The videos I have taken influence from are ‘Empire state of mind’ by Jay-z & Wiz Khalifa – young wild and free.

Visual style

The reason I have chosen these videos are because in ‘Empire state of mind’ they use loads of lights in their video and my music video will be about lights.

Also the reason I have chosen ‘Young, wild and free’ was because of the transitions and how they use the camera shots in their video.

Influences For example in the Empire state of mind video they have used black and white at the beginning and then later in the video they used colours. Since my video is about lights (All of the lights) I will use black and white at the beginning and when the song drops I will add colour to the video to make it more affective with the title.

In the Young, Wild and Free music video at the beginning they have some real life footage like the two artist talking about creating a party and then as the song drops the music video starts. I will try to create the same affect while using the Empire state of mind affect with black and white.

Editing

The editing in both videos are similar because they both show the environment the artist are in.

The reason I like the editing in the videos are because in ‘Empire state of mind’ is because its fast phase and fun to watch, also the video contains lights and show light effects which I want to use, these effects are good for the performance part of music videos.

Use of COLOUR

The use of colour in both videos are attractive to watch because they have many different colours and making it seem interesting to watch.

In empire state of mind at the beginning we see black and white colour which make it boring but when the song goes into the chorus its interesting to watch because they change back to colours.

Cinematography

Both videos use a variety of shots but mostly medium and long shots of the artists and their body language to show their expressions to the audience. The long shots are mostly used to show the location so it keeps the audience entertained.
