Inflammation of the joints

Bursa are small, fluid filled sacs that lubricate and relieve pressure between the bones, tendons and muscles near the joints

Over 15o bursae in the body

Bursa helps make movement easy, painless

Inflammation makes movement difficult, painful

Most common causes are overuse, direct trauma to a joint

Repeated bumping or kneeling

Sharp blow to the joints

Prevalent in the hips, ankles, knees, shoulders and elbows.

Infection, arthritis

Pain during movement

Redness in area of inflamed bursa

Swelling of the joints

Warmth over injured joint
