BUSINESSALLIANCE
As the newly elected Chair of the St. Michael Board of Trustees during this very challenging time, I have tried looking at this through the eyes of our faith and what our mission is as Christians in a world that, at times, clearly struggles with grave injustices.
When washing the feet of His Disciples, Jesus shows us Servant Leadership. Leadership that loves others as God loves us. Leadership that serves others as Jesus serves us. All of our gifts are meant to be shared and “given away,” not carelessly but thoughtfully, prayerfully, and with the greatest of compassion for the vulnerable.
As a business owner, you well know the ups and downs of a business cycle, and we now find ourselves in a time of great uncertainty. Yet, we must think of the future of our young people and what example we want to pass on to them. A Catholic education places love of neighbor, along with love of God, as the highest priority. That is our mission, to know truth, love God, and serve others. Faith in action!
Thank you for your consideration to join the SMA Business Alliance, helping young people find their true identity as a beloved child of God and a servant to others.
Sincerely,
Lamar Hunt, Jr.MEMBER OF THE FOUNDING FAMILY KANSAS CITY CHIEFSOWNER OF THE KANSAS CITY MAVERICKS ST. MICHAEL BOARD OF TRUSTEES CHAIR
CommunityAmerica is proud to support St. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School, and I’m personally honored to serve in a leadership role on the Board. I’ve attended Catholic schools throughout my educational years and have benefitted immensely from the experience.
Education is a pillar of CommunityAmerica’s philanthropic outreach in the Kansas City community. We believe if we can impact our area’s youth through education, we are setting them up for success. A solid education also increases the likelihood the next generation will experiencefinancial peace of mind in their daily lives, which is our organization’s mission. Our community is positioned very well by St. Michael’s approach to excellencein education, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.
Sincerely,
Lisa GinterCEO, COMMUNITYAMERICA CREDIT UNIONST. MICHAEL BOARD OF TRUSTEES VICE CHAIR

WHO WE ARESt. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School (SMA) calls young men and women to embrace their God-given gifts in order to KNOW TRUTH, LOVE GOD and SERVE OTHERS as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Built on the legacy of Archbishop O’Hara, St. Mary’s and De La Salle high schools, SMA was established in 2017 as a Catholic, diocesan, co-educational high school providing students in 9th through 12th grade a Christ-centered, safe environment in which to excel academically and to grow spiritually. ACADEMIC EXCELLENCESt. Michael provides quality academic programs designed for individual success. Learning challenges are faced through individualized support and collaborative efforts. SMA is also the first Catholic high school in America with an Aviation Program. Students are able to use their talents, technology and our entire community to explore multiple academic areas of interest. STUDENT LEADERSHIPSMA employs a school-wide Community system to further its mission and provide an avenue for building strong, lasting relationships. By separating students into three communities, each having six smaller “houses,” our young men and women exercise their leadership skills, build camaraderie and establish a sense of family. With 80 student leadership positions available, the community system encourages the development of future leaders. AFFORDABLE CATHOLIC EDUCATIONSt. Michael the Archangel Catholic High School is committed to making Catholic education affordable for all families. There is currently about a 30% difference between the actual cost of education and student tuition. This amount is covered by subsidies raised by the SMA Advancement Office. In addition to this subsidy, 82% of SMA students receive some sort of financial assistance. We depend on the generosity of businesses, corporations, philanthropic organizations and interested supporters toward this end.
