Our core services • Delivery of Scotland’s all-age Career Information Advice and Guidance service
• Funding Modern Apprenticeships and other National Training Programmes
• Leading on PACE (Partnership for Continuing Employment), a Scottish Government initiative which supports people back into work following redundancy
• Promoting ILA Scotland, the Scottish Government offer that helps pay for learning for people on lower incomes
• Leading on The Big Plus, Scotland’s campaign to raise awareness of how literacy and numeracy can be improved
• Working on behalf of industry, particularly the key sectors*, to ensure skills needs are clearly articulated and responded to by the skills and learning system.

Careers Information Advice and Guidance Strategy
SDS tasked with:
1. Developing an integrated service delivery model
2. Introducing our new web service (My World of Work)
3. Focusing face-to-face interventions on target groups
4. Establishing a framework to help the people of Scotland develop career management skills (CMS) – CMS Framework consultation launch on 28th March 2012
5.Supporting capability and capacity building:
• By helping schools and colleges develop CMS in young people through trial approaches and the offer of joint staff learning and development
• By providing appropriate Continuous Professional Development
6. Working with partners to develop a Quality Assurance Framework for career information, advice and guidance services
