This product is designed to give you the highest performance, combined with real ease of use. We hope you will make optimum use of this intelligent, intuitive, feature-packed Fixed Cellular Terminal and Router with Data Port. Please read this document carefully before installing your SIMADO GFXD1111S.

About this System Manual

SIMADO GFXD1111S System Manual contains detailed information and instructions for installing, configuring and using GFXD1111S. This System Manual also contains information on protecting and maintaining the system and steps to be followed to default the system in case you are unable to configure it properly. We have made the best efforts to let you know your SIMADO GFXD1111S so that it becomes a fun for you to use it.

Intended Audience

This System Manual is aimed at:

• Network and System Engineer (SE): A person who install, configure and maintains SIMADO GFXD1111S. It is assumed that they have some experience in installing and programming the similar products. System Engineer has full access to the system.

• System Administrator (SA): System Administrator is a person who operates GFXD1111S and performs administrative functions. System Administrator has only limited access to the system.

• User: A person who actually uses SIMADO GFXD1111S.

Terminology used in this System Manual

In this system manual word, 'SIMADO GFXD1111S', 'GFXD1111S' and 'System' are used synonymously.

'System Engineer (SE)' and 'you' are used interchangeably and refer to the person who install and configures SIMADO GFXD1111S. Also 'Caller', 'Calling Party' and 'User' are used interchangeably and 'Callee' and 'Called party' are same.

Either GSM or CDMA module can be installed in the Mobile Port of SIMADO GFXD1111S as per the requirement of the user. Therefore, the Mobile Port can be either GSM or CDMA. In GSM Port, SIM Card is installed and in CDMA port, RUIM Card is installed.

Consider SIM as RUIM if CDMA module is installed in GFXD1111S. Also note that following features will not be supported by GFXD1111S, if CDMA module is installed in the Mobile Port of the system.

• Location Information Indication• Call Divert

SIMADO GFXD1111S supports 3G module for voice. When 3G module is installed in the system, it will have following effect:

1. Frequency Band Selection not required.

2. Current calls will be disconnected if Call Waiting Service is not disabled in the SIM Card. Disable Call Waiting in SIM Card before inserting it in SIMADO GFXD1111S.

Some of the terms used in this System Manual are defined below:

System Engineers (SE): A person who install, configure and maintains SIMADO GFXD1111S.

System Administrator (SA): System Administrator is a person who operates the system and performs administrative functions. System Administrator is authorized to perform only limited functions such as change SA password, display software version-revision, display call duration etc…For example, receptionist or an operator in an organization is called System Administrator.

Service Provider: Services Provider is an entity that provides telecom services to other entities. For example, Reliance, Vodafone etc. are a few service providers that provide telecommunication services to its subscribers.

User: A person who uses SIMADO GFXD1111S.

Caller/Calling party: A person who makes calls.

Callee/Called party: A person to who receives the call.

CHAPTER 2 Knowing SIMADO GFXD1111S

Overview of SIMADO GFXD1111S

SIMADO GFXD1111S is a compact device that interfaces GSM network to the PSTN network. SIMADO GFXD1111S supports quad-band operation allowing it to work with any GSM network. SIMADO GFXD1111S is the most versatile product, providing Data, Fax, SMS and GPRS service through its mobile port. It finds its application in corporate business establishments, STD/PCO booth, SOHO etc.

In an Organization all the incoming calls on the Mobile Port can be routed to the FXS Port or the FXO Port to reach the operator or the desired extension of the PBX. Similarly, all the outgoing calls made from FXS Port can be routed either through the Mobile Port or FXO Port depending on the Least Cost Routing logic, reducing the telecommunication cost of the organization.

Matrix offers FCT-Router in two different models: SIMADO GFXD1111 and SIMADO GFXD1111S. The only difference between the two is that GFXD1111 comes with inbuilt power supply with Battery Back-up and it operates on AC Mains whereas GFXD1111S comes with external adaptor and it operates on DC voltage. This system manual is common for both above mentioned FCT-Router models.

SIMADO GFXD1111 has 1 FXS Port, 1 FXO Port, a Communication Port, a SIM Card Slot, an Antenna Connecter, AC Mains Socket and 5 LEDs.

SIMADO GFXD1111S has 1 FXS Port, 1 FXO Port, a Communication Port, a SIM Card Slot, an Antenna Connecter, a Power Socket and 5 LEDs.


FXS Port

FXS port labeled as FXS is used to connect telephone instrument with CLI display to SIMADO GFXD1111S. It is also used to connect GFXD1111S to the FXO Port of the PBX.

FXO Port

FXO Port labeled as FXO is used to connect SIMADO GFXD1111S to the PSTN network or to the FXS Port of the PBX.

Communication Port

Communication Port labeled as 'COM 10101' is used to connect SIMADO GFXD1111S to a computer.

SIM Card Slot

SIM Card slot labeled as SIM Card is used to insert a SIM Card/ RUIM Card of a Service Provider.

AC Mains Socket

AC Mains Socket is used to power SIMADO GFXD1111 using Direct AC Mains input 90-265VAC, 47-63 Hz, 5W.

Power Socket

A Power socket labeled as 12V DC is used to power SIMADO GFXD1111S using 1.25A power adaptor.

Antenna Connecter

A socket labeled as 'ANTENNA' is used to connect Antenna to SIMADO GFXD1111S for mobile network.

LEDs

5 LEDs labeled as FXS, FXO, NW, RDY and PWR are as shown in the figure below. These LEDs indicate the status of the ports, various events occurring on the ports and also the error conditions.

Programming SIMADO GFXD1111S

SIMADO GFXD1111S can be configured either in Mobile-FXS Mode or Mobile-FXO Mode.

In Mobile-FXS Mode, all three ports viz. Mobile, FXO and FXS are functional. By default, system is configured in this mode of operation.

SE should configure GFXD1111S in one of the following three modes of operation as per the requirement of the user:

1. Speech + SMS (Default Configuration)2. SMS + Internet + Fax + Data3. Report Generation

(Refer “Mode of Operation” for more details)

In Mobile-FXO Mode, only two ports viz. FXO and Mobile are functional. In this type of configuration, FXS port is used only for programming the system. This type of configuration is useful when a mobile user wants to access the station/trunk line of the PBX via GSM/CDMA network. (Refer “Mobile-FXO Mode” for more details)

Programming of SIMADO GFXD1111S can be done using following four methods:1. Programming through COM Port (Refer “Programming the System through COM Port”)2. Programming through FXS Port (Refer “Programming the System through FXS Port”)3. Programming through Mobile Port (Refer “Programming the System through Mobile Port”)4. Programming using SMS (Refer “Programming the System using SMS”)

CHAPTER 3 Getting Started

Protecting SIMADO GFXD1111S

You should take following measures to protect your SIMADO GFXD1111S.

Installation Precautions:

• Do not turn on the power supply until the installation is complete.• Do not install the system in direct sunlight and the place where there is excessive cold or humid

atmosphere.• Do not install the system where sulfuric gases are produced and in areas where there are thermal springs

because it may damage the equipment.• Do not install the system at the places where shocks or vibrations are frequent or strong.• Do not install the system at dusty places or places where it may come in direct contact with oil or water.• The system should be installed at the place where enough open space is there for ventilation.

Safety Instructions:

You should always take basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to the system as well as the person using it. Follow the steps given below:

• Read and understand all the instructions given in the manual.• Unplug the product from the wall outlet before cleaning and do not use liquid cleaners. Use only dry and

soft cloth.• Do not use the product near water.• Do not open the system in power ON condition.• Do not place the product at the place from where it can fall and serious damage may be caused to the

product.• Interfacing cables should not touch the exposed power line cable.• The product should be operated with proper power voltage supply.• Do not place the product where power cord can be misused.• Reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to the system by taking the product to a qualified serviceman

for repair work or servicing. Removing covers or opening the system or incorrect reassembly may cause electric shock when used subsequently.


Caution/Warning:

Unplug the system from the wall outlet and contact the qualified service personnel under the following conditions:• When the power supply cord or plug is damaged or frayed.• If liquid has been spilled into the product.• If the product has been exposed to rain or water.• If product has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.• If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls

which are covered by the operating instructions because improper adjustment of other controls may result in damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to normal operation.

• If the product has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.• If the product exhibits a distinct change in the performance.

Protecting the system from Lightning:

• Protecting the system from high current surges is achieved by installing primary protection device. A lightning protector is a primary protection device which is used to prevent a dangerous surge form entering the building and damaging a system. For equipment installed in a more exposed environment, it is necessary to protect the system with primary protectors such as PPMs. With the development of electronic equipment, problem due to lightning surges have increased. A dangerous surge can occur if a telephone line comes in contact with a power line. A lightning protector should be installed on an outside (CO) line to prevent a dangerous surge from entering the building and damaging the system.

• The best place for the insertion of the primary protection is the cable entry point of the building, shelter or equipment housing.

• This is not always possible but every attempt should be made to place the primary protection as close as possible to the entry point of the cables into the building, shelter or equipment housing.

• Hence, the system should be installed with lightning protectors. In addition, grounding (connection to earth ground) is very important to the system.

Warning for RF Safety:This product complies with the RF exposure guidelines as per standard FCC 47 CFR part 2. However, following recommendations are solicited:

• Ensure that the RF Antenna is installed atleast 20 cms away from other electronic and radio transmission devices.

• Also ensure that the RF antenna is installed at a place atleast 20 cms away from people's vicinity. • Do not place the magnetic storage media near the device.• People carrying medical implants like cardiac pacemakers are advised to maintain appropriate distance

from the system. They are also advised to avoid being in the vicinity of the product for a long time.

Make sure that all the above mentioned components are present when you open the Sales Kit of SIMADO GFXD1111S. In case any of the part is missing or damaged, contact the vendor from whom you have purchased the system.

Mounting on Wall

• Select a suitable place on the wall for mounting the SIMADO GFXD1111S.• Put the mounting template on the wall and mark the nail hole on the wall.• Drill a hole of appropriate size.• Insert the nail grip in the hole.• Insert the screw and tighten it leaving the screw head a few millimeters protruded of the wall. • Check the strength of the nail.• Hang SIMADO GFXD1111S on the wall.

Connecting SIMADO GFXD1111S

SIMADO GFXD1111S can be used as stand-alone system as well as it can also be interfaced with the PBX. It should be installed at the airy, dust free and moisture free place.

Follow the steps given below to connect GFXD1111:• Place SIMADO GFXD1111 at a place where it can get AC power supply and network signals.• Connect Antenna provided with the system to the TNC connector, labeled as 'ANT' of GFXD1111.• Connect telephone instrument with CLI display to the FXS port of GFXD1111 with the help of RJ11 cable.

You can also connect FXS port of GFXD1111 to the FXO port of the PBX.• Connect PSTN (CO) line to the FXO port of GFXD1111 with the help of RJ11 cable. You can also connect

FXO port of GFXD1111 to the FXS port of the PBX.• Connect a computer to the COM port of GFXD1111 with the help of COM port cable.• Insert SIM card/RUIM card of the service provider in the SIM Card Slot of GFXD1111.• Connect AC Mains input of GFXD1111 to the AC Mains Socket and power On the system.

Follow the steps given below to connect GFXD1111S:• Place SIMADO GFXD1111S at a place near wall Socket and where it can get proper network signals.• Connect Antenna provided with the system to the TNC connector, labeled as 'ANT' of GFXD1111S.• Connect telephone instrument with CLI display to the FXS port of GFXD1111S with the help of RJ11 cable.

You can also connect FXS port of GFXD1111S to the FXO port of the PBX.• Connect PSTN (CO) line to the FXO port of GFXD1111S with the help of RJ11 cable. You can also connect

FXO port of GFXD1111S to the FXS port of the PBX.• Connect a computer to the COM port of GFXD1111S with the help of Ethernet cable.• Insert SIM card/RUIM card of the service provider in the SIM Card Slot of GFXD1111S.• Connect Power Socket of GFXD1111S to the DC Jack using 12V DC Power Adaptor provided to you and

switch ON the power supply.

