The New Energies InitiativeOur New Energies initiative between the

Church of Saint Mary and Saint Josephcontinues to move along. While it has beenawhile since our last update, Father Mike andFather Joe have met with Bishop da Cunha torecharge our efforts.

The Implementation Teams from bothparishes, Father Mike Kreder, Mary Lanni,Sister Ines Marie, Nancy Barckett, DaveValente, Betty Hatler and Debbie Moranfrom Saint Mary and Fr. Joe Astarita, FranAlberta, Marian Koob and Verna Paiotti fromSaint Joseph and Gladys Pozza from theArchdiocese of Newark have been meeting torevitalize our efforts to share programs,

resources and enhance the worship experience for all ourparishioners. Our meetings have been productive and energizing. Both parishes have a strong sense of community with goodliturgy so in looking at ways that we could make things evenbetter, the teams focused on areas that needed support.

We see opportunities to share retreat experiences, adulteducation programs, RCIA, family faith sharing and some verypractical matters as sharing expertise in management andfinances. So our recommendation to the Archdiocese was thatwe would partner with each other in these areas. We are now inthe implementation stage of the initiative. We will be meetingover the next few months to co-develop the required action steps. We look forward to this association with our neighbors as wejointly work toward serving the people of God well in this areaof God’s kingdom.

Going forward, keep checking this section of the bulletin forupdates to our plan as well as upcoming events. If you areinterested in joining our team, please contact your respectiveparish office and leave your name and contact information. Morehands make the work easier.

ARCHBISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEALOur parish and the Archdiocese are ONE. Both need yoursacrificial support. It's never too late to a make a financialcommitment to our AAA. Those donors who share a portion ofwhat they have, are the first ones to benefit from their own senseof gratitude of God. As of July 17th, 443 parishioners fromSaint Mary have donated $127,467.00 to the Archbishop'sAnnual Appeal. To date, $100,365.00 has been paid of thispledged amount. Envelopes can be found in back of church. Think how you may be able to help those less fortunate thanourselves. Why not give today?

REMEMBER YOUR PARISH

Some people wait until the end of summer to put in a ‘catch-up’

envelope for the Sundays they might have been away. The “Way

of Stewardship” is NOT to ‘catch up’ after everything has been

used for vacation but to give from the “first fruits.” Why not

consider “catching up” before you leave for vacation as an act

of gratitude to God for all you have been given.

MEMORIAL WALL

We recently began a Memorial Wall in Church by the Blessed Sacrament Tabernacle. Ten phtographs of thosemost recently buried from Saint Mary will be hung on thewall. Families can provide the undertaker with the photowhich they will scan and email us or a picture can bedropped off at Saint Mary. Only those buried from SaintMary will be displayed on the wall. Kindly pray for thepeaceful repose of their souls and ask the intercession ofour Blessed Mother or light a candle to remember ourdeceased parishioners.

BAPTISMSWe are STILL SEARCHING! If you

are an expectant parent thinking about

your child's baptism, why not consider

this! We are looking for 2 babies

approximately 3 months of age or

younger to be baptized during Mass in

October - exact weekend not yet determined. The babies will be

baptized by full immersion by Father Mike. If interested, call

the Parish Office.

PRAY FOR OUR SICK

Please PRAY in the name of JESUS, the healer, that

the SICK of SAINT MARY PARISH may be

restored to health and all those who ASSIST and

CARE for the sick will be given the STRENGTH to

continue GOD’S good WILL:

Ray Anderson, Margaret Curtin, Gilda Danza,

Domingo DelaCruz, Joselito De Leon, Bruce Duryea,

Michael Francis, Stephanie Joyce, Joyce Kasper,

Beth Maroney, Megan Macaluso, Connie Mehos

REMEMBERING

FATHER CHUCK

here at

SAINT MARY

To make a donation in Father Chuck's memory

to our Building Fund, kindly send a check

payable to Church of Saint Mary. The item

being memorialized will depend on donations received from our

parishioners. Thank you to John and Helene Lamparello who

generously donated $1,000. for a new Altar Cloth in memory of

Father Chuck which will be used at all Funerals and will match

the Priests vestments and pall and to Michael and Maria Polivka

who also gave $1,000. to the Building Fund. We are thankful to

ALL who have donated so far to the Building Fund in Father

SIXTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

First Reading: Jeremiah 23:1-6

In this passage, God denounces false leaders who have scattered

his people. He promises that they will be reunited and led by one

who is just and wise.

Second Reading: Ephesians 2:13-18

Paul explains that through Jesus Christ, there is no longer

hostility between Gentile and Jew. Instead, through the Spirit of

Christ, both groups become one body and are equal in the eyes

of God.

Gospel: Mark 6:30-34

The apostles returned after their first mission and told Jesus what

they had done and taught. He told them to rest, but the people

kept coming to them. So they went to find a private place, but the

people learned where they were going and arrived first. Jesus felt

sorry for them and decided to teach them instead of resting.
