That was good even though the odds were against us. Hopefu l l y everyone enjoyed the weekend of the National despite tractors conking out and a few things being forgotten both days went extremely well. I think for the first time in ages the competitors appreciated that launching was going to be difficult and it was good to see everyone ready and waiting for a change.

Although I did my bit on the prom I think Alex and his mates deserve the praise (I think the phrase is running around like blue assed flies!) And big well done to John for both days at the bottom of the slip recovering. Full praise for everyone I think. Sorry I didn't make my normal tiddly appearance, but Russ decided to have my grandsons christening at 12.30 on the Sunday and the rest of the family arrived on Saturday.

So a big thanks to John who managed to get us out of the water first, which gave me 15 mins to get home, suit up and get to the church. Can't deny I was the last in, but not everyone was sat down and so no embarrassing church doors opening after the service had started. I did have every intention of coming back down later but in truth I got trashed and I didn't think I'd be able to walk that far. But I did think of you all and hopefully everyone mucked in and cleared up and packed everything away. Certainly was a hot old day. I think we're off to Brixham this weekend for the last of the Nationals before The Worlds in July, so plenty of time for socialising in the coming few weeks. So I'll see you all a bit more often now especially sitting outside the Pav if the weather stays like this. (Rich wrote his piece several weeks ago, prompt as he always is, this does mean that due to delay in receiving all of the content some of his dates have passed – Ed) Membership secretaries note: ID cards for permit scheme can be collected at The Pavilion any not collected by August will be posted out. Have fun and note Tractor re training will be after the rest return from Belgium. Rich Green
