The village also has a degree and diploma engineering college, school and a restaurant.

The village panchayat collected

Rs 3 crore in the past five years

from the real estate developers

and used that money on roads,

street lights, a lake, public toilets,

drainage and water system for the

15,608 people of Baben.

Baben village initiated its development in 2007 under the

supervision of Sarpanch Bhaveshbhai. 19 panchayat members

pledged to work for the development of the village. In 2011,

the village received 'Best Gram Panchayat of the Year' awards

from Gujarat government.

The village has 8500 houses out of which 95 percent of them are pacca houses. It has primary

facilities such as sewage, water, street light etc. From Anganwadi, primary school, high

school to post office the village has everything. The village has its own ambulance.

Panchayat has a fixed deposit of Rs. 1 crore.

Initially the area Kali Basti now known as Mahatma Gandhi Vasahat was poor in the sense of

cleanliness, pure drinking water, health facilities and roads. Then when the village started to

initiate towards progression and all these basic amenities were provided by developing

overhead tanks for water supply, public health centre for better health and wide enough roads

with drainage facilities for good transport.

Also gram panchayat of Baben has published the development booklet named “Parivartan

Gaatha Baben” in which information regarding its development is provided.

The information about various facilities according to this booklet is as follows:

1) Agriculture improvement, land reforms, consolidation, soil conservation:-

For the land improvement proper guidance is given to do organic farming using bio-

compose to grow the crop according to type of soil and irrigation.

2) Minor irrigation, water management, water shed development:-

Irrigation facilities are given from left side canal of Ukai dam and mainly drip

irrigation method is adopted in order to prevent wastage of water. The main crops of

village are sugar cane paddy and vegetables.

3) Animal husbandry , dairying and poultry:-

The improve breeds of buffaloes and cows are grown up to develop the dairying. So

the village get subsidiary income.

4) Fisheries:-

There is a pond of hector in village to develop the fisheries, the pond is develop and

become a source of village income.