To protect the SIM card inserted in the system from being mis-used, SE is recommended to change the SIM PIN. Please ensure that SIM PIN of the SIM Card and that of the system is same. By default, SIM PIN of the system is 1234. To change the SIM PIN, follow the steps given below:

• Switch Off GFXD1111S.• Remove SIM Card and insert the same in the mobile instrument.• Enable 'SIM PIN at Power ON' parameter in the SIM Card.• Change the SIM PIN of the SIM Card to 1234. (default)• Insert SIM Card in GFXD1111S and switch on the system. Change the SIM PIN after GFXD1111S attains

normal working position.


Switching ON SIMADO GFXD1111S

After connecting the system as shown above, switch ON the power supply.

At Power ON (During Reset Sequence):

• LED labeled as 'PWR' will glow green continuously.• LED labeled as 'FXO', 'FXS' and 'RDY' will blink (RED) four times (500ms On, 500ms Off) and then turns

Off. • LED labeled as 'NW' starts blinking (RED) after few seconds of Power On. It indicates the network

availability.• When SIM Card is detected, LED labeled as 'RDY' will start blinking (RED) slowly (1 sec On- 1 sec Off) till

successful network registration. After that, it will glow RED continuously. Network registration takes approximately 90 seconds.

• LED labeled as 'RDY' will blink (RED) fast (100 msec On- 100 msec Off) if SIM Card is absent or deactivated or SIM PIN is faulty or SIM PUK is required.

During Normal Functioning:

Following table shows various LED indications during the normal functioning of the system:

OFF Indicates that GFXD1111S is power Off.

RDY ON SIM Card is present and active.

OFF GFXD1111S powered On but SIM Card is not detected.

Blinking (100 msec On-100 msec Off)

SIM card is absent or de-activated or SIM PIN is faulty or SIM PUK is required.

Blinking (1 sec On-1 sec Off)

SIM Card detected but is not registered with the network.

Blinking (2000 msec

On- 2000 msec Off)a

a. Applicable only when Call Minutes feature is enabled for Mobile Port. (Refer “Call Minutes” for more details)

Indicates that either:1. 20 minutes or less than 20 minutes of free Call Minutes are left.

Or2. The free Call Minutes allocated to the Mobile Port are utilized.

FXS ON Indicates that FXS Port is OFF-Hook.

OFF Indicates that FXS Port is ON-Hook.

Once the system attains normal working condition, you can configure it either in Mobile-FXS Mode or Mobile-FXO Mode. By default, system is configured in 'Mobile-FXS Mode'. SE is recommended to program the system in following sequence:

• Date and Time• Network selection• Port Parameters-Mobile• Port Parameters-FXS• Port Parameters-FXO• Mode of Operation• Least Cost Routing• System Parameters• Emergency Number Dialing and so on.

While programming the system, if you want to restart the system, enter programming mode by dialing #*19-1234 and then dial 105-1234-#*. To reprogram the system, enter programming mode and default the system by dialing 106-4321-#* first and then reprogram the system.

Making a Call

• Lift the handset of the telephone instrument connected to SIMADO GFXD1111S. You will get the dial tone.• Dial the desired number. You will hear the RBT.• Talk when the called party answers the call.• Replace the handset to disconnect the call.

Receiving a Call

• Ring on telephone instrument connected to SIMADO GFXD1111S.• Lift the handset to talk.• You will be in speech with the calling party.• Replace the handset when the call is disconnected.


CHAPTER 4 Features of SIMADO GFXD1111S

Allowed-Denied Numbers

Allowed-Denied number feature provides you the flexibility to allow or deny dialing of a particular number or a set of numbers. This feature is used to restrict the users from dialing the numbers that are programmed in the Denied number list.

When you dial out a number on FXS port of GFXD1111S, it will compare the dialed number string with the numbers programmed in allowed and denied number lists. One of the following situations may arise:

• If the dialed number matches with the allowed list number then GFXD1111S will dial out that number.• If the dialed number matches with the denied list number then GFXD1111S will not process the call further

and will give an error tone to the caller.• If dialed number does not match any of the numbers programmed in allowed and denied number list then

GFXD1111S will dial out that number.• If same number is programmed in both allowed and denied number list then GFXD1111S will dial out that

number.

How to program?

Before you start programming allowed-denied number list, list down the numbers that you want to allow and deny on a piece of paper first. You must enter SE mode to program the allowed and denied number list. You can program maximum 32 numbers in both allowed and denied number list. Each entry can be of maximum 16 characters.

Two digits will be used for programming each alpha-numeric digits. For e.g. to program character A in the number string, you should program #4. Therefore, while programming telephone number you will be able to program a number string of maximum 8 digits only if it consists of all alphanumeric characters.

Automatic Number Translation

Automatic Number Translation feature translates the number dialed by the user to the number that is understood by the PSTN or GSM/CDMA network. SE can program ANT table for both FXO and Mobile Port.

Let us take an example to understand this feature:Suppose user dials 952668263172 from the telephone instrument connected to the FXS port of the system since he is habituated to dial numbers in this way on the POTS network. SIMADO GFXD1111S routes this call through GSM/CDMA port to the desired destination depending on the programming done. But GSM/CDMA network does not understand the dialed number string. Instead it expects the user to dial +912668263712. Automatic Number Translation feature does this.

To accomplish this, SE should program 95 in dialed number string and +91 in the substitute number list. Doing so, whenever the user dials number string starting with digits 95, ANT will translate it to +91 and then will route the call to the desired destination number.

GFXD1111S also supports multi-stage dialing through its Mobile/FXO Port. (Refer “Multi-Stage Dialing” for more details)

How to Program?

Automatic Number Translation table consists of following columns:

1. Index: This is the number at which entry is done. Total 32 entries can be made in the Automatic Number Translation table from 1 to 32.

2. Dialed Number String: Program the numbers that user can dial out from SIMADO GFXD1111S in this column.

3. Substitute Number String: Program the numbers that the system should dial out in place of the dialed

number string in this column.

• If user dials other combinations of # and * then the system will give error tone to the user.• Two digits will be used for programming each alpha-numeric digits. For e.g. to program character A in

the number string, you should program #4. Therefore, you will be able to program only 8 alphanumeric characters in the dialed number string and 20 alphanumeric characters in the substitute number string.

• ANT report will show only the characters and not the codes used for programming the characters in the printed form.

Call Back

When the user is in National / International roaming, it is expensive to make outgoing calls. In such cases a Callback request can be made by the user on the Mobile port of the system. The system will automatically initiate the call to the user. This helps the organisation to reduce roaming cost.

How it works?

User A wants to call User B using Callback.

• You need to enable ‘Callback’ and program the Callback Table. The Callback table has two parameters, namely:

• Calling Number: It is the number of the caller who makes a Callback request. In this case, User A.

• Destination Number: It is the final called party number. In this case, User B.

• User A initiates a Callback call on the Mobile Port.

• The system checks the CLI of User A with the Calling Numbers programmed in the Callback Table.

• A match is found, the system rejects the call.

• The system calls back User A.

• User A answers the call. The system checks for a corresponmding Destination Number (User B) in the Callback Table.

• A match is found, system dials out User B’s number.

• User B asnwers the call.

• Speech between User A and User B.

• If User B’s number is not programmed as the Destination Number, the system provides dial tone to User A, when User A answers the call.

• This feature functions only:• When the set system mode is set to ‘Mobile-FXO’;• When CLI is received for the incoming call.

• If the system dials out the callback number and the call is not matured due to any reason, the system treats the callback request as served. It will not retry callback.

• Callback request will be served only when Mobile Port is idle.

How to Program?

Call Divert

Call Divert feature enables the user to divert his calls to another destination number:• When he is busy• When he is not available• When there is no network coverage • When SIMADO GFXD1111S is switched Off

Call divert feature is service provider dependent feature, it has to be activated by the service provider whose SIM is inserted in the system. This feature is useful when SIMADO GFXD1111S is connected to the PBX.

SIMADO GFXD1111S supports following four types of call divert:• Unconditional• When Busy• When No-Reply• When SIMADO GFXD1111S is Off or there is no network coverage

Call Divert-Unconditional means all incoming calls are diverted unconditionally to the destination programmed.

Call Divert-When busy means all the incoming calls on the Mobile Port are diverted to the destination programmed if the Mobile Port is busy on another call.

Call Divert-When No Reply means all the incoming calls on the Mobile Port are diverted to the destination number programmed if the Mobile Port does not answer the call.

Call Divert-When SIMADO GFXD1111S is Off or there is no coverage means all incoming calls are diverted to the destination number programmed if GFXD1111S is off or there is no network coverage.

How to Program?

Call divert feature can be programmed from SE mode as well as from SA mode.

Call Minutes

Mobile Service providers offer various schemes to its customers. One of the scheme which most service providers offers to its customers is to provide first few minutes free every month. SIMADO GFXD1111S supports Call Minutes feature on Mobile Port to utilize the benefit of this scheme.

Let us understand this feature with the help of an example:Suppose SIMADO GFXD1111S is installed in a company. The service provider offers first 1000 minutes free every month. It is desirable that all the outgoing calls are made using free minutes offered by the service provider. To use this feature, enable Call Minutes and program the free minutes allowed for Mobile Port. Now whenever user makes outgoing calls through mobile port, it will not be charged. The free call minutes programmed for the Mobile Port will be used.

When these free minutes are consumed, SIMADO GFXD1111S provides two options to the user.1. Block Outgoing Calls: If this option is set then SIMADO GFXD1111S will not allow outgoing calls from

that mobile port after the free minutes allocated to the port are utilized.

2. Alert and allow Outgoing Calls: If this option is set, SIMADO GFXD1111S will indicate to the user that

the free minutes are about to be exhausted through LED1 indication and also by playing alert tone before dialing a number on the Mobile Port.

The alert tone and the LED indication will begin when 20 free minutes are remaining and will continue until free minutes are added again. All calls made after utilization of the free call minutes will be charged as per the charges set by the service provider.

SIMADO GFXD1111S maintains total minutes usage of Mobile Port. When outgoing call is made through the Mobile Port, system will update its 'Minutes Used Counter' simultaneously. While counting call minutes, the fraction of last minute is rounded up to complete one minute. For example, if the call duration is of 3 minutes and 56 seconds, it is rounded up as 4 minutes in the system.

SIMADO GFXD1111S provides flexibility to reset minutes used either manually or automatically. If scheduled reset is enabled then call minutes counter will reset automatically at the programmed date. In case of manual reset, SE will have to manually reset the call minutes counter.

• The free call minutes will not be utilized when emergency numbers are dialed.• Minute Used Counter is not cleared in case of power failure. SIMADO GFXD1111S will retain the last

updated value before power failure when the system is switched on.

• If CDMA module is installed in SIMADO GFXD1111S, call duration displayed for outgoing calls would not be accurate and some missed calls would also be stored in the outgoing calls buffer.

Call Progress Tones

Call Progress Tones (CPT) are audible tones sent from switching systems such as PSTN or PBX to calling parties to show the status of phone calls, like dial tone, error tone, busy line, etc. Each tone has a distinctive tone frequency and cadence assigned to it, for which some standards have been established.

CPT standards for various tones are applied differently in different situations or countries. Also, most tone standards vary with the country of application. For example, as per ITU standard, the Dial Tone for India consists of 400Hz modulated by 25Hz, whereas it is 350+440Hz, without modulation, for USA/Canada.

SIMADO GFXD1111S supports following types of Call Progress Tones:

Dial Tone: GFXD1111S plays dial tone1. When FXS port goes Off-Hook.2. When there is an incoming call on the Mobile Port in Mobile-FXO mode and Mobile Port-Routing Type is

set to 'Dial and Connect'.3. When there is an incoming call on the FXO Port in Mobile-FXO mode and FXO Port-Routing Type is set to

'Dial and Connect' etc.

Busy Tone: GFXD1111S plays busy tone1. When there is an incoming call on FXO Port and FXO Port is found busy.2. When there is an incoming call on Mobile Port and Mobile Port is found busy etc.

Error Tone: GFXD1111S plays error tone1. When user execute some invalid operation or try to access denied features. 2. When an invalid command is entered in programming mode.3. When user is dialing a number on a port and an incoming call lands on it.4. When the system is configured in Mobile-FXO Mode and an incoming call on Mobile Port is dialed out on

FXO Port but FXO Port is disabled.5. When the system is configured in Mobile-FXO Mode and an incoming call on FXO Port is dialed out on

Mobile Port but Mobile Port is disabled etc.

Programming Tone: GFXD1111S plays programming tone1. When the user is in programming mode and is waiting for the SE/SA to enter the programming command.

