And hundreds more participate in our service immersion programs. In the Jesuit tradition, service is about more than just helping others; it’s standing with them.

There are two Campus Ministry programs especially designed for first-year students. IGNITE is an overnight, off-campus experience where you can get to know other new students and ease your transition to

500 students giving back each week. That’s the magis.

That’s why The City of Brotherly Love is so welcoming and culturally diverse, which is perfect when you’re looking for something new to think about – or to eat. But that’s just the beginning. Our city could be a course in American history. Pivotal events, like the signing of the Declaration of Independence, happened within just a few miles of campus. With eight Fortune 500 companies, Philadelphia is ideal for internships. When you’re ready to take a break from the books, our five pro sports teams will give you plenty to cheer about. And having more than 50 colleges in the area makes Philly a great place to be a student.

One of our most popular away programs is the Appalachian Experience. Every spring break, over 400 SJU students volunteer to work on Habitat for Humanity sites in Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky. Other teams have served communities in New Orleans, Guatemala, Ecuador and El Salvador.

Hawk pride covers more than basketball. Saint Joseph’s fields 20 varsity teams that compete in the NCAA Division I Atlantic 10 Conference and the Philadelphia Big 5. Our cross country team regularly finishes at or near the top of its conference. SJU rowing teams have a long tradition of success at the Dad Vail Regatta and other prestigious national competitions. And our baseball, softball, field hockey and tennis teams have new, state-of-the-art facilities on the Maguire Campus.

Hawks don’t stop at being exceptional athletes; they’re also stellar scholars. Recently, 243 of them were recognized on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, achieving a 3.0 GPA or better. Ninety-two of those athletes were also included in the Atlantic 10 Commissioner’s Honor Roll with a 3.5 GPA or above.

Internship or Co-op – what’s the difference? Co-ops are full-time paid positions, where you’ll alternate semesters working and going to classes. Internships can be part- or full-time, paid or unpaid. And they’re usually scheduled around your classes.

Financial Assistance: Saint Joseph’s University works with families to help make an SJU education affordable through need-based grants, loans and federal work-study. To qualify for need-based financial assistance, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Are you a Hawk?Freshman Admission Requirements: SJU offers two non-restrictive, non-binding admissions

programs for students applying directly from high school: Early Action and Regular Decision.

SAT and ACT scores are optional. However, you may submit your scores if you feel they represent your

academic achievements. All admitted students have until May 1 to confirm their intent to enroll by

submitting a non-refundable enrollment deposit.
