The Family Program will begin our celebration as parents and children learn about the Torah and its significance in our lives. Then, we will have a musical, energetic, and meaningful service, creating a festive atmosphere within which to end the Torah and begin again. This service is perfect for all ages. Families with children are especially encouraged to attend. A community Simchat Torah dinner follows the service. Sign up ($8/adult; $4/child) for the dinner at timemphis.org or scan the QR code by Oct. 8. After dinner, we will dedicate our Living Torah, the colorful, beautifully illustrated Torah that will be displayed in the Temple lobby for all to see and enjoy. The Living Torah will make the Torah spring to vibrant life in full color and will provide all of us with a new way to think about Torah. Many thanks to our Living Torah Co-Chairs, Billie and Joe Pierce and Debbie and David Rosenthal, as well as to our Living Torah sponsors for bringing this lovely and meaningful gift to our congregation, including Founding Sponsors Billie and Joe Pierce, Endowing Sponsors Julie and Byron Besser, and Inaugural Book Sponsors Andrea and Dr. Robert Kerlan, Monique and Charles Jalenak, Debra and Alex Saharovich, Debbie and David Rosenthal, and Dr. Martha Gordon and Alexander Gordon. Special thanks to our many generous Parsha and Panel Sponsors as well. The Simchat Torah Coffee House with Music and Words of Torah will follow. This wonderful event, which includes wine, coffee, and desserts, sponsored by WRJ-Sisterhood, is for adults of all ages and features inspirational learning and music. FESTIVAL MORNING SERVICE WITH YIZKOR SET THE DAY APART Thursday, October 16, 7:45 am The Torah instructs us to set the first and last days of our festivals apart to make them special and holy. Temple Israel will hold festival morning worship services, which will be a beautiful way to set our festivals of Simchat Torah, Passover, and Shavuot apart from other days. At Yizkor services, we will read the names and remember the blessings of the loved ones who have died since the last Yizkor service was help. Additionally, Temple will observe Yizkor at the festival morning services at Passover (April 10, 2015) and Shavuot (May 24, 2015).