Confirmation Tone: GFXD1111S plays confirmation tone1. When the SIMADO GFXD1111S successfully execute a feature command/ programming command issued

by the user. This tone remains for 3 seconds in the programming mode. In the feature access mode it remains for 3 seconds and after that, user gets error tone, till the user goes ON-Hook. For All Countries, Confirmation Tone is 400Hz, 0.1 on 0.1 off.

Ring Back Tone: GFXD1111S plays ring back tone1. When user out dials the destination number of the remote device and if that number is free, the user will

get Ring Back Tone (RBT). The cadence and frequency for different countries are as per Table.

Above mentioned tones are country specific and SE can program Call Progress Tones specific to the country of installation. SIMADO GFXD1111S will play tones as per the country selected. Frequency and Cadence of the tones are not programmable.

How to Program?

Call Progress Tones for specific country can be programmed from SE mode only.

Data Services

The GSM Data Services allows GSM users to send and receive data files over the GSM network. Matrix SIMADO GFXD1111S supports sending and receiving of data from its Mobile Port. For this application, SIMADO GFXD1111S should be in SMS + Internet + Fax + Data mode. (Refer “Mode of Operation” for more details)

This feature is not supported if CDMA Module is installed in the Mobile Port.

How to Send and Receive Data using the SIMADO GFXD1111S?

The data transfer service for SIMADO GFXD1111S must be enabled by the Service Provider. SIMADO GFXD1111S must be operating in SMS + Internet + Fax + Data Mode.

• Set Baud Rate (SMS + Internet + FAX + Data) to either '0 (Autobauding)' or '9600' by using command: 232-Baud Rate-#*. (Refer “Mode of Operation” for details)

• Set up the Modem. • Create a connection type using HyperTerminal.• Make all settings same on both PCs. The receiving PC should be in 'Wait for Call', when user is in dialing

state.• You can successfully send/receive data using the SIMADO GFXD1111S.

How to program?

Setup the Modem:1. Click on Start Control Panel.


2. Control Panel window will open up as shown below. Double click on the 'Phone and Modem Options' icon.

3. 'Phone and Modem Options' window will open as shown below. Click on Add button.


4. 'Add Hardware Wizard' window will open. Check 'Don't detect my modem; I will select from a list' option in the window. Click on 'Next' button.

5. Select 'Standard 9600bps Modem' from the available modem options in the window and click on 'Next' button.


6. Select 'COM1' port in the window and click on 'Next' button.

7. Click on 'Finish' button. Modem will be installed as shown below:


Create Connection Type using HyperTerminal:1. Click on Start Programs Accessories Communications HyperTerminal.

2. New Connection window will appear. Enter name for the connection in 'Name' field as shown below and then click OK.


3. 'Connect To' window will appear on the screen. Enter area code and phone number as well as select country in 'Country/region' field and modem in 'Connect using' field as shown below. Click OK.

4. 'Connect' window will appear on the screen. Click on 'Modify' button, if phone number is to be modified else click on 'Cancel' button.

5. Click on File Properties of HyperTerminal screen. Uncheck 'Use country/region code and area code' checkbox. Uncheck 'Redial on busy' checkbox and click on OK.


Sending Data Files:1. Click on Call Dial.

2. System will give message 'Dialing'.

3. To connect HyperTerminal of your computer to the receiving computer, ensure that the HyperTerminal of the receiving computer is set to 'Wait for a call' mode, when you click on 'Call' as shown below else you will not be able to send or receive any file.


4. Click Transfer File Send File. Select your file to be sent for browser and setup protocol as 'Zmodem'. Click Send.

5. Message 'Sending' will appear as shown below:

Receiving Data Files:1. On HyperTerminal, click on Call Wait for a call.


2. During 'Receive', Click on Transfer Receive File.

3. Choose location to store received file.

4. When a remote GFXD1111S unit or some other GSM terminal, transmits data on user's GFXD1111S unit, the message appears as shown below.

Date and Time

SIMADO GFXD1111S is equipped with built in Real Time Clock (RTC) circuit. This circuit is to be set once with current date and time values. It then updates itself regularly to keep track of the parameters. However, the RTC circuit can drift over a long period. Hence it is recommended to check and reset RTC values at least once every month to correct this drift. Please note that the system RTC takes care of the leap year.

How to Program?

Use following command to set date and time parameters:251-DD-MM-YY-HH-MM-#*Where,DD indicates date in two digits from 01 to 31.MM indicates month in two digits from 01 to 12.YY indicates year in two digits from 00 to 99.HH indicates hours in 24-hours format in two digits from 00 to 23. Emergency Number Dialing

Emergency Number Dialing feature enables user to call emergency services such as Ambulance, Fire Brigade, Police, etc. in adverse situations. SIMADO GFXD1111S facilitates dialing of emergency numbers through its Mobile Port. For dialing emergency number, the Mobile Port should be enabled.

Emergency number Dialing will not work if Mains power to SIMADO GFXD1111S fails.

How it Works

In System Firmware Version below V3R22

While dialing out an emergency number, SIMADO GFXD1111S will check emergency number table first. If the dialed number matches the number programmed in the emergency number table then it will dial out that number even in following situations:

• When SIM is absent• When SIM is invalid• When wrong SIM PIN is entered• When SIM is blocked• When GSM module is not registered

When SIM is absent or SIM is invalid or wrong SIM PIN is entered or SIM is blocked, GSM module will consider only those numbers which are available in the GSM module as emergency numbers. By default, following emergency numbers are available in the GSM module: 000, 08, 112, 110, 911, 999 etc.

In System Firmware Version V3R22 and Higher

When SIMCOM-2G engine (SIM340-B01 or higher) or SIMCOM-3G engine (Version V1.18 or higher) is installed, SIMADO GFXD1111S will dial out only the numbers available in the Emergency Number Table as emergency numbers.

SIMADO GFXD1111S will dial out the fixed numbers available in the emergency number table even in the following situations:

• When SIM is absent• When SIM is invalid• When wrong SIM PIN is entered• When SIM is blocked• When GSM module is not registered

How to Program

• You can program numbers of your choice in index numbers 1 and 2 of the Emergency Number Table.

You are recommended to program the numbers prevalent as Emergency Numbers in your region, in the Emergency Number Table.

• Numbers available in index numbers 3 to 5 are fixed i.e. they are non-programmable.

• You can program Destination Port for all five Emergency Numbers.

Fax Services

How to Send and Receive FAX using SIMADO GFXD1111S?

• Set Baud Rate (SMS + Internet + FAX + Data) to either '0 (Autobauding)' or '19200' by using command: 232-Baud Rate-#*. (Refer “Mode of Operation” for details)

• The Fax Service for the SIM used in the SIMADO GFXD1111S must be enabled by the Service Provider.• A PC Fax application (commonly used PC Fax applications are Bitware, WinFax and Mighty Fax) must be

installed in the PC.• Wait for 3 minutes after power ON or restarting the system before setting the system for FAX services.

How to Program?

• Install the PC Fax application on your computer using the wizard of the PC Fax application.• Connect COM port of the SIMADO GFXD1111S to the COM port of the computer using modem cable

(Provided with the system).

Setup the Modem1. Click on Start Control Panel.



7. Click on 'Finish' button. Modem will be installed as shown below. Click on 'Properties' button.


8. Select Maximum port speed, as '19200' and click OK.

Setup for Sending FAX1. Click on Start Program Symantec WinFax PRO WinFax PRO Message Manager.2. Click Tools Program Setup.


3. Select 'Modem and Communication Device' and click on 'Properties' button.

4. Modems and Communication Devices window will appear as shown below. Select 'Standard 19200' bps Modem and tick the 'Active' check box of the selected modem and click on OK.

5. Following message will appear on the screen. Click on 'Yes' button.


6. Modem Configuration Wizard: Ready to Test window will appear on the screen. Click on 'Next' button.

7. Modem Configuration Wizard: Testing modem window will appear. Again click on 'Next' button.

8. Select 'Class 1 (Hardware Flow Control)' in the window that appears on the screen. Click on 'Next'.


9. Modem Configuration exit Wizard will appear on the screen. Click on 'Finish' button.

10. Now, select location for the standard modem and click OK.

11. Modems and Communication Devices Properties window will appear on the screen. Select 'Standard 19200' Modem and click on active box for it. Click on 'Properties' button.


12. Select 'COM1' in communication port, initialize at 19200 bps and Modem Type: Class 1.0. Click on 'FAX'.

13. Enter Initializing string sequence: AT&C1&D2S7=55 and Reset=ATZ. Click on 'Apply' button and OK.


Setup for Receiving Fax1. For 'Receive Setup', go to 'Modems and Communication Devices Properties' screen. Select Connection

Device as Standard 19200 bps Modem and check 'Active' Box as shown below. Click on 'Receive Setup' button.

2. In 'Receive Properties', ensure that: When answering on = Standard 19200bps Modem, Answer after = 2 rings. Click on 'Apply' and OK.


3. For Transmit Setup, go to Modem and Communication Device properties screen. (as per point no.3) Select Connection Device as Standard 19200 bps Modem and check 'Active' Box as shown below. Click on 'Dialing Setup. Ensure that 'Dialing Properties' is as shown below. Click on OK.

Sending and Receiving FaxTo Send Fax:

1. Open WinFax PRO Message Manager screen. Click on 'Send' To: Matrix (or Name), Number: Enter the number where fax is to be sent. Enter the text content of the Fax message on the 'Cover Page'. Click 'Send'.

GPRS (General Packet Radio Service)

The General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a new value added service that allows information to be sent and received across a mobile telephone network. Some important applications of GPRS are Chat, transfer of textual/visual information, transfer of Still and moving images, Web Browsing, File Transfer etc.For this application, the system should be configured in Mobile-FXS Mode, which is the default configuration of the system. (Refer “Mobile-FXO Mode” for more details)

This feature is not supported if CDMA Module is installed in the Mobile port.

To surf the Internet using SIMADO GFXD1111S, it should be configured in SMS + Internet + Fax + Data mode. GPRS service for the SIM Card used in the system must be enabled by the Service Provider.

• Set Baud Rate ('SMS + Internet + FAX + Data’) to either '0 (Autobauding)' or '115200' by using command: 232-Baud Rate-#*. (Refer “Mode of Operation” for details)

• Set up a Modem.• Set up the Dial-Up network.• Get connected to the New GPRS connection.• Use the Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator to surf the Internet.

How to program?

Installing Modem1. Click on Start Control Panel.



7. Click on 'Finish' button. Phone and Modem Options window will appear on the screen as shown below. Select the installed modem and click on 'Properties' button.


8. In Modem Properties window, click on 'Advanced' tab and enter 'Extra Initialization Commands' as given by the service provider. For example enter: AT+CGDCONT=1, "IP", "airtelgprs.com".

Establish a GPRS Dial-Up Connection:1. Click on Start Control Panel.


2. Control Panel window will open up. Click on 'Network Connections' icon.

3. New Connection Wizard will open up. Click 'Next' button.


4. Select 'Connect to the Internet' option and click on 'Next' button.

5. Select 'Set my connection manually' and click 'Next' button.


6. Select 'Connect using a dial up modem' and click 'Next' button.

7. Enter name of your ISP in 'ISP Name' field and click on 'Next' button.


8. Enter phone number in 'Type phone number below' field and click 'Next' button.

9. Select 'Anyone's Use' radio button and click 'Next' button.


10. Enter User Name and Password in Username, Password and Confirm Password field respectively. Tick other two check boxes given on Internet Account Information page and click 'Next' button.

11. Tick 'Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop' check box and click on 'Finish' button.


Sending/Receiving GPRS Data:1. Click Start 'Setting' Network and Dial Up Connection ' GFXD1111_GPRS. GPRS Connection window will

open up. Enter 'Username' and 'Password' and click on 'Dial' button to establish GPRS connection.

Hotline

Hotline feature enables you to program a particular number such that whenever you pick up the handset of the telephone instrument connected to GFXD1111S, the number programmed will be dialed out automatically after few seconds. The time period for which the GFXD1111S shall wait before dialing out the hotline number is called Hotline Delay Timer. Hotline feature relieves the caller from dialing frequently called number again and again.

How to Program?

