Supplies: □ 1 new (cheap) kitchen sponge □ scissors □ permanent marker □ water
□ popsicle stick □ quick-sprouting seeds (water cress / alfalfa)
□ 9” x 13” pan
Teacher Guidelines:1. With scissors, cut a free-hand egg shape from the sponge. Discard scraps. 2. Use the permanent marker to write the child’s name on the back of the sponge. 3. Let the child soak the sponge in water, and gently squeeze out excess water. 4. Use the popsicle stick to gently spread the seeds out onto the wet sponge, one side only. 5. Keep the sponge moist by dropping a litt le water around it daily (not on seeds) and
place in a sunny spot. The seeds should sprout in a couple of days.

Teacher Guidelines:1. Each child is to begin with their red square, gluing it toward the bott om of their white
construction paper.2. Next they should glue on their roof (triangle), door (orange rectangle), windows (yellow
squares), door window (yellow circle), and chimney (green rectangle). 3. They can decorate the house or surroundings with crayons.
