Sunny Land Tours is your key to CostaRica and, when you book with us,you're supporting ecotourism in themost concrete way possible, byproviding an opportunity for localchildren to experience it, too. Childrenwho can ensure its future. Sunny Landsupports an environmentally-consciousAdopt a School program; every vacationsold sends one child to the NationalInstitute of Biodiversity (INBIO) inCosta Rica to participate in a biodiversityeducational program. INBio is a non-governmental, non-profit associationthat promotes better understanding ofthe value of biodiversity in order toimprove the quality of life. The programincreases awareness about biodiversityamong children and the understandingof the possibilities to incorporate thisimportant natural resource in the social,

economic, intellectual and spiritualdevelopment of Costa Rican society.Your automatic contribution to thisprogram, referred to as “Adopt aschool”, provides transportation andentrance to INBioparque, guided tour,take-home learning materials and lunchto less fortunate rural and urban schoolchildren and institutions such as theHellen Keller School for the Blind andvisually impaired, who otherwise wouldnot have the means or opportunity toparticipate in this educational program.Sunny Land Tours has enabled thou-sands of children to take part in thisprogram. We are also working with theNational Institute of Biodiversity todevelop and fund an interactive exhibitfor the blind and visually impaired, inan effort to share a glimpse of nature’sbeauty with those that have challengedsight or none at all. We even bringpeople together under this program byorchestrating visiting school groupsfrom the U.S. to meet their Costa Ricancounterparts during their tour atInbioparque. Here nature provides theperfect backdrop for a cultural exchangeand a greater awareness of the impor-tance their visit to Costa Rica brings. Byunderstanding and appreciating biodi-versity these kids are becoming strong supporters of the nature conservationwhich in turn will determine the futureof the natural wonders that are the coreof the ecotourism industry in CostaRica. Supporting responsible tourism isthe key to Sunny Land’s success. Make this vacation experience not onlymemorable but meaningful too!

Happy Travels!

The Certification in SustainableTourism Program - CST - is a productof the Costa Rican Tourism Institute

(ICT). CST was designed to differenti-ate tourism sector businesses based on

the degree to which they comply with a sustainablemodel of natural, cultural and social resource manage-ment. Throughout these pages you will findthe symbol, which is an excellent tool to assisttravelers in making wise choices supportive ofthe overall goal of this mission.”

San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica, islocated in the Central Valley at 3,800 feetabove sea level with a population of 1 mil-lion. The city bustles with all the activity ofany major metropolitan area but at a muchslower pace. In addition to San Jose, theurban area of the Central Valley comprisesthe cities of Alajuela, Cartago and Heredia.San Jose is the "capital" or headquarters ofhalf day and full day tour departures to someof the most exciting places in Costa Rica. There are so many things to do and see fromSan Jose. See facing page for tour listingsthat depart daily and include pick-up anddrop-off from your hotel in San Jose. Manypeople don’t realize that San Jose is not onlya city but also a province. Less than 15 min-utes away from downtown San Jose city liesthe attractive and lively district of Escazuand the rich growing area of Santa Ana.Escazu is perhaps the most desirable placefor dining and shopping in the country. Itsquaint cafes, gourmet restaurants, boutiquesand modern shopping malls make Escazupopular among tourists and nationals alike.Picturesque architecture and postcard viewsover the Central Valley are also trademarksof the area. Escazu is our favorite spot tovisit while in the San Jose area.

Here is a list of a few of our favoriterestaurants that you might enjoy on yourvacation.