International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI)

Just like mobile handsets, each GSM module has an IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number printed on its GSM engine. International Mobile equipment Identity number is a unique 15 or 17 digit code used to identify an individual GSM module to a GSM network. When GFXD1111S is switched on, the IMEI code is transmitted and is verified in the network database called Equipment Identity Register (EIR).

EIR consists of three lists: White list, Grey list and Black list.• White list consists of equipment identities that are fully permitted to access and use the network. • Black list contains all the equipment identities that are barred from using the network.• Grey list contains those equipment identities that are not barred form using the network services but are

tracked by the network for evaluation purpose.

Network will allow the GSM module to access the GSM network only if the IMEI code is registered in the white list of EIR. This number is useful in case SIMADO GFXD1111S is lost or stolen. When the GFXD1111S is lost or stolen, the network operator can block IMEI number of the GSM module installed in the system. Thus the important information stored in the GFXD1111S can be protected from being misused.

Currently used Structure of IMEI number is as follow:AA-BBBBBB-CCCCCC-DWhere,AA is Reporting Body Identifier, indicating the GSMA approved group that allocated the Type Allocation Code (TAC).BBBBBB is the remainder of the TAC.CCCCCC is serial sequence of the Model.D is Luhn check digit of the entire model or 0. (This is an algorithm that validates the ID number)

• In CDMA module, there is an Electronic Serial Number viz. ESN, which is similar to the IMEI number of GSM module. ESN number is 8 digit code and its structure is different from that of IMEI number.

• IMEI/ESN can be displayed on the SLT irrespective of the CLI type (DTMF/ V.23 FSK/ FSK Bellcore) programmed on the FXS port.

Least Cost Routing

SIMADO GFXD1111S supports Least Cost Routing feature which enables the SE to program the system in such a way that the telephone costs are reduced tremendously. LCR table is the key telephone cost cutting factor. SE shall program LCR table such that the system chooses the cheapest path to route the outgoing calls.

Depending on the dialed number or the time of the call, following types of LCR logic is supported by GFXD1111S:• No LCR• Time based LCR• Number based LCR• Mixed LCR

No LCRWhen 'No LCR' is selected, GFXD1111S will follow the rotation logic to route the calls. Rotation logic can be either ON or OFF. By default, Rotation is Off.

Rotation ON: When rotation ON is selected, first call will be routed through the Mobile Port, second call will be routed through the FXO Port, third call will be routed through the Mobile Port, fourth call will be routed through the FXO Port and so on.

Rotation OFF: When rotation OFF is selected, by default, all the calls will be routed through the Mobile Port, if the Mobile Port is accessible i.e. enabled and registered. If Mobile Port is not accessible then call will be routed through the FXO Port. Time Based LCRWhen 'Time Based LCR' is selected, the system will route the calls as per the programming done in Time Based LCR Table. Time based LCR is used when two different service providers offers different rates during different timings of the day.

Number Based LCRWhen 'Number Based LCR' is selected, the system will route the calls as per the programming done in Number Based LCR Table. Number based LCR is used when two different service providers offers different rates for calling different areas/telephone numbers.

Mixed LCRWhen 'Mixed Based LCR' is selected, the system will route the calls as per the programming done in Mixed Based LCR Table. Mixed LCR is used when two or more service providers offer different rates for different areas during different timings of the day.

Location Information Indication

Location Information Indication feature is used to display the location of installation of SIMADO GFXD1111S, when the location information display command is issued. This feature is service provider dependent and must be enabled by the service provider so as to use it. Network updates the current location information of the system, when the location of installation of the system is changed.

How to Program?

To use this feature, it should be enabled by the service provider. Then the SE shall enable this feature on the Mobile Port.

Metering on FXS Port

Simado GFXD1111S supports billing facility in the form of 'Metering pulses' in case a billing equipment is connected to the FXS Port of the system to generate the accurate bills. For this purpose, the metering pulses of 12/16 KHz are generated by the system on the FXS Port.

This parameter is applicable only for OG calls made from FXS Port. Metering pulses are generated on the FXS Port when the call gets matured. If PCO application is enabled, the system will match the number dialed on the FXS Port with the entries in the database of the PCO application. If the number matches any of the entry in the PCO application database then the system will wait for other port to get mature and then will generate the metering pulse on FXS Port as per the programmed value for that port.

Metering Pulse on FXS Port can be generated in one of the following forms:• None: It is used when no billing information is to be generated on FXS Port.• 12 KHz Metering Pulse: It is used when billing equipment connected to FXS Port can detect only 12 KHz

metering pulse.• 16 KHz Metering Pulse: It is used when billing equipment connected to FXS Port can detect only 16 KHz

metering pulse.

Mobile Network Selection

At each power-ON, the SIM inserted in GFXD1111S will start searching for the network and will register automatically with the available network.

However, when GFXD1111S is installed in a remote hilly place or at a place where it is surrounded by multi-storied buildings then in such situation it might not register with the desirable network. Also when GFXD1111S is located in an area where more than one Network Operator is available, it is possible that the SIM Card may register with another available network i.e. foreign network and thus result in 'Roaming' charges. To avoid this, you must select manual mode for network selection.

Before you select manual mode for network selection, you must program the Network Operator Priority Table. This

table requires you to program the Network Operator Codes (MCC-MNC)2 in order of priority for a Mobile Port. So, whenever you register with the network manually, the Mobile Port (SIM) will send a query to the available GSM Network Operators, who in turn will respond to the query with their Network Operator Codes. The Mobile Port will then match the Network Operator Codes it receives with those in the priority table you have programmed, and select the Network Operator that matches in order of priority.

If the SIM Card fails to register, it will restart the process of network selection on the expiry of the Network Registration Retry Timer. If no match is found, the Mobile Port (SIM) will not get registered with any of the available network operators and thus no calls will be processed on this port.

But in case user prefers to remain registered with any network operator and wants to make and receive calls at any cost then you must select automatic mode for network selection. In automatic mode, network is selected as per the field strength whereas in manual mode, network is selected as per the priority network codes programmed in the priority table.

Also program frequency band supported by the network operator's in your country. The Frequency Band supported by the GSM/CDMA networks varies across countries. Therefore select the Frequency Band used by the GSM/CDMA Service Provider(s) in the country where GFXD1111S is installed. For instance, set 900 + 1800 frequency band for the countries that support 900 or 1800 GSM frequency band.

• Select 'Automatic' mode for network selection when CDMA module is installed in GFXD1111S as CDMA network does not support 'Manual' mode for network selection.

• For CDMA, network operator code is programmed as '00000' (default) for priority 1 to 9. Because of these default settings, the CDMA port will get registered even if manual mode is selected for network selection.

How to Program?

SE shall program following three parameters for the network selection by SIM/RUIM installed in SIMADO GFXD1111S.

2. The Network Operator Code comprises of the Mobile Country Code (MCC) appended by the Mobile Network Code (MNC). The MCC is usually a 3-digit code that identifies a country. For example the MCC assigned to India is 404 and it applies to all network operators in the country. MCC for other countries are: USA-310; Canada-302; Australia: 505; Italy: 222.

The MNC is usually a 2/3-digit code. The MCC-MNC combination uniquely identifies the home network of the mobile terminal or the mobile user. For example, Airtel, a GSM network operator in India, has different MNC assigned to its networks in various states. The MNC for Airtel in the state of Maharashtra is 90, while the same for the state of Gujarat is 98.

Mobile-FXO Mode

When GFXD1111S is connected in Mobile-FXO mode, all three ports are functional. However, no call processing happens at the FXS Port. It is used for programming the system only.

When GFXD1111S is set to Mobile-FXO Mode and there is an incoming call on Mobile or FXO Mode then the system will route the incoming call as explained below:

Incoming Calls on Mobile Port:

When there is an incoming call on Mobile Port, GFXD1111S checks Mobile Port- Routing Type option first. GFXD1111S supports following Mobile Port-Routing Type options:

Connect and Dial

• If Mobile Port-Routing Type programmed is 'Connect and Dial' then GFXD1111S will answer the call on the Mobile Port and connect the speech path between FXO Port and Mobile Port by making FXO Port Off-Hook.

• Caller will get tone of PSTN or PBX, to which the FXO Port is connected.• Caller should dial the desired number and talk when the called party answers the call.

Fixed

• If Mobile Port-Routing Type programmed is 'Fixed' then GFXD1111S will not answer the incoming call on the Mobile Port. It will check Mobile Port-Destination Number field.

• If number is programmed in Mobile Port-Destination Number field then GFXD1111S will dial out that number on FXO Port and connect the speech path between FXO Port and Mobile Port.

Mode of Operation

SIMADO GFXD1111S has a flexibility to operate in one of the following three modes:1. Speech + SMS2. SMS + Internet + Fax + Data3. Report Generation

By default, GFXD1111S is set to Speech + SMS Mode. Mode of Operation does not change when the system restarts. However, mode of operation is set to default mode when the system gets default.

1. Speech + SMS

This is the default mode of configuration in GFXD1111S. When GFXD1111S operates in this mode, following operations are possible:• Programming• Making Calls• Receiving Calls• Receiving SMS• Sending SMS (Baud rate = 9600 bps)

• Do not make call and use SMS feature simultaneously.• When the system is switched on or restarted, the mode of operation does not change.• The system restarts as soon as the command to change the mode of operation is issued.• Command to default the system can be issued only in 'Speech + SMS' mode. In other modes, this

command will not be accepted.

2. SMS + Internet + Fax + Data

When GFXD1111S operates in this mode, following operations are possible:• Making outgoing calls through FXO Port• Receiving incoming calls through FXO Port• Receiving SMS• Sending SMS• Surfing the Internet• Sending and Receiving Fax• Sending and Receiving Data files

Baud Rate (SMS + Internet + FAX + Data)

When GFXD1111S is configured in SMS + Internet + Fax + Data mode then SE must program appropriate baud rate to run FAX and GPRS application. When system gets powered ON, it changes the baud rate of Mobile Module to 9600 bps. However, some FAX software such as Win FAX Pro etc. does not support 9600 baud rate. Therefore, whenever user wants to use FAX application, s/he has to change baud rate of the Module to 19200 bps. This is applicable every time the system gets restart. (Refer 'How to Program?' topic below for programming the baud rate.)

• SIMCOM-3G module does not support Baud Rate values 0 (Autobauding), 14400 bps and 28800 bps. Hence, if SIMCOM-3G module is installed in SIMADO GFXD1111S and user tries to set one of the above mentioned baud rate, system will give error tone to the user.

• In this configuration only limited features can be accessed. • When CDMA module is installed in the system and mode of operation is set to 'SMS + Internet + Fax +

Data', only SMS feature will work.


• User must restart the system to apply baud rate changes.• User must change the baud rate when the system configuration is changed from Speech + SMS mode

to SMS + Internet + FAX + Data mode or the system is restarted.

3. Report Generation

When GFXD1111S operates in this mode, following operations are possible:• Programming the System• Report Generation• Making outgoing calls through FXO Port• Receiving incoming calls through FXO Port

• In this mode, only command to change the mode of operation can be issued.• Reports are generated/seen on the hyper-terminal window. Make sure that the hyper terminal settings

are suitable for report generation.• When the system is switched on or restarted, the mode of operation does not change.• The system restarts as soon as the command to change the mode of operation is issued.

Many times it is required that the number dialed by the user should be manipulated, broken into parts and dialed out in various stages of the call. Multi-Stage dialing feature of GFXD1111S does this. For e.g. while using virtual calling card (generally used in POTS), the user has to dial a long string of numbers before s/he could talk to the destination. S/He dials a Toll-free number provided by the service provider followed by the Virtual card number followed by the destination number. (Some service providers also prompt the caller to select the language before navigating further in the menu). This is lengthy and tiresome. Multi-Stage Dialing feature of SIMADO GFXD1111S relieve the user from this tiresome exercise. GFXD1111S can be programmed in such a way that the user has to dial the destination number only and the system takes care of the rest.

Consider following examples:Example 1:An organization wants to connect all its branch offices using GSM network. GFXD1111S is connected in front of PBX in all the offices (FXS Port of GFXD1111S is connected to the FXO Port of the PBX). CUG services are availed from the GSM service provider for free dialing between all the GFXD1111S.

GFXD1111S of branch office A is so programmed that whenever any station of PBX at office A dials 3001, the call is placed to station 3001 of PBX at branch office B. Likewise, whenever any station of PBX at office A dials 4001, the call is placed to station 4001 of PBX at branch office C and vice-versa.

