What is SGA?!

SGA is made up of student leaders who are dedicated to creating the best possible environment for fellow students.SGA aids in not only academics but also helps students get involved socially around the UCF campus.SGA has an annual budget of $17,000,000 which is used for clubs, organizations, school events and functions.

Where is SGA located?

SGA is located on the second floor of the Student Union in room 214.

Our SGA Leaders

SGA has their own senate, made up of 52 elected student leaders.These student leaders are elected by the student body every fall.Our SGA senate works with students and the various student organizations around campus.

What can SGA do for you?SGA provides:

Free scantrons

Free express printing (20 pages front and back per day in black and white only)

Student computer lab

Free copying and faxing

Free student legal services

Student conduct assistance

Zimride car pooling: Car pooling service offered by UCF that allows students, faculty, and staff to connect through social networking sites to offer or ask for rides

Large tailgates for each home game

Knightlynx: Late night bus service that transports students around campus and parts of Orlando outside of the borders of the campus.

Discounted theme park tickets

Student scholarships

Funding for academic conferences

Universal knights: On specific dates UCF offers free tickets to Islands of Adventure with a valid UCF student ID

Michele Venezia Interview• What is something that most students

are not aware of about SGA? • “Most students aren’t aware of all the service SGA offers. SGA

offers services such as free printing, All Knight Study (a 24 hour study space), KnightLynx (a late night bus service), and free scantrons.”

• What is SGA’s biggest event?• “SGA’s biggest event is SGA Days, an event that promotes all of

the agencies and divisions in student government. It also shows students how to get involved in student government or other organizations around campus.”

• What is your favorite thing about SGA?• “My favorite thing about SGA is being a liaison for students. As a

member of the Division of Communications I deal one on one with students and making their ideas for events and campaigns come to life. I enjoy giving students what they ask for out of their college experience, it’s very fulfilling in a position.”

• Why is it important for students to be knowledgable about SGA?

• “Students need to know about SGA because as a whole SGA allocates funds for a 17 million dollar budget of student money. This money is used to make sure students are getting what they want out of their college experience. Without SGA none of the free and helpful services would be possible.”

Spirit Splash!• Spirit Splash is held on the Friday of

Homecoming week.• It was voted the best campus tradition by

the National Association for Campus Activities.

• Normally nobody can enter the reflection pond, but Spirit Splash is an exception as thousands of students charge into the pond the moment Knightro swings his sword.

How to get involvedStudent Senate

Is the chief representative student body

Important issues like annual budget is debated and voted by the senators of the legislative branch

Confirmed senators are assigned a student organization and will assist this organization

Join the Student Body President’s Advisory Council (SBPAC)

A committee of freshman leaders which functions as a recommending body for decision making

Branches• Executive Branch: Is made up of members who are appointed by the Student Body President. They deal with the keeping up of the various student programs and services.

• Legislative Branch: Is made up of 56 student leaders whos main job is to provide organizations with funding for their travels, event planning, and conference registration.

• Judicial Branch: The Judicial branch makes sure to make the expierience of the students enjoyable and interesting to keep up the great name SGA has made for itself.
