Singapore’s Biomedical Sciences Initiative
Launched in 2000 to develop the biomedical sciences cluster as one of the key pillars of Singapore’s economy
Three key agencies involved in developing this cluster: Biomedical Research Council (A*STAR), Economic Development Board’s Biomedical Science Group and EDB’s Bio*One
Singapore’s Biomedical Sciences Initiative
First Phase (2000-2005): Focus on establishing a firm foundation of basic biomedical research in Singapore
Second Phase (2006-2010): Focuses on deepening basic research capabilities and strengthening translational and clinical research