Example 2:A PCO owner at a remote rural, hilly location wants to provide telephony services to the residents of his area. GFXD1111S is installed at the PCO and a PBX (Eternity) with GSM card is installed in the urban area where fixed lines like POTS and ISDN are available. CUG services of the GSM service provider are availed. Both the SIMs, of GSM card and of GFXD1111S is provisioned under CUG for free calling. Fixed lines are also availed at very low rates.

GFXD1111S at the PCO is so programmed that whenever a customer makes a call, the call is first made to the GSM port of the Eternity and then using DISA services of the Eternity, the final destination number dialed by the user is dialed and the call to the final destination is made. However, the customer (the caller) has to dial only the destination number to which he needs to talk to.

Example 3:A User wants to dial ISD numbers using a virtual calling card of the service provider. For this every time s/he has to dial a fixed number string before dialing the actual number i.e. the number for using the calling card PIN number country code city code or area code destination number. This is a very long and tiresome process.

It is required that user should dial only the country code, area code and the destination number while GFXD1111S takes care of dialing the calling card number and the PIN number. This problem can be solved by programming ANT Table for multi-stage dialing.

How it works?

To accomplish the requirement mentioned in example 1:• The PBXs at all the locations should be programmed in such a way that whenever the station users of the

PBX dial the station numbers of other PBXs, the call is routed through the FXO Port on which GFXD1111S is connected and the dialed number string is so manipulated that GFXD1111S gets the station number of the other PBX.

• Also the FXO Ports of PBX to which GFXD1111S are connected should be programmed in DID/DISA mode.

• First the system would dial out 9898000001. When call arrives at GFXD1111S at location B, FXS Port rings. Since the FXS Port is connected to the FXO Port of the PBX at location B, the PBX answers the call. (The FXO Port of PBX should be programmed in DID/DISA mode)

• When the call is answered by PBX at location B, 3001 will be dialed out after the pause timer. • The call will be placed on the station 3001 at location B.

To accomplish the requirement mentioned in example 2:• The GSM Port of the PBX at location B should be programmed in DID/DISA mode.• The GFXD1111S at Location A should be programmed with following parameters:

• In dialed number string column, program the dialed number string as 0044.• In the corresponding substitute number string field, program the mobile number of GSM Port of PBX at

location B followed by DISA login code + Station Number + Station Password + Dialed Number String i.e. 9898000001WP107920015656P0044.

• Program Pause Timer and Call Proceeding Tone for Mobile Ports.

Now when the customer at PCO dials the number 00449652324256, following sequence of events would take place:

• GFXD1111S installed at Location A would check ANT Table. In ANT Table, the system would find number '0044'. Therefore it will check the corresponding substitute number string column. There it will find '9898000001WP107920015656P0044'.

• First the system would dial out 9898000001. When call arrives at GSM Port of the PBX at location B, since the GSM Port is programmed in DID/DISA mode, the PBX answers the call.

• After the pause timer, the system would dial 107920015656. Again it will wait for the pause timer and will dial out 00449652324256.

• The call will be placed on the dialed destination number.

Now when the user dials the number 00449652324256, following sequence of events would take place:• GFXD1111S would check ANT Table. In ANT Table, the system would find number '00'. Therefore it will

check the corresponding substitute number string column. There it will find Virtual card number + P + PIN number + P + 00.

• First the system would dial out the virtual card number. After Pause timer it would dial the PIN number. Again it will wait for the pause timer and would dial out 00449652324256.

• The call will be placed on the dialed destination number. Thus, the call is established and the user can talk to the desired destination number without dialing fix long number string again and again.

Please note that detection of DTMF digits received over GSM network is not perfect, hence 100% performance of this feature is not guaranteed. This is a technological limitation.

While dialing out the number on Mobile/FXO Port:• If character 'P' is detected by the system, the system will wait for pause timer programmed for that

Mobile/FXO Port before dialing the next digit.• If 'W' is programmed in the substitute number string then the system will dial out the characters

programmed before W and will wait for connect message from the mobile/FXO Port. On receiving connect message from Mobile/FXO Port, it will dial out the remaining number string of the destination number.

PCO Application

One of the most common applications of SIMADO GFXD1111S is to connect it with the PCO machine for routing the call through the cheapest route and provide the correct bill for the same to the caller. SIMADO GFXD1111S is connected to the PCO machine as shown in the figure given below:

For PCO application, SIMADO GFXD1111S is to be programmed in Mobile-FXS mode. Also program appropriate metering pulse for FXS port, to generate correct billing information on the PCO machine.

In order that the PCO machine generates the bills properly, the answer signaling information or metering pulse should be given either in the form of 12/16 KHz pulses or polarity reversal.

In PCO Application, the calls are routed either through Mobile Port or FXO Port depending on the LCR logic. SE should program the database consisting of area codes, pulse rates, concessional rates, normal/concessional timings and concessional dates for both Mobile and FXO Port.

Since the billing schemes for the landline and GSM/CDMA differs, two databases viz. Database 1 and Database 2 need to be programmed. Database 1 will be used if the call is made using the Mobile Port and Database 2 will be used if the call is made using the FXO port. Database 1 and Database 2 are retained even during power failures.

For Mobile Port:

Program Database 1 for Mobile Port.

Area Codes:Use following command to program an area code:531-Area Code Index-Area Code-#*Where,Area Code Index is from 0001 to 1000.Area Code is a number string of maximum eight digits.

Example:To program area code 022 (Mumbai) at index 0001, issue command '531-0001-022-#*'.

Maximum 1000 area codes can be programmed. To program more than 1000 area codes, the available area codes need to be compressed using following method:• Sort all the area codes in the increasing order. Write applicable pulse rates against each area code.• Group the area codes having common digits and same pulse rate type.• The common digits are the truncated area codes, which need to be programmed.• Program the truncated area code for the area code group formed.• Left out area codes must be entered individually.• Usually, the area codes of places in the remote areas from your city can be compressed in one code.• When the number is dialed, the system searches for the best fitting area code.• When the area code dialed by the user is not found in the area code table, the user is not allowed to

make the call, if metering pulse on FXS port is set to 12/16 KHz. In order to make the call through, first area code entry in the area code table is to be kept blank.

Let us take an example to understand the compression of area codes:Suppose you need to enter following area codes in the database table and the normal rates and concessional rates for calling these area codes are shown below:

Now, as all the above codes have same pulse rate, it is possible to compress them to one code. The code would be 011 and Normal Pulse rate and Concessional Pulse rate would be 80.0 and 40.0 respectively.

In case your database consists of area codes having different pulse rates then you must program different codes for area codes having different pulse rates as shown below:

• Program 011 code for area codes 0110 and 0112 as both have same Pulse rates.• Program 0113 code, for area codes 01130 and 01135 as both have same Pulse rates.• Program 012 code for area code 0124 as it have different pulse rate.

Pulse Rates:

Two types of pulse rates are programmed viz. normal pulse rate and concessional pulse rate. Normal pulse rates are applicable during normal timings of the day whereas concessional pulse rates are applicable during concessional timings of the day. Each pair of normal pulse rate and corresponding concessional pulse rate is identified by a pulse rate type. Total 25 pulse rate types can be programmed in the system. These pulse rate types can be assigned to an area code/s.

Emergency telephone numbers like that of police, fire, ambulance etc. are not required to be programmed in the table. When such number is dialed, the system will allow the call to go through and no answer signaling will be generated during the call.

Port Parameters-FXO

SE should program various FXO Port parameters for the functioning of SIMADO GFXD1111S. All these parameters are described below:

Enable/Disable FXO Port:

SE can enable/disable the FXO Port as per the requirement of the User. Disabling of FXO Port is required only in cases like problem in the exchange, hardware failure, etc. GFXD1111S will not route calls to/from FXO Port, when the FXO Port is disabled.

Use following command to enable/disable the FXO Port:211-Code-#*Where,

By default, the FXO port is enabled.

Dial Type:

SIMADO GFXD1111S supports two methods to out-dial the number on the FXO Port.• Pulse• DTMF

Select appropriate dial type depending on the requirement of the FXO Port.

Calling Line Identification and Presentation on FXO:

SIMADO GFXD1111S has the ability to detect the calling party number when the call originates on its FXO Port. Different types of signaling are used by different exchanges of different countries for sending the calling party number to the FXO Port. SIMADO GFXD1111S supports different types of CLI signaling for detection of Calling Party's number on FXO Port. These are:

• None• DTMF• V.23 FSK• Bellcore FSK

Where,

By default, CLI type selected is 'DTMF'.

CLI type 'None' is selected when the exchange does not support any type of CLI or user does not want to detect the CLI. Detecting CLI takes time and thus the routing of call gets delayed by 2-3 seconds, this delay can be avoided by using CLI type = 'None'.

Pause Timer:

Pause timer is the time for which GFXD1111S will wait while dialing out DTMF digits on the FXO Port when character P is detected in the DTMF number string. It is also known as 'Wait Before Dial' timer.

Use following command to program Pause Timer for FXO Port:217-Pause Timer-#*Where,Pause Timer is from 1 to 9 seconds.By default, Pause Timer is 2 seconds for the FXO Port.

Example: If number string to be dialed out on the FXO port is PPP234 and pause timer is programmed as 3 seconds then GFXD1111S will dial out digit 2 after P+P+P seconds i.e. 3+3+3=9 seconds.

Ring Cadence OFF Timer:

During an incoming call on a FXO port, the ring cadence varies from exchange to exchange and PBX to PBX. Some times this ring cadence OFF timer is as high as 5.5 seconds. GFXD1111S may consider it as a RING STOP event. However, in actual condition incoming call is still present. GFXD1111S facilitates programming of the ring cadence off timer so that the incoming call with quite a long ring off period can also be honored.

Answer Supervision on FXO Port:

When telecom equipment such as PCO Machine etc. is connected to the FXO Port of GFXD1111S and the call is initiated through it, it is necessary that the PCO machine understand that the call is answered on the remote end and starts billing. This can be done with the help of Answer Supervision on FXO Port.

Answer Supervision is a signal which is provided from the CO to the calling party, which indicates that the called party has answered and the call is matured. It is applicable only for outgoing calls.

Answer Supervision on FXO Port can be in one of the following forms:• None: This option is selected when no signaling is available from the CO. Call gets matured on expiry of

'Forced Maturity Timer' which is programmed as 15 seconds irrespective of whether the call actually gets matured or not.

After the expiry of 'Forced Maturity Timer', call duration timer will start and system will start detecting Disconnect Supervision signal programmed for that port.

• Battery Reversal: Battery Reversal is a maturity signal generated by the PSTN by reversing the battery polarity. For example, in dialing state if battery polarity is negative for TIP and positive for RING then after maturity of call TIP will become positive and RING will become negative.

After maturity of a call, call duration timer will start and system will start detecting Disconnect Supervision signal programmed for that port.

• 16 KHz/12 KHz: 16 KHz/12 KHz signal is a pulse generated by the CO for metering. It is a pulse generated by the CO as per the pulse rate programmed for the dialed number. Call gets matured on expiry of 'Forced Maturity Timer' which is programmed as 15 seconds irrespective of whether the call actually gets matured or not.

When the called party answers the call, CO network generates a 12 KHz/16 KHz signal. The call will not be considered as matured even if polarity reversal signal is detected before 12 KHz/16KHz signal. After maturity of a call, call duration timer will start and system will start detecting Disconnect Supervision signal programmed for that port.

To avoid the call disconnection due to Disconnect Supervision in Mobile-FXO mode, pause timer is provided. This pause timer is started while connecting incoming call on Mobile Port to the FXO Port and after expiry of the pause timer, the answer supervision logic is applied on FXO Port as explained above.

It is recommended to set the same answer signaling on FXO Port as supported by the CO (PSTN) network else the system might fail to detect the correct signaling on the FXO Port resulting in inaccurate billing etc.

Disconnect Supervision on FXO Port:

Disconnect information on FXO port can be detected in one of following two methods:1. Disconnect Signaling Detection on FXO Port2. Disconnect Tone Detection on FXO Port

1. Disconnect Signaling Detection on FXO PortDisconnect signaling is the signal given by the CO to detect far end disconnection in case of outgoing as well as incoming call. Disconnect Supervision on FXO Port can be provided by CO in one of the following forms:

• None: This option is selected when no signaling is available from the CO. If this option is selected then FXO Port will be released when the remote end disconnects the call or if the disconnect tone is detected on the FXO Port.

