Effects of Attachment and Parenting Style on Personality Development in InfancyWhat I found interesting about this is the fact that an infant’s attachment and how a parent responds to and interacts with their child is a huge factor in healthy development, and can affect children in later years if not formed now.

In growing up, I am able to stand back and see different parenting styles of my parents and my friend’s parents, and I can see the difference in our development throughout later years in how we problem solve, and in how healthy our relationships are with family, peers and teachers.

Divorce is a huge factor on development, and the absence of stability in the home greatly effects the child both short and long-term.

With the amount of children being diagnosed with learning disabilities, I believe it is important to understand the reasons behind these disabilities and what remedies are around to counter them.

Personal Relevance My sister has being diagnosed with

learning disabilities, and in understanding her learning disabilities, along with the other factors, I hope to be able to better relate to her and positively affect her life.

important for me to understand the nature of learning disabilities if I want to work with children, teens or young adults.

Adolescent Health- Drug, Alcohol, Depression, and Suicide

This topic is interesting because of the prevalence within social media, TV, and politics, as well as the effects of peer pressure and need to fit in. The rates of drug and alcohol use in the adolescent stage seems to be on a downward trend, however, suicide and depression is on a rise, which is a cause for concern.

Personal Relevance Having substance abuse

as well as depression run in my family, as well as having battles with depression myself, I feel that this topic hits pretty close to home. Knowing the signs, as well as healthy coping and prevention methods, I think is a very important skill to have.

Usefulness in Professional Life In wanting to work with children, teens and young adults, I find that knowing

proper information on substance use as well as depression and suicide rates within these age groups will help me to better prevent, educate and help these age groups.

This aspect is very important with young adults and having a well-fitted and fulfilling occupation promotes good mental health and satisfaction in life.

Personal Relevance This aspect most certainly pertains to me, since I am a young adult in

the middle of trying to develop a career and find a satisfying fit. In this economy, finding a career is difficult, as well as all the choices we have available.

useful part of my professional life at the moment, seeing as how this is the basis and steps I will be using to determine a career choice after my years in general studies here at the college.
