• Lady Anne Clifford was the last Clifford to own the castle.

• She repaired the castle after the Civil War.

• In the courtyard it stands a yew tree planted by Lady Anne.

• Lady Anne wrote her own letter to her father when she was eight.

• She fought hard for her own rights.