• Battery Reversal: Battery Reversal is a signal generated by the PSTN by reversing the battery polarity to indicate call disconnection in case of incoming as well as outgoing calls. For example, if in speech condition the battery polarity is negative for TIP and positive for RING then after call disconnection battery polarity for TIP becomes positive and RING becomes negative. On detecting this signal, FXO Port will be released and other port will get error tone of the system.

• Open Loop Disconnect: Open Loop Disconnect is a pulse which is generated by the CO on removing the battery for time period say, open loop disconnect timer and again connects it. The duration for Open Loop Disconnect pulse varies from one service provider to other and countrywise. If Open Loop signal is detected for the time less than the Open Loop Disconnect timer programmed then it will not be considered as valid open loop signal for releasing the port.

• Open Loop Disconnect Timer: Open Loop Disconnect Timer is applicable when Disconnect Supervision method selected is 'Open Loop Disconnect'. System detects the loop current for the time period programmed as Open Loop Disconnect Timer.

2. Disconnect Tone Detection on FXO PortDisconnect tone detection is one of the method by which call disconnection on FXO Port is detected by the system. When the called party disconnects the call, the PSTN sends a tone after some time to the calling party. On detecting this tone, the system releases the FXO Port. This tone is called 'Disconnection Tone'.

Disconnect tone detection is applicable on incoming and outgoing calls on FXO Ports. Disconnect tone consists of Cadence (On-Off time) and Frequency. Cadence for ON time and Off time is programmable. Frequency of disconnect tone can be in the range of 275-665 Hz. If the cadence of tone from CO matches with the programmed values and the frequency is in the detectable range then the system will consider it as valid disconnect tone and the call will be released.

Disconnect Tone Detection tolerance is +/-10%.

SE should program various FXS port parameters for smooth and proper functioning of SIMADO GFXD1111S. All these parameters are described below:

Call Forward:

Call Forward feature enables the user to forward his calls to another destination number when he is unable to attend the calls at his extension. Call Forward feature is applicable only on FXS Port and GFXD1111S supports only 'Call Forward: When No Reply'.

‘Call Forward- When No Reply’ means incoming calls on FXS Port are forwarded to the programmed destination number after the Call Forward- No Reply Timer. GFXD1111S can forward calls either to FXO Port or to the Mobile Port:

• Forward Calls to FXO Port: When there is an incoming call on Mobile Port and if the FXS Port does not answer the call within FXO Port-No Reply Timer, then the call will be forwarded to the FXO Port using FXO Port-Destination Number.

• Forward Calls to Mobile Port: When there is an incoming call on FXO Port and if the FXS Port does not answer the call within Mobile Port-No Reply Timer, then the call will be forwarded to the Mobile Port using Mobile Port-Destination Number.

• Forward Calls to Mobile Port - Dual Ring: When Dual Ring is enabled and there is an incoming call on FXO Port and if the FXS Port does not answer the call within Mobile Port-No Reply Timer, then the ring on the FXS port will not stop and simultaneouly the call will be forwarded to the Mobile Port using Mobile Port-Destination Number. Answering the call on FXS Port will disconnect the call on Mobile Port and answering the call on Mobile Port will stopo ringing on the FXS port.

SIMADO GFXD1111S has capability to detect and present the calling party number on the LCD display of the telephone instrument connected to its FXS Port. This is called Calling Line Identification and Presentation.

SIMADO GFXD1111S can generate following types of signaling on its FXS Port:1. DTMF (Number, Ring)2. ITU-T V.23 FSK3. Bellcore FSK4. DTMF ('D', Number, 'C', Ring)

Only SE can program CLI Type for the FXS Port. SE should program CLI type, depending on the type of telephone instrument connected to the FXS Port of GFXD1111S.

CLI type 'None' is selected when the telephone instrument connected to the FXS port does not have the LCD to display the number or user does not want to detect the CLI.

Replacing + by DTMF digits in CLI:

GSM/CDMA network presents calling party number with prefix as '+' to the called party. However, GFXD1111S eliminates '+' and represent the remaining CLI on the FXS. Now many telephone instruments supports memory dialing and allows user to call back the number stored in its memory. In this scenario, when user dials the number, since GFXD1111S has eliminated '+' from the CLI, the call is not processed by the network.

This problem can be solved if '+' is replaced by DTMF digits, generally international dialing prefix, before presenting it on the CLI of the called party. So that when the same is used for memory dialing it is processed by the network. GFXD1111S enables SE to program digits that replaces '+' in the calling party's number before presenting it on the CLI of the called party.

End of Dialing:

End of Dialing is a mechanism by which GFXD1111S detects end of dialing of a number string and then processes a call further for out-dialing. This feature enables faster out dialing of a number. GFXD1111S detects end of dialing by dialing a digit i.e. #.

• If # is programmed as end of dialing digit, then system will consider the dialing of # as end of dialing. • If # is not programmed as end of dialing digit then the system detects end of dialing on its FXS port when

the inter digit wait timer expires. • If '#' is not programmed as End of Dialing Digit then it can be dialed in the number string for calling GSM/

CDMA number, along with other digits.

Answer Signaling on FXS Port is a signal which is generated on FXS Port when the remote party has answered and the call is matured. When GFXD1111S is connected with PCO machines in Cyber Cafe's or with FXO Port of PBX then it is required to generate maturity information on FXS Port of GFXD1111S so that the device connected to FXS port viz. PCO machine or PBX can take appropriate decision e.g., start billing etc.

In absence of maturity information on FXS Port, call will not be considered as matured and no billing will be generated on PCO machine. To avoid such problems GFXD1111S supports 'Answer Signaling' feature. This helps in accurate billing, avoids billing of unanswered and unsuccessful call attempts.

For Answer Signaling on FXS port, one of the following options is to be selected.• None: This option is used when no answer signaling is to be generated on the FXS port.• Polarity Reversal: This option is used when answer signaling is to be generated in the form of Polarity

Reversal on the FXS port. In Polarity Reversal, battery polarity of FXS port is reversed. For example, suppose the battery polarity of the FXS port is negative for TIP and positive for RING in normal condition. After call maturity, TIP will become positive and RING will become negative.

Disconnect Signaling on FXS port:

Disconnect Signaling on FXS Port is a signal which will be generated on FXS Port, which indicates that the other party of the call has disconnected. When GFXD1111S is connected with PCO machines or with FXO Port of PBX then the PCO machine or PBX is to be informed that the called party has disconnected.

In absence of 'Disconnect Signaling' the call is considered as complete when the caller goes on-hook. But this may result in inaccurate billing in case of PCO machine or in case of PBX even though the call is disconnected it is considered as mature by the PBX. To avoid such problems GFXD1111S supports 'Disconnect Signaling' feature. This will result in accurate billing in PCO machines.

For Disconnect Signaling on FXS port, one of the following options can be selected.• None: This option is used when no disconnect signaling is to be generated on the FXS port.• Polarity Reversal: This option is used when disconnect signaling is to be generated in the form of Polarity

Reversal on the FXS port. In Polarity Reversal, battery polarity of FXS port is reversed. For example, suppose the battery polarity of the FXS port is negative for TIP and positive for RING in speech condition.

However, incoming calls will be allowed even if Mobile Port is disabled.

Enable/Disable CLIR on the Mobile Port:

SIMADO GFXD1111S supports the facility of the GSM/CDMA network by which the user can keep his identity secret from the remote party when he makes a call. This is known as Calling Line Identification Restriction. This feature enables user to make anonymous calls. CLIR is useful only while making outgoing calls from Mobile Port.

To use this feature, you must get CLIR facility enabled from your service provider. When CLIR is enabled, identity of the caller is not revealed to the called party.

DTMF Dialing Method:

DTMF Dialing Method is required during Multi-Stage Dialing. GSM/CDMA module supports DTMF dialing either using 'Module Resources' or 'System Resources'. SE is recommended to select the suitable method.

• Using Module Resources: In this method, the DTMF digits are dialed using AT commands. But this method depends on the network i.e. for how much time the DTMF tone should be generated depends upon the service provider. However, in some cases where DTMF On time is required for more detection at the remote end, it cannot be set by the module.

• Using System Resources: In this method, the DTMF digits are dialed by specific hardware device of the system and is controlled by the software of the system. However, this method is also not so reliable because it depends upon the network conditions and during call through mobile network, generally there is break in the speech and it may not be detected properly at the remote end.

Port Released Timer

When a call is made from Mobile to FXO and if the remote party disconnects the call, PSTN provides the disconnect information to the FXO Port. However, if disconnect information is not detected by GFXD1111S or PSTN does not support such disconnect information, FXO Port remains Off-Hook inspite of actual call being disconnected.

Sometimes in case of GSM/CDMA network, disconnect information sent by the network is not sensed by the Mobile Port of GFXD1111S. Situation is more critical during Mobile to FXS call when FXS Port of GFXD1111S is connected to the FXO Port of the PBX. In this case if disconnect information provided by GSM/CDMA network is not sensed by GFXD1111S then the call will remain live between the Mobile and FXS Port. To resolve this problem, GFXD1111S supports 'Port Release Timer'. Port is released after the time programmed as Port Release Timer, if the ports are not released after the actual call disconnection.

This timer is applicable for all port types. Port Release Timer is started when the call gets matured. On the expiry of Port Release Timer, ports involved in the call are released. If FXO and Mobile Ports are involved in a call then on expiry of port release timer, both FXO and Mobile Port will be released. If FXS Port is involved in the call with other port then on expiry of port release timer, other ports (FXO/Mobile) will be released and user will get error tone on the FXS Port.

How to Program?

Use following command to program Port Release Timer:256-Port Release Timer-#*Where,Port Release Timer is in minutes from 000 to 255 minutes. '000' is programmed to disable the Port Release Timer.By default, it is 255 minutes.

Programming the System through COM Port

SIMADO GFXD1111S allows the user to program the system through communication port.

To Program the system through Communication Port:• Program the SIMADO GFXD1111S in 'Report Generation' mode using command 231-3-#*.• Prepare a text file (*.txt) containing programming commands in note pad.• Upload to the SIMADO GFXD1111S file using HyperTerminal as explained below:

1. Click on Start Programs Accessories Communication HyperTerminal.

2. A 'New Connection' window will open. Enter suitable name for the HyperTerminal connection (like SIMADO GFXD1111S) in 'Name' field.


3. Choose an icon from the icon list provided and click on OK button.

4. In the 'Connect To' Window, select relevant COM Port in the 'Connect Using' field. The rest of the options are disabled automatically. Click on OK button.

5. In the 'COM1 Properties' Window, make the following entries: Bits per seconds = 9600, Data bits = 8, Parity = None, Stop bits = 1 and Flow control = None. Click on OK button.


6. Click on 'Transfer' tab and in the dropdown menu click on Send File option.

7. In response window named 'Send File' opens. Choose the file to be transferred. Ensure that the protocol selected is 'Zmodem'.


8. After the selection of file don't click on 'Send' button. Instead give command 510-#* by phone to invoke Zmodem in the SIMADO GFXD1111S. The system responds with the strings as shown in the figure below.

9. Click 'Send' button before the last i.e. the 20th string is displayed. Else, you will have to issue command 510-#* again.

Programming the System through FXS Port

SIMADO GFXD1111S is a flexible system and can be programmed to suit your requirements. SIMADO GFXD1111S can be programmed by entering into the programming mode. In SIMADO GFXD1111S, programming can be done at two levels viz. System Engineer Level and System Administrator level. Both these levels are discussed below:

System Engineer Level (SE)

At this level, System engineer does the programming. System engineer has full access to the system and he can program and use all the features of the system. System Engineer level is protected by the password called SE password to prevent unauthorized persons from making unauthorized alterations and misuse of features and facilities.

For programming in SE mode:• Lift the handset of the telephone instrument connected to the system.• Dial #*-19-SE Password (Default SE Password = 1234) to enter programming mode.• Enter the programming command.• Dial 00-#* to exit the programming mode.

You can reset the SE password to the default value by changing the jumper position (J5). For more details, please refer “System Security (Passwords)” feature.

