Welcome to Redeemer Church

Redeemer Church is an independent Reformed congregation. We are Baptistic in

practice, meaning that we adhere to the Baptist Confession of Faith of 1689, a

doctrinal statement strongly grounded in the Word of God.

If you are our guest today and would like to make yourself known to us, you can

use the Guest Card in the seat pocket in front of you. After completing it, simply

drop it in the drop box at the entrance to the auditorium; and if you are our guest

today, please feel no obligation to give. As you leave, please take one of our Guest

Packets located at the entrance to the auditorium.

“Come, let us worship and bow down! Let us kneel before the Lord, our maker!”

A Prayer for The Lord’s Day

O LORD OUR GOD, we humbly beseech Thee to have mercy upon

us all. We all see how prone we are to go astray, and to insinuate

ourselves and our own thinking and our own understanding. Lord keep

us, we pray Thee, ever to that simplicity which is in Christ Jesus – the

true simplicity – not the false, artificial simplicity of man, but the true

simplicity of the gospel itself as we find it in Thy most holy word. O

God, wilt Thou bless these things unto us, lest we be a hindrance or an

obstacle to any soul that is outside. Grant unto us ever, we humbly pray

Thee, to have a great and a deep sense of our responsibility both to

Thee and to men and women. O God, give us an ever greater concern

and zeal for Thy name and for Thy glory. Amen.

The Lord’s Day | June 7, 2020 eventh

Trinity Sunday | 10:30 a.m.

REFLECTION

“The Jesus I know and love today I encountered at the age of seventeen.

But His name and His tug in my life mean infinitely more now than they did

when I first surrendered my life to Him. I came to Him because I did not

know which way to turn. I have remained with Him because there is no

other way I wish to turn. I came to Him longing for something I did not

have. I remain with Him because I have something I will not trade. I came

to Him as a stranger. I remain with Him in the most intimate of friendships.

I came to Him unsure about the future. I remain with Him certain about my

destiny.”

― Ravi Zacharias (1946 – 2020)

COLLECT

Almighty and everlasting God, you have given to us your servants grace, by

the confession of a true faith, to acknowledge the glory of the eternal

Trinity, and in the power of your divine Majesty to worship the Unity: Keep

us steadfast in this faith and worship, and bring us at last to see you in your

one and eternal glory, O Father; who with the Son and the Holy Spirit live

and reign, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SING ALOUD!

O WORSHIP THE KING Words: William Kethe | Music: Joseph M. Kraus CCLI License # 11152837

Oh, worship the King, all-glorious above, Oh, gratefully sing His pow’r and His love; Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days, Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise. Oh, tell of His might, oh, sing of His grace, Whose robe is the light, whose canopy space; His chariots of wrath the deep thunderclouds form, And dark is His path on the wings of the storm. Thy bountiful care, what tongue can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines in the light; It streams from the hills, it descends to the plain, And sweetly distills in the dew and the rain. Frail children of dust, and feeble as frail, In Thee do we trust, nor find Thee to fail; Thy mercies how tender, how firm to the end, Our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend!

KING OF KINGS, MAJESTY Words & Music: Jarrod Cooper CCLI License # 11152837

King of kings, majesty God of heaven living in me Gentle Saviour, closest friend Strong deliv'rer, beginning and end All within me falls at Your throne

Your majesty I can but bow I lay my all before You now In royal robes I don't deserve I live to serve Your majesty

Earth and heav'n worship You Love eternal, faithful and true Who bought the nations, ransomed souls Brought this sinner near to Your throne All within me cries out in praise

ARISE, MY SOUL, ARISE! Words: Charles Wesley | Music: Louis Edso CCLI License # 11152837

Arise, my soul, arise; shake off thy guilty fears The bleeding sacrifice in my behalf appears Before the throne my surety stands Before the throne my surety stands My name is written on His hands Five bleeding wounds He bears, received on Calvary They pour effectual prayers; they strongly plead for me “Forgive him, oh forgive,” they cry “Forgive him, oh forgive,” they cry “Nor let that ransomed sinner die!” The Father hears Him pray, His dear Anointed One He cannot turn away the presence of His Son His Spirit answers to the blood His Spirit answers to the blood And tells me I am born of God My God is reconciled; His pardoning voice I hear He owns me for His child; I can no longer fear With confidence I now draw nigh With confidence I now draw nigh And “Father, Abba, Father” cry

PERSONAL & FAMILY WORSHIP

THE THINGS ON EARTH WILL BE SHAKEN | CHARLES SPURGEON

“And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of

things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.” Hebrews 12:27

Though it is clear as noonday in Scripture and in experience that stability is not to be found beneath the moon, yet men are for ever building upon earth’s quicksand as if it were substantial rock, and heaping up its dust as though it would not all be blown away. "This is the substance," cries the miser, as he clutches his bags of gold; "heaven and hell are myths to me." "This is the main chance," whispers the merchant, as he pushes vigorously his commercial speculations; "as for spiritual things they are for mere dreamers and sentimentalists. Cash is the true treasure." Ah, sirs, you base your statements upon a foundation of falsehood. This world is as certainly a mere revolving ball as to human life, as it is astronomically; and hopes founded thereon will as surely come to nothing as will card houses in storm.

Here we have no abiding city, and it is in vain to attempt to build one. This world is not the rock beneath our feet which it seems to be; it is no better than those green, but treacherous, soft, and bottomless bogs, which swallow up unwary traveler. We talk of terra firma as if there could be such a thing as solid earth; never was adjective more thoroughly misused, for the world passes away and the fashion thereof. Every now and then, in order to enforce this distasteful truth upon us, the God of providence gives the world, in some way or other, a warning shake. The Lord has only to lay one finger upon the world, and the mountains are carried into the midst of the sea, while the waters of the ocean roar and are troubled until the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. The most solid fabrics of human skill and industry are dissolved at the voice of the Most High; though they appear to possess the firmness of earth and claim the sublimity of heaven, yet one divine word shakes earth and heaven in a moment. Looking back through history, you will observe many periods of very tremendous shakings, the records of which are indelibly engraved upon human memory.

DAR: PIONEERS

Thank you for praying for good opportunities to share Christ during the month of Ramadan. I had many more opportunities than in other years and most of them were on many different aspects of what the Bible teaches and not just fasting. Two of the people I continue to have good conversations with are Aaron, the neighborhood chief (who I've mentioned before), and Michael, the regional school inspector. Aaron and I have worked through many of the main stories of the Old Testament and are coming up on the life of David. He's full of questions and good observations. Michael and I have also been working through the Old Testament, though at this point he seems to be motivated mostly by a desire just to have more knowledge. Would you pray with us that hearing and discussing God's word would soften the hearts of these men toward the truths of the gospel?
