Objective This course is designed to provide training for prospective and existing Deck Officers responsible for watchkeeping on board Offshore Support Vessels (OSV), including Platform Supply Vessel, Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel, Diving Supply Vessel, Construction and Seismic Survey Vessel. Participants Deck Cadets and Deck Officers entering the maritime industry and Certificated Deck Officers new to the offshore sector. The course is most suited to those with little or no experience in offshore operations. Course Content Course participants completing this course will assimilate theoretical knowledge and practical skills to support a range of OSV operations. The course covers the following aspects:

• Offshore installation and support vessel types and operations overview. • Offshore Regulation, including flag state, AMSA Marine Orders, GOMO. • Safety Tools, including risk assessment, permit to work, toolbox meetings, stop work authority. • OSV specific stability requirements. • Operations inside safety zone; Person in Charge, watchkeeping and manning practices. • Introduction to OSV maneuvering; safe approach, weather monitoring, departure routes, modes of

operation, redundancy. • Deck cargo operations; tubulars, heavy lifts, cargo securing, working near open stern, IMDG Code, dropped

objects. • Bulk Cargo operations; dry bulk and wet bulk, NLS, MARPOL and incident preparedness. • Vessel standby operations; personnel transfers, overside work, helicopter standby. • Conduct after action peer review of simulation cases/feedback.

Course Pre-requisites Participants are to hold, or be undertaking training towards, a minimum of Deck Watchkeeper Certificate. Participants also may benefit from having some previous offshore experience. Other industry personnel will be considered on a case by case basis. Language, Literacy and Numeracy Requirements This course requires the ability to read and interpret typical product specifications, job sheets, procedures, and safety information as provided to operators. Writing is required to the level of completing workplace forms. Numeracy is required to calculate vessel stability, cargo capacities and pumping rates. The course is delivered in English.

Assessment & Competency Achievement There is no formal assessment carried out at the completion of the course. 100% attendance and participation in the course is required. Course Fee and Additional Service Costs $5,368.00 ($4.880.00 + GST) This course fee includes lunch, and morning and afternoon tea at the center.
