SEER air conditioning unit for maximum
efficiency. Our 19 SEER system includes a variable speed blower that
uses 2/3 less electricity than a standard motor, lowering bills while
providing exceptional comfort. The 19 SEER is also solar ready and
iComfort and Wi-Fi enabled, allowing it to connect to compatible
thermostats for the ultimate in temperature control.
• Insulation: Go from R13 to R15 for exterior walls and from R30 to R38 for
attics to increase energy efficiency and temperature control.
• Lighting: Opt for dimmer switches and outdoor floodlights with motion
sensors to eliminate wasted energy.
• Appliances: Switch to a tankless water heater which offers exceptional
energy savings, only heating water when you need it.

With much of the world’s population living in water-stressed regions,
water is a precious natural resource, and we all must do our part to
conserve it. That’s why we offer the following features to ensure every
Fielding Home uses water wisely.
LANDSCAPING AND OPTIONAL IRRIGATION
Our homes are landscaped with native Bermuda grass, for a beautiful
lawn that requires minimal work and less water. An optional sub metered
irrigation system lets you monitor your water usage and understand how
much is being used.
LOW-FLOW FIXTURES
All faucets, showerheads and toilets are low-flow, which means they use
less water than typical code fixtures without sacrificing performance.
Faucets and showerheads are also WaterSense approved, meaning they
provide maximum water efficiency.
Additional personalization options:
• Irrigation system with rain sensors so the system doesn’t turn on when
it’s raining, wasting water.
• Irrigation system with smart controls that factor in types of plants,
humidity and forecasted weather to use water only when absolutely
necessary.
