SINGULAR AND PLURAL NOUNS Rules For Making Singular Nouns Plural 1. Most nouns just add “s”. Examples: book = books, desk = desks, car = cars 2. Nouns that end in s, x, z, ch, or sh, add “es” to make it plural. Examples: loss = losses, box = boxes, waltz = waltzes, church = churches 3. If a noun ends in a consonant “y” change the “y” to “i” and add “es” Example: party (consonant y) = parties 4. If a noun ends in a vowel y just add “s”.