System Administrator Level (SA)

At this level, system administrator does the programming. System Administrator does not have full access to the system. SA can program and access only those features that are required for the administrative purpose. Following are the features that can be programmed from SA mode:

• Change SA Password• Display Software Version-Revision• Display Call Duration• Clear Call Duration• Call Divert

System Administrator level is protected by the password called SA password to prevent unauthorized persons from making unauthorized alterations and misuse of features and facilities.

For programming in SA mode:• Lift the handset of the telephone instrument connected to the system.• Dial #*-18-SA Password (Default SA Password = 1111) to enter programming mode.• Enter the programming command.• Dial 00-#* to exit the programming mode.

SE can reset SA password from the SE mode. For more details, please refer “System Security (Passwords)” feature.• If SIMADO GFXD1111S is set to Mobile-FXO mode and both Mobile Port and FXO port are busy, then

no dial tone is available at the FXS port for programming the system.• System will play error tone and will get out of the programming mode, if an incoming call arrives on the

FXS port of the system while it is in the programming mode. • Only one person is allowed to enter the programming mode at a time.• SIMADO GFXD1111S supports three types of tones in the programming mode: Programming tone,

confirmation tone and error tone.


• Programming tone is played when the system enters programming mode and is ready to accept the programming commands. It plays confirmation tone when a valid command is entered and will play error tone if an invalid command is entered or an inappropriate action is performed.

Programming the System through Mobile Port

SIMADO GFXD1111S allows programming the system from any remote location using data services of the GSM/CDMA network. The remote user can program the system using the same commands that are issued from a normal station to program the system.

To Program system through Mobile Port:• Prepare a text file (*.txt) containing programming commands in notepad.• Get data services enabled for the SIM Card used in the SIMADO GFXD1111S to be programmed from the

Service Provider.• Ensure that the SIMADO GFXD1111S to be programmed is in 'Speech + SMS mode' (Mode 1).• Setup the modem (in the computer from where programming is to be done).

Setup the Modem

1. Click on Start Control Panel.



7. Click on 'Finish' button. Modem will be installed as shown below:


Create a connection type1. Click on Start Programs Accessories Communications HyperTerminal.

2. New Connection window will appear. Enter name for the connection in 'Name' field as shown below and then click OK.


3. In the "Connect To" window, enter the destination number (Data Service Number of the SIM card used in the SIMADO GFXD1111S to be programmed) and select the modem that is installed for connection. Click OK.

4. Click File Properties. GFXD1111 Properties window will open. Select modem in 'Connect Using' field.5. Uncheck the option labeled 'Use Country Code and Area Code' and click 'OK' button.

Make Data Call1. Click Call Call.2. Click Dial. The destination number is dialed out.


3. When the connection is established, the login window shown below appears. The status bar of the window displays 'Connected'.

Establishing the Connection

1. Enter valid Login code and Press Enter. The computer asks for password. Enter valid password.


2. In case invalid Login Code or invalid Login Password is entered, the computer prompts for login code again.

3. The computer responds with success. The user should transfer the file (within 10 sec.) immediately on receipt of the string 'Success' else he will have to establish call again.

Transferring the File (Containing programming commands)

1. Click Transfer Send File.


2. In the response window choose the file to be transferred. Ensure that the protocol selected is 'ZModem'. Click on Send.

3. The progress of data transfer is displayed as follows.

Once the data transfer is over the connection can be disconnected and re-established if and when required.

How to program?

Login Code and Login Password are used to invoke the Z-Modem in the SIMADO GFXD1111S while programming the system through Mobile Port. The Login Code and the Login Password protect the system from unauthorized alterations.

Use following command to change login name to be used for programming through ZModem:121-New Login Name-#*Where,New Login Name is of 4 digits. Digit 0 to 9, # and * are allowed. '#*' should not be used as part of the name.

Please note that the system cannot be programmed through Mobile Port with default Login Code and Login Password. Default Login Name is 1234 and Default Login Password is 1234.

Programming the System using SMS

GFXD1111S supports SMS based configuration i.e. it is possible to configure the system by sending SMS to the system. This method is useful when it is required to configure the system remotely.

How to use?

To configure the system using SMS, SE should enable 'SMS Based Configuration' option and then follow the steps given below:

1. Type a text message in your cell phone. Include all the desired configuration commands in the message in required format.

2. SMS meant for configuring the system should always start with #*19-SE Password i.e. the command for entering the programming mode and should end with 00#* i.e. the command to exit the programming mode.

3. The commands for configuring the system should be typed between the command for entering and exiting the programming mode.

4. Maximum message length of SMS meant for configuring the system is 160 characters.5. After typing the message send it to the SIM number that is installed in GFXD1111S.6. When GFXD1111S receives this SMS, it will execute the commands in the SMS and thus configure the

system.

For Example: Suppose SE wants to configure following parameters in GFXD1111S using SMS:1. Program number in Allowed number list by issuing command:

261-Location Index-Number-#* i.e. 261-01-2630555-#*

2. Program number in Denied number list by issuing command:262-Location Index-Number-#* i.e. 262-01-2630630-#*

As soon as GFXD1111S receives this SMS, it will execute the commands in the SMS.

How it works?

• When SMS based configuration is enable, GFXD1111S will read all incoming messages and if it is found to be meant for configuration, it will configure the system as described in the SMS.

• Configuring the system using SMS is done only when all the ports of the system are idle.• When GFXD1111S receives SMS for configuring the system, it will not notify the user even if SMS

notification is enabled.• The SMS meant for configuring the system will be deleted when all the configuration commands included

in the SMS are executed.• If during SMS configuration, system is required to be defaulted or restarted than the remaining SMS which

are not executed will be executed once the system is restarted or defaulted.


Following are the commands after which the system restarts.

• Thus in this way the system is configured remotely using SMS service.

Reinstate the Default Settings

GFXD1111S is supplied with a pre-defined set of variables like Mobile Port Parameters, FXS Port Parameters, SIM PIN, Call Divert, Call Progress Tones etc. These pre-set settings are called default settings. You will find the default value(s) of each programmable parameter under the respective topic. If the default setting suits your requirement then you may not even need to program the system, as the system is designed to work efficiently with the default settings. However, you may program the parameters to match your requirements.

Sometimes, due to some programming error or due to some operating mistake, GFXD1111S goes haywire and it become difficult to analyze the problem. In such a situation, it is advisable to load default values in the system.

On defaulting GFXD1111S, following parameters will not change i.e. will not be defaulted:• Call Divert• Call Progress Tones• Ring Type

Restoring Default Settings

Default settings can be loaded or restored from the System Engineer mode.

Use following command to load the default configuration: 106-Reverse SE Password-#*Reverse SE password is a number string of maximum 4 digits.By default, SE Password is 1234. Therefore, Reverse of SE Password is 4321.

• GFXD1111S will restart as soon as command to load the default configuration is issued.• Ensure that SIMADO GFXD1111S is set to Speech + SMS mode, when command to restore the default

configuration is issued else the system will not be defaulted.

Restart the System

Sometimes it becomes necessary for the SE/User to restart SIMADO GFXD1111S. Many a times it is difficult to walk down to the system and restart it. GFXD1111S gives facility to the SE/User to issue a command in SE mode to restart the system from its extension without physically walking down to the system. This command does not alter any programming parameters and gives the same effect as switching OFF the system and switching it ON again.

Use the following command to restart GFXD1111S:105-SE Password-#*Where, SE Password is a number string of four digits. Digits 0 to 9 are accepted.Default SE Password is 1234.

Ring Type

SIMADO GFXD1111S gives flexibility to the SE to match the frequency and cadences of the rings supported by the system to that of the country standard. GFXD1111S has inbuilt ring cadences of various countries that enables the SE to match the ring type of the system to that supported by the exchange of the country in which it is installed.

SE shall program the country in which GFXD1111S is installed and system will select the frequency and cadence as per the country programmed from the table given below.

SMS (Short Message Service)

SIMADO GFXD1111S supports Short Messaging Services (SMS) feature. You can send and receive SMS using GFXD1111S. SMS received on SIMADO GFXD1111S can be read on a computer as well as on the LCD of the telephone instrument. The receipt of new message is indicated in the form of a signal on both the computer and the telephone instrument.

The messages received are stored at various locations in the memory of the SIM/RUIM card. The locations where the messages are stored are referred to as indexes. You can read the received messages if your telephone instrument supports FSK CLI. After reading the messages, you can also delete the same.

The SMS to be sent can be entered or edited only on the Hyper Terminal i.e. using a computer. Entering or editing messages using telephone instrument is not possible.

How to use?

Using Telephone Instrument:Reading the message:

Where,Index is from 001 to xxx, where xxx is the maximum SMS capacity of the SIM card. For e.g. if the SIM card can store maximum 999 messages then range of index will be 001 to 999.

Deleting the message:

• Read messages are deleted one by one index- wise from both telephone instrument and the computer.• Messages can be read only on a FSK type of telephone instrument.

Lift the handset of telephone instrument connected to GFXD1111S

Dial Tone

Dial #*-21-Index Confirmation Tone

Replace the handset. You will get ring followed by first 16 characters of the message received.

Again you will get ring followed by next 16 characters of the message received. This will continue till the whole message is completed.

If you go off-hook during SMS retrieving process.

SMS retrieval is aborted and you will get dial tone.

Reading the received messages:To read the received messages on computer, SIMADO GFXD1111S should be configured in SMS+Internet+FAX+Data mode.

• Open Hyper Terminal window and enter command 'AT' and press Enter. (AT command will not be seen by the user)

• You will receive 'OK' message on the screen. Now enter command 'AT+CMGR=Index' and press Enter. Index is the index number at which the SMS is stored.

• In response to the above command, message will be displayed on the screen as shown below.

Entering (editing) the messages to be sent:To enter/edit messages to be sent using a computer, SIMADO GFXD1111S should be configured in SMS+Internet+FAX+Data mode.

• Open Hyper Terminal window and enter command 'AT' and press Enter. (AT command will not be seen by the user)


• After you get 'OK' response on the screen, enter command 'AT+CMGS="Phone number"' where, the phone number is the number on which you want to send the SMS.

• Enter the message you want to send and press 'Ctrl+Z' when the message is completed.• You will get 'OK' response on the hyper terminal window on successful transmission of the message.

Deleting messages from the computer:• Open Hyper Terminal window and enter command 'AT+CMGD=Index' and press Enter. Index is the index

number of the message to be deleted. • You will get 'OK' response on the hyper terminal window, when the message is deleted successfully.

How to Send/Receive SMS through Computer?

To send and receive SMS, SE shall follow the steps given below:• Open Hyper Terminal window and enter name for the connection. In 'Connect To' window select COM1

and click on 'OK' button.• COM1 Properties window will appear on the screen. Select following values: Bits Per Second= 9600, Data

Bits = 8, Stop Bit = 1 and Flow Control = None.


• In Hyper Terminal window, enter command 'AT+CMGF=1 to set text message format and press Enter. Also enter 'AT+CSCA?' command to check whether the SMS service center number is set to SIM card and press Enter.

• To display incoming message on the hyper terminal window immediately, enter command 'AT+CNMI=2,2,0,0,0 and press Enter.

Signal Strength

When caller tries to make a call on the GSM network, sometimes the call cannot be placed due to absence of signal or weak signal. Signal Strength feature enables SE to display the strength of network signals on the LCD of telephone instrument connected to the FXS port of GFXD1111S. Signal strength is measured in dBm and it ranges from -113dBm to -51dBm.

How to use?

Follow the steps given below to display the Signal Strength:

SIM Balance and Recharge

SIMADO GFXD1111S facilitates the user to check balance of the pre-paid SIM and recharge the same, if required. This feature depends on the network as well as the services of the Service Provider. It will work only when either of the following modules are installed in the system:

How it works?

A query is made by the user to know the SIM Balance or to Recharge. For this query to run the user needs to program the following parameters:

Balance Inquiry Number: For checking the balance of your SIM Card, this is as provided by your network operator. E.g. Vodafone has Balance Inquiry Number as *141#.

Recharge Servicing Number: To add balance to your pre-paid SIM Card, this is as provided by your network operator.Eg. Vodafone has Recharging Service Number as *140*.

Recharge PIN Number: This is the number printed on the Recharge Voucher

Mobile Number: These are three numbers on which SMS can be received and user can view the status for SIM Balance / Recharge.

If no number is entered by the user SMS will not be sent.

