My project may not directly improve the lives of a million people, but those of a thousand who would in turn improve the lives of a billion. The Singularity Pyramid (SP) is a 3D model on an online platform in which every kind of knowledge can mapped in relation to each other in two abstract dimensions: from technical to insightful (insights are derived from technical knowledge), and from resource-constrained to resources-unconstrained. In the third dimension, knowledge is connected to smaller objects such as “data” and “information”, or combined altogether into bigger objects such as “discipline”, “technology”, “consciousness”, “problem”, etc. Each object in the SP shows the accumulated percentage of accuracy (e.g. global warming is real, 90%) based on submitted responses and submitters’ People Rank, and each user’s percentage of “consciousness” or “completion” (e.g. 50%), which indicates the percentage of related objects the user has mastered (e.g. CO2 density/global temperature correlation).

SP will help:

+ Scientists take leaps of faith to accelerate scientific discovery by allowing them to browse and decide to pursue strongly testified beliefs (mapped OUTSIDE the SP with an indefinitely pending approval of admission). For example, a scientist can significantly narrow down the attributes of the correct cosmological model by simply choosing to believe that “spirits exist”.

+ Crowdsource widely recognized insights to save years of technical research

+ Become conscious of short/long term problems and their correlations to devise the right strategy to solve them

+ Motivate yourself to compete for higher/deeper knowledge and higher level of consciousness

+ Identify geographical market needs and predict market trends

+ Estimate other people’s level of consciousness to help, persuade, or manipulate them

+ Analyze macroscopic universal laws

+ Literally put you and partners on the same page to rarely argue again

+ Confirm, revise or strengthen your assumptions

+ Build your “pyrofile”, a picture of your mind, and accurately position yourself in the society

+ Spawn a new breed of ultra-high-tech analysts called “paralysts”

+ Reference a visual map of collective knowledge that displays relationships between different disciplines

+ Precursor of the Singularity superintelligence’s brain

GSP is the only place where I can team up with people who are passionate about multidisciplinary knowledge to implement my project. I plan to gather as many team members as possible and get support from all other students no matter what they are working on. Though I have outlined the whole Pyramid in broad strokes, I need their expertise to work out the details of the data structure for their respective fields. They don’t have to come up a detailed structure of a whole field such as molecular biology. They can start building the Pyramid by trying to map all related elements in their own project ideas (assumptions leading to the problem, causes of the problem, feasibility of solutions in potential markets, available technology, knowledge and consciousness of team members, level of consciousness of target customers, etc.) in the most systematic and comprehensive way. In case of BioThalia, they were solving a problem based on assumptions that it’s more urgent to solve the immediately problem of pandemics than its deeper problems, knowledge and technologies to create BioThalia technology were available, this technology could scale up and be welcomed in specific countries, etc. What kinds of data, knowledge, testified by which scientists, organizations can strengthen these assumptions? A comprehensive map of all of them and their relationships will serve as the first building blocks in the Pyramid. The very process of building the Pyramid can be moderated to demonstrate the application of the SP model as a methodology, in which we have to identify and solve problems that require higher level of consciousness and combine radically different disciplines. The most important people I am looking for are a chief big-data architect, a master interface designer, a brilliant CEO for fundraising and business model building, and someone who can add a touch to make the Pyramid reflect the dynamic and interconnected nature of reality. The primary purposes of this pilot project is for SU students to raise awareness of deeper problems, enhance mutual understanding, validate assumptions, compile and track cross-disciplinary insights (well-founded assumptions), and redraw the roadmap to Singularity.

SP should be designed not just for exploration of knowledge in random directions (as with Wikipedia and Google Knowledge Graph) which is abundant and all over the place, but primarily for an UPWARD direction (more insightful and “efficient” knowledge) toward the Singularity. Computer technology is central to this creation of SP:

+ For starters, it looks like when you open Google Earth and see, instead of a floating blue globe in the middle of the screen, a floating pyramid.

+ Highly scalable technology architecture so that it can be upgraded frequently, run many kinds of experiments and applications, and deal with extremely big data.

+ An ingenious data structure to accommodate machine-readable big data in 3 abstract dimensions, a semantic network which contains billions of objects, spanning all fields of human knowledge, millions of users and relationships between them.

+ Strong AI for data mining from a variety of sources such as Wikipedia, harnessing the resources of Linking Open Data project, reducing knowledge redundancy, scrawling & indexing, mapping and linking new knowledge/data/information (onto the Pyramid) from news, articles, and papers to reflect the dynamic and evolution of various objects in reality (consciousness, problem, solution, etc.).

+ Strong data visualization capabilities for special purposes. In this age, information is the tool to win invisible wars. The choice of data and visualization methods can affect our course to the Singularity.

+ When everything in place, a plan will be outlined to propose a partial merger with Wikipedia.

+ The technology should be made compatible to that of Google Knowledge Graph for potential commercial partnership.

+ Future projects will focus on software to process and visualize data in SP for commercial or political purposes, e.g. to identify untapped market potential of certain business practices in developing countries based on gaps in the collective consciousness of their customer base, or to prove universal laws to political leaders in order to reach secret consensus.

+ Future researches will touch the possibility of applying neuroscience, electrical engineering, and bionanotechnology in creating an organic-inorganic hybrid computer with enough capabilities to run the full-scale SP.

The idea of the Singularity Pyramid came to me four times before.

The first was when I was trying to convince my fellow environmental activists that we were just dealing with the tip of the iceberg and we had to raise our level of consciousness in order to identify and solve deeper problems.

The second was when I read about how masterminds behind a grand scheme created the rules of the game which millions of simple minded people played by and never figured out.

The third was when I was convinced that there are grains of truth in religious knowledge that can serve as hints for the scientific community to accelerate scientific discovery, and these grains can be put in the same picture with scientific knowledge.

The fourth was when I realized that the Singularity must be the convergence of more than just technologies and we need to stand on a higher ground to see that.

So, I realize that a kind of VISUALIZED HIERARCHY is needed in all of these cases so that I can convince other people by literally putting us on the same page. It’s easier to arrange knowledge in hierarchy. For example, physics arises from mathematics; chemistry arises from physics, and so on. But I’m more interested in visualizing more abstract objects such as someone’s consciousness. For example, how much are you conscious of climate change? How much knowledge have you amassed on this matter? Have you conducted a research and looked at the data? Have you been to the most affected areas and talked to the most affected people? Did you suffer from climate change yourself? Are you conscious that you are just playing the climate game set up by some super intelligent and powerful group of people?

Anyway, our most relevant question is, are you conscious of everything other than technologies that will converge at Singularity? Seriously, we need a bigger map to get there so let’s create it together!
