STEVE HARRISON(the sleepy gecko), born in WestYorkshire, England, now resides with his

wife and their three children in Hoi An,

Central Viet Nam.

Steve’s creative output stems from his

multiple artistic skills: photographer,

illustrator, graphic designer, writer,

typographer dreamer and story-teller.

His varied employment experience has

included working in the creative

departments of the biggest world-wide

design and advertising agencies from

Europe, The Middle East, Asia, Australia

and the U.S.A.

In Hoi An surrounded by an abundance

of natural beauty, Steve found new

inspiration that has added an

invigourating energy to his creative drive.

He produces breath taking images,

reflecting the surreal life of Vietnam’s

exotic countryside, culture and people.

His images are nationally recognized and

are used to decorate 5 star resorts.

His work has also appeared in numerous

national publications.

1986-2003 CREATIVE DIRECTOR ELECTRIC EYE GRAPHICS SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Started my own company with complete creative control of allaspects in graphics/advertising.Provided initial concept through to final production and printwork. Liaisoned with all prospective clients, photographers andprinters. Overseeing and managing production and printpersonnel.Clients: Kellogg’s, Reader's Digest, ESRI Australia, BentleySystems, Apple Computer, Adobe Systems and other blue chipaccounts.Started working with Macintosh computers in 1985 anddeveloped publishing skills in Quark Xpress, Adobe Illustrator,Adobe Photoshop, Painter, & Fontographer.I also specialise in training individuals and companies in Pre-press production and am constantly asked to speak at seminarson publishing.Currently I want to network more with companies internally ontheir design and production needs.I have a strong desire to share my mature/extensive workknowledge with others.

Worked as a partner in a team with a copy writer and creativedirector. Produced concept work, did my own production,illustration as well as supervising print.Clients: Mainly pharmaceutical and cosmetic work.This agency merged with another company with differentvalues – I decided it was time to move on in a differentdirection.

1979-1981 McCANN ERICKSONS ADVERTISINGSENIOR ART DIRECTOR SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

Worked as a partner in a team with a copy writer.Produced mainly concept work and outsourced productionand print.Clients: Kellogg’s, Coca Cola and other blue chip accounts.Outsourcing was the era of the new concept in agencies, lesshands-on frustrated me. Moved to a smaller agency to havemore control and hands-on experience.

1978-1979 PROMOVISION ADVERTISING CREATIVE DIRECTORBAHRAIN, MIDDLE EAST

Responsible for a team of 6 artists for full production.Answerable directly to the Managing Director.Liaising directly with clients.Clients: Ramada Hotel Chain, Gulf Air, PanAm,Gahan El Phani, Ceylon Tea.After 1 year decided to move to a safer location, too muchagency and political unrest in the Middle East.

1974-1978PORTFOLIO CREATIVE SERVICES SENIOR ART DIRECTOR – U.K.

Responsible for a team of 4 artists for full production.Answerable directly to the Managing Director.Started to deal directly with clients.Clients: Rowntree confectioneryRelished the responsibly and gained great practical experience.From here I decided I wanted to work overseas.

1970-1974 SELL ADVERTISING ART DIRECTOR – U.K.

Responsible for a team of 3 artists for full production.Answerable directly to the Creative Director.Loved the work but was made an offer to be the Senior ArtDirector – of course I took the opportunity.

1968-1970 POWNEY FURNESS COMPTON ADVERTISING CREATIVE – U.K

learning and producing all aspects of creativity in advertising.from concept work, through layout, photography, assembly andfinal production.That was a great place to become familiar with the basicthrough to the advanced. Left for a more advanced positionwith more responsibility.

CURRENT AIM Working single handedly on many projects over the last 12years has left me wanting to network with others. I’d like towork in a team situation and share my multi-talentswith others.Because of my experience and abilities I feel I have a great dealto offer.
