A Prayer for The Lord’s Day

O LORD OUR GOD, we humbly thank Thee once more for Thy

lovingkindness to us. Lord, Thou hast made this provision for us. We

see our constant tendency to limit the glory of Thy grace and of the

gospel. O God, wilt Thou enlarge our hearts, enlarge our minds and

understandings! O reveal these things to us, we pray Thee, in all their

fullness that we may rejoice in them and revel in them as we should. We

thank Thee for all who have gone before us. We thank Thee for all who

help us to enter into these riches. O God, receive our humble praise.

REFLECTION

“All of God's mighty men and women have been mighty in prayer. When

Martin Luther was in the middle of his conflict with the Pope, the man of

sin, he used to say that he could not get on without three hours a day in

prayer. The greatest preacher of our times, Spurgeon, had pre-eminently

the "gift of the knees;" the last prayer I ever heard him utter (at his own

family worship) was one of the most wonderful that I ever listened to; it

revealed the hiding of his power. Abraham Lincoln once said: "I have been

driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had

nowhere else to go; my own wisdom and that of all around me seemed

insufficient for the day."

Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the

apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone:

Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that

we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our

Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever

LOVED BY HIM FREELY, GREATLY, UNCHANGEABLY, ETERNALLY | ANNE DUTTON

It is well for us that Jesus, our elder Brother, now appears in the presence of God for us—of God our Father, who loves us—that God's first-born Son—His holy, His beloved Son, exalted at the right-hand of the Majesty in heaven—is not ashamed to call us brethren, who are so much unlike Him on the earth! How great is the wonder that He, who is surrounded with myriads of angels and archangels—those 'bright flames of love to Him' who incessantly warble out His praises—should ever cast one kind thought upon such dull, cold, lifeless pieces of earth as we sometimes feel ourselves to be!

But our Lord loves us—loves us freely. Loves us infinitely— notwithstanding all our unloveliness, and ingratitude, and evil requitings of Him, for all His manifest kindness! And love binds His heart to us, and fixes His kind thoughts upon us. Loved by Him—freely, greatly, unchangeably, and eternally—we shall be remembered by Him perpetually in an infinity of flowing compassions, under all our sicknesses, our griefs, our miseries—from which by an infinite, an all-producing resolve, He will save us unto full and endless glory with Him hereafter!

That love of Christ, which was strong enough to engage Him to die for us when enemies, as sinners, as ungodly—will never fail towards us, because of that remaining enmity, sin, and ungodliness, which abides and works to our grief—in the corrupt, unregenerate part of our souls, and sadly at times produces backslidings in our lives. The love of Christ will go on with its great design—to save us from all sin and misery—unto all grace and glory—with Him, unto ages without end!

His love to us is infinitely great for the accomplishment of His great design—to bring us all up to be with Him where He is, to behold His glory, to be one in Him and in the Father, as He and the Father are one, by love-union and glory-communion—unto our full joy and ineffable and endless bliss!

Let us lift up our heads in faith—and with stretched-out necks in hope, let us look and long for the glory of that day. I wish you rich times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord, who, having loved His own who are in the world, loves them unto the end!

Pray for Lighthouse International Fellowship Church where we worship and minister. As an intentional international church, we encourage internationals to attend. We have the blessing of being multicultural, which is a taste of what heaven will be like. We also must translate every sermon into at least two languages. Pray that God would provide a stable and effective translation team. Pray too for God to send nationals with a hunger to be trained to serve in evangelism, discipling, and pastoral roles in the church, and for more Ukrainian churches and pastors to be open to serving the international community in their midst. Did you know that 1 in 7 Christians in the world do not live in their birth culture?

Pray for opportunity to start new international student outreach in our area to medical students. God is providing contacts with believers at this school and we believe a door to the gospel may be opening there. Pray for one of our church members to be accepted at this school this summer.

Pray for our support which is low by about $800/month. Pray for new contacts and strengthening of old friendships. Pray too for those who have lost jobs and income during the quarantine.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Kingdom Home Solar Panels Kingdom Home in Uganda cares for 156 boys and girls who are at risk of sex trafficking. They currently house the children in four rented homes. They will break ground in July on the first of four newly constructed homes which they will fully own. We want to help them purchase the solar panels for this first home. Our goal is $1,000. You can designate your gift to “Kingdom Home” in your offering. The Men’s Bible Study Saturday, July 11th | 9:00 am We will not meet next Saturday – July 4th Please join us each Saturday of the month as we continue our study of the Book of Romans led by our pastor. We meet in the Fellowship Hall at 9:00 am.

We Believe Sunday Mornings | 9:00 am During our Bible Study Hour at 9:00 am each Sunday, Pastor Paul will lead a study of The Baptist Confession of Faith. Every member and regular attender of Redeemer Church is urged to participate with us as we examine the foundations of our faith. Copies of The London Baptist Confession are available at no cost on the table at the rear of the auditorium this morning.

Parking Lot Project Phase I of our parking lot project is nearly complete and completely paid for! Phase II – the paving phase – will be completed when we raise an additional $17,000. Designate your gift to “Parking Lot” in the offering.

PRAY ONE FOR ANOTHER • Natalie Fraser is the 11-year-old

granddaughter of Ron and Terry Montgomery. She broke both of her elbows while playing on a trampoline. She has had surgery. She has 8 to 12 weeks of recovery ahead.

• Anna is the 11-month-old niece of Tobias and Rianne Schoeffler. She lives in Germany and has recovered from Coronavirus.

• Coralyn Daniels received the all clear from her medical tests. There is no cancer.

• Saad Yono underwent a successful lung transplant without complications. He is doing well with stable vitals. Please continue to pray for his healing and recovery.

• Cindy Engel’s daughter, Heather Sykes, had a successful surgery to correct a problem with her shunt. Heather was disabled in a car accident many years ago and has been living in a long-term care facility.

• Cindy Engel’s brother, Jim, who is struggling with depression and physical disabilities.

• Bernice Lotz is under treatment by a pain specialist. Please pray for relief from the chronic pain she is experiencing.

• Laurie Brodeur’s sister-in-law Janet Foss fell at home, breaking both wrists and has a brain bleed.

• Pray for Sandy Tiefenback’s mother, Dorothy Griffith, who has been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
