Our StoryBioSafe Systems, LLC is a labor of love for President and CEO Rob Larose. Our story began while he was working in the environmental remediation and environmental cleanup industry. At the time, Rob visited his uncle’s greenhouse located in Connecticut. He had spent a lot of time over the years helping his uncle in the greenhouse, and during his visit, Rob noticed his uncle spraying a pesticide with a chemical formulation identical to the insecticide that his company had just completed cleaning up at a Pennsylvania project site.

Seeing his uncle spray this insecticide with no personal protection equipment in place struck a chord with Rob to say the least, prompting him to take a soil sample (from the dirt floor of the greenhouse) for chemical testing and analysis. Rob thought to himself, “If that stuff is nasty enough to warrant specialized waste cleanup, it cannot be safe to be around, let alone breathe in.” When the soil test results came back, Rob’s concerns and fears were realized, as decades worth of chemical applications were still sitting in that greenhouse. Immediately, Rob began working with his father, a microbiologist, to create a safer alternative. Rob and his father, Rene Larose, pulled from his father’s experience working in the poultry industry to come up with a safer alternative for more toxic and residual pesticides.

Rene had been working with activated peroxides at his company, Arbor Acres, to reduce bacterial and fungal contamination within poultry operations and brought the reformulated peroxyacetic acid formula to be used within commercial greenhouses to control plant diseases. And so, BioSafe Systems was born.

Centered on unique activated peroxide chemistries, BioSafe Systems’ lines of home, garden and pond products use the same powerful and distinctive formulas professional growers have been using for years. BioSafe is proud to be able to offer solutions for consumers that are field tested, proven effective and US EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) registered. Keeping pH levels in a neutral range is essential for the health of aquatic life, plants and the pond ecosystem. An unbalanced pH level suppresses the proper amount of nutrients aquatic plants need to thrive and is a major cause of fish stress and disease. When pH levels are too high (alkaline) or too low (acidic) your water is out of balance and the environment promotes algae growth and unpleasant odor. By maintaining a neutral pH range, 6.8–7.8, water features are clean and healthy.
