‘Sleepy’ when asked the reason behind his stage name

Years 2006 to 2012 Sleepy gained the opportunity to begin travelling for work and music purposes. He never left his passion for hip hop music aside. In fact, he lived in Italy for almost six to seven years, where he formed a rap group that went by the name ‘Tha Hustler’s Coalition’ (THC). name ‘Tha Hustler’s Coalition’ (THC). This group consisted of rappers, D Rob, Lonestar, Cruiser and Bama. They produced hip hop music and had the opportunity to perform their songs in various nightclubs and shows from Venice to Milan.

The first CD Sleepy ever purchased was that of the American rap duo, ‘Underground Kingz’ (UGK). At a young age, Sleepy got involved with

his cousin LBO Keys, who gave him an insight into music production and recording. In 2002, he started a company by the name of ‘Greedy Money’

where he first produced and developed hip hop songs.

From the southern state of Alabama, USA, Sleepy was born within the hip hop music culture. He comes from a family who has a strong passion for music

UAE saw the rise of Sleepy in the year 2013 when he began to produce music with local studios in Abu Dhabi, namely White Cube and Pure Sounds

Studio. He formed the group ‘Nero La Cosa Nostra’ with the former mem-­bers of group THC in Italy. Sleepy has performed his music alongside his

group in yacht parties and also Yacht Club in Abu Dhabi. ‘DJ SLIM FROM PARIS’, a very popular hip hop DJ in UAE is Sleepy’s official DJ who plays his

music in most of the nightclubs in Abu Dhabi.

Music production and being an excellent lyricist led Sleepy

to also being a DJ and whilst his seven years of travelling, also had the opportunity to

perform his music and DJ for shows in Spain.

As a solo artist, Sleepy’s aim is to build a brand around his name and talent. His future projects include a mix tape releasing in Summer 2015 that goes by

the name of ‘Seven Star Release’ which will be an exclusive UAE release, therefore the name as it relates to the seven emirates. An EP with the tracks ‘Your Own Thang’, ‘Turn it Up’ and ‘Intro to My Life’ is set to release before

the mix tape release in May 2015.

Sleepy has now diverted from being a rap group member to being a solo artist

Sleepy’s logo is slowly becoming popular amongst the urban scene in UAE. His merchandise includes a tshirt line based around the theme of his mix

tape. That is definitely something to look forward to!

It is important to understand the essential aspects of music such as production and recording, in order to produce a catchy beat and lyrics that are unique and built around an artist’s mind and perception. Sleepy is that all round artist.round artist.

As a person, Sleepy has always served the purposes of charity and he plans to continue doing this by making bracelets that will be given out

with his mix tape ‘Seven Star Release’. Donations of any amount can be given whilst picking up the mix tape from outlets and sources. These do-­

nations will be forwarded to a selected charity.

Sleepy performed in the RvP GvME UAELaunch Party at People by Crystal Abu Dhabi

which he is a part of “The Series” where rappers based in Abu Dhabi show off their

skills in the studio.

In April 2015, Sleepy took over the Reverbnation chart for the TOP rap artist in the UAE. An achievement that has been acquired from pure

hard work and passion for music.