SIM PIN

SIM (Subscriber Identification Module) is a smart card containing all subscriber specific data stored in it. A default Personal Identification Number (PIN) is also stored in the SIM. SIM PIN is a security feature used by the GSM network. SE is recommended to enable SIM protection to protect the SIM card.

How SIM PIN protection works?

• At every Power On, the module will send SIM PIN request to the system. (If SIM protection in the SIM Card is enabled)

• The system will send the SIM PIN stored in the configuration to the module. The GSM module gets registered with the GSM network, if correct SIM PIN is issued.

• SIM PIN sent by the system should match the one that is stored in the SIM Card.• If wrong SIM PIN is issued for three times then the system will ask for the Personal Unlock Keyword. PUK

number is a unique number assigned to every SIM card by the service provider. • If the SIM Card is locked then SE must contact the service provider and get PUK number from him to

unlock the card. If wrong PUK number is entered for ten times then the SIM card will become useless.• GSM module gets initialized only if SIM PIN of the SIM Card and that of the system matches. Hence it is

necessary that the SIM PIN of SIM Card and the one that is stored in the system is same.

To enable SIM protection or to match SIM PIN of SIM Card and the system, follow the steps given below when the system attains normal working position:

• Switch Off GFXD1111S.• Remove SIM card and insert the same in the mobile instrument.• Enable 'SIM PIN at Power ON' parameter in the SIM card. (This step is not required if SIM protection is

already ON)• Change the SIM PIN of the SIM Card to 1234. (Default SIM PIN programmed in the system is 1234)• The SIM PIN of the card and that of the system should be same else the SIM PIN will not be accepted by

the GSM module at power on. • Insert SIM card in GFXD1111S and switch on the system. SE is recommended to change the default SIM

PIN after GFXD1111S attains normal working position by issuing command shown in 'How to Program?' topic below.

• When SIM PIN change command is issued after following the above steps, SIM PIN of both SIM Card and that of the system is changed simultaneously.

• SIM PIN feature is also supported when Wavecom-CDMA (Q2438K) module is installed in SIMADO GFXD1111S.

• SIM PIN is not defaulted or changed if the system is defaulted or software version revision is changed.

How to Program?

Software Version and Revision Display

Due to continuous feedbacks from the customer and for better performances of the products, upgradation of software becomes inevitable. Before upgrading the current software, SE/SA must know the current software version installed in GFXD1111S. This feature enables SE/SA to know the version revision of the software installed in the system without opening the system.

How to use?

You must enter either SE or SA mode to use this feature. Follow the steps given below to display the version/revision of the software:

How to Program?

Configuration Type:

SIMADO GFXD1111S supports two configurations viz. Mobile-FXS mode and Mobile-FXO mode. SE can program the system in one of the above mentioned two configurations.

Use following command to set the Configuration Type for SIMADO GFXD1111S:100-Configuration Type-#*Where,

By default, Configuration Type is Mobile-FXS mode.

First Digit Wait Timer:

First Digit Wait Timer signifies the time for which the system would wait for the user to dial the first digit after Mobile, FXS or FXO Port goes OFF-Hook. On expiry of this timer, the system will give error tone to the user.

Use following command to program the First Digit Wait Timer:240-Duration-#*Where,Duration is from 001 to 255 seconds.By default, First Digit Wait Timer is 7 seconds.

Inter Digit Wait Timer:

Inter Digit Wait Timer is loaded as soon as first digit is dialed on the Mobile, FXS or FXO Port after going Off-hook. Inter Digit Wait Timer signifies the time period between dialing of two consecutive digits. All the digits should be dialed at a stretch within Inter Digit Wait Timer period. If the user does not dial the next digit before the expiry of inter digit wait timer then GFXD1111S will consider it as end of dialing and will process the dialed digits.

DTMF Out Dial ON Time:

Sometimes the DTMF digits sent over GSM network to the PSTN gateway or vice-versa is not detected by the remote gateway. Hence, the duration of DTMF should be increased for the proper detection. DTMF On time signifies the time for which the DTMF digit will remain ON while sending digits over GSM network.

Use following command for programming 'DTMF Out dial ON Time' for Mobile/FXO port:241-Code-#*Where,

Range of DTMF ON Time is from 50ms to 200ms in the multiple of 10ms. By default, it is 100ms i.e. Code=06.

For mobile port, if DTMF dialing method is programmed as "Using Module Resources", for programming of 50-100 ms, the system will use the value as 100 ms and for programming of 110-200 ms, the system will use the value as 200 ms.

Inter Digit Pause Time:

Inter Digit Pause Time signifies the time gap between dialing of two digits when DTMF digits are outdialed by the system on the FXO/Mobile Port.

DTMF out dial level determines the magnitude with which the DTMF digits would be dialed out by the system.

Range of DTMF out dial level is from 0 to -10.5 dB. By default, it is 0dB i.e. Code=1.

Call Proceeding Tone:

Call Proceeding Tones are the signaling tones generated by the system or network to inform the user of the call establishment in the network. When the user dials a number from the telephone instrument connected to GFXD1111S, it gets routed either through FXO Port or Mobile Port as per the programming done.

Sometimes while processing a call either through Mobile or PSTN network, silence is generated by the network. Due to this silence, user might think that the call is disconnected and might hang up. To avoid this silence received from the network while processing a call, Call Proceeding Tone feature is used.

SIMADO GFXD1111S support following two Call Proceeding Tones: Network tone and Silence.• Network Tone: Network Tone is the tone generated by the network when a number is dialed out by the

system. The speech path is connected after OK response is received from the network. • Silence: Silence means no tone is played to the user till all the numbers are dialed out by the system.

By default, Call proceeding Tone is 1 i.e. the Network Tone.

Modified Routing:

SIMADO GFXD1111S supports one Mobile, one FXO and one FXS port. In case of incoming calls, when a call arrives on the mobile port, the system places it on the FXS Port. Similarly, a call arrived on FXO Port is also landed on FXS Port. In case of outgoing calls also, if LCR-number based is programmed in GFXD1111S, the calls are routed either through FXO port or Mobile port depending on the number dialed by the user.

Thus there are four possibilities:1. Incoming call on Mobile Port2. Outgoing call routed from Mobile Port3. Incoming call on FXO Port4. Outgoing call routed from FXO Port

But SIMADO GFXD1111S has a limitation that it can handle only one call on FXS Port at a time. Thus, when FXS Port is busy with Mobile Port, it cannot entertain call received on FXO Port. Similarly, when FXS Port is busy with FXO Port, it cannot entertain call received on Mobile Port. In this scenario, the caller whose call is ignored by the system would think that the user is not present and this may result in loss of important calls. To avoid this situation, SE should enable 'Modified Routing' in the system.

SE should enable 'Modified Routing' to solve the above problem. Now whenever a call is received on Mobile Port and FXS Port is busy with FXO Port then the system will reject the incoming calls till the FXS Port becomes idle. Similarly, whenever a call is received on FXO Port and FXS Port is busy with Mobile Port then the system will make FXO Port busy. This parameter is applicable in Mobile-FXS Mode only.

Use following command to enable/disable Modified Routing in GFXD1111S:111-Code-#*Where,

By default, it is disabled.

• When modified routing is enabled, it is possible that incoming call present on the FXO port is answered by the system and caller gets silence. This will happen due to glare condition i.e. when incoming call is placed on FXO port but as the ring event is not detected by the system; the system would try to make FXO port busy because FXS port is busy with the Mobile Port.

• When modified routing is enabled, it is possible that incoming call present on the FXO port is answered by the system and the caller gets connected to FXS port and caller will hear DTMF digits dialed by the system. This happens due to glare condition i.e. when incoming call is placed on FXO port but as the ring event is not detected by the system; the system tries to grab the FXO port for dialing out the number dialed by the FXS port user.

System Security (Passwords)

SIMADO GFXD1111S is a flexible system and programming in it is secured at two levels: System Engineer Level (SE) and System Administrator Level (SA). SE level is protected by SE password and SA level is protected by SA password.

System Engineer Level (SE)System Engineer level is protected by the password called SE password. This password should not be kept confidential by SE to prevent unauthorized persons from making unauthorized alterations and misuse of features and facilities of GFXD1111S. SE cannot know SA password but he can change it if it is lost or misplaced by system administrator.

Use following command to change SE password:107-New SE Password-#*Where, New SE Password can be of maximum four digits. Allowed digits are from 0 to 9.Default SE Password is 1234.

To Default SE Password:SE should remember SE password to enter the programming mode and change the settings of GFXD1111S. However, if SE password is lost or misplaced, it can be set to its default value by hardware default. Follow the steps given below to default SE password:

• Switch Off GFXD1111S• Open the cover and locate jumper J5. It is in its original position BC.• Put the jumper in AB position and switch On the system.• Keep jumper in that position for 5 seconds and then switch Off the system.• Restore jumper in its original position (BC) and then switch On the system again.• SE password is set to its default value.

ANS: Yes. You can connect SIMADO GFXD1111S with your existing EPABX. When connected with FXO port ofEPABX, it enables you to make calls from the extensions of EPABX, directly to GSM network which bypassthe PSTN exchange and results in significant saving in call costs. Q.9. I have FXO/FXS-VoIP gateway. Can SIMADO GFXD1111S be intergraded with existing gateway and alsoreduces the call cost?

Warranty Statement

Matrix Comsec Pvt. Ltd. (Matrix) warrants to its consumer purchaser any of its products to be free of defects in material, workmanship and performance for a period of 15 months from date of manufacturing or 12 months from the date of installation which ever is earlier.

During this warranty period, Matrix will at its option, repair or replace the product at no additional charge if the product is found to have manufacturing defect. Any replacement product or part/s may be furnished on an exchange basis, which shall be new or like-new, provided that it has functionality at least equal to that of the product, being replaced. All replacement parts and products will be the property of Matrix. Parts repaired or replaced will be under warranty throughout the remainder of the original warranty period only.

This limited warranty does not apply to:1. Products that have been subjected to abuse, accident, natural disaster, misuse, modification, tampering, faulty

installation, lack of reasonable care, repair or service in any way that is not contemplated in the documentation for the product or if the model or serial number has been altered, tampered with, defaced or removed.

2. Products which have been damaged by lightning storms, water or power surges or which have been neglected, altered, used for a purpose other than the one for which they were manufactured, repaired by customer or any party without Matrix’s written authorization or used in any manner inconsistent with Matrix’s instructions.

3. Products received improperly packed or physically damaged. 4. Products damaged due to operation of product outside the products’ specifications or use without designated

protections.

Warranty valid only if:• Primary protection on all the ports provided.• Mains supply is within limit and protected.• Environment conditions are maintained as per the product specifications.

Warranty Card:• When the product is installed, please return the warranty card with:

• Date, signature and stamp of the customer• Date, signature and stamp of the channel partner

• Matrix assumes that the customer agrees with the warranty terms even when the warranty card is not signed and returned as suggested.

The Purchaser shall have to bear shipping charges for sending product to Matrix for testing/rectification. The product shall be shipped to the Purchaser at no-charge if the material is found to be under warranty. The Purchaser shall have to either insure the product or assume liability for loss or damage during transit.

Matrix reserves the right to waive off or make any changes in its warranty policy without giving any notice.

If Matrix is unable to repair or replace, as applicable, a defective product which is covered by Matrix warranty, Matrix shall, within a reasonable time after being notified of the defect, refund the purchase price of the product provided the consumer/purchaser returns the product to Matrix.

In no event will Matrix be liable for any damages including lost profits, lost business, lost savings, downtime or delay, labor, repair or material cost, injury to person, property or other incidental or consequential damages arising out of use of or inability to use such product, even if Matrix has been advised of the possibility of such damages or losses or for any claim by any other party.

Except for the obligations specifically set forth in this Warranty Policy Statement, in no event shall Matrix be liable for any direct, indirect, special, incidental or consequential damages whether based on contract or any other legal theory and where advised of the possibility of such damages.

Neither Matrix nor any of its distributors, dealers or sub-dealers makes any other warranty of any kind, whether expressed or implied, with respect to Matrix products. Matrix and its distributors, dealers or sub-dealers specifically disclaim the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.


This warranty is not transferable and applies only to the original consumer purchaser of the Product. Warranty shall be void if the warranty card is not completed and registered with Matrix within 30 days of installation.

All legal course of action subjected to Vadodara (Gujarat, India) Jurisdiction only.
