Following the huge success of last year's fantastic CarFest charity auctions, which raised more than £90,000 for BBC Children in Need, Silverstone Auctions are delighted to once again be hosting a sale at this year's CarFest North event which takes place over the weekend of the 2nd to 4th August at Oulton Park in Cheshire. All the cars to be offered will have something unique about them. The brief behind the Beetle was to produce a cheap, economical reliable car for the working class.

What was it that made the Beetle such a success? It’s impossible to pinpoint one thing, but rather it was a combination of things such as: its legendary reliability, its unique shape, and an air-cooled engine with a one off sound, whatever it was it went on to earn itself the status of a MoToring icon the world over.

Resplendent in its original white colour scheme, this superb example is the recipient of a full body off restoration with all work being completed to a very high standard, we are informed by the vendor that there is photographic documentation of this restoration and will be included in the sale of this car. The quality has remained and still today the car presents incredibly well, appearing as a freshly restored car.

Incredibly we are told this particular Beetle also comes with its original service book from new which is fully stamped up with VW stamps from front to back, testament to just how much care has been lavished on this car over the years. Mechanically we are told the flat four engine is superb order and drives perfectly in all gears, likewise all braking suspension and steering components are in equally good order and all make for a most enjoyable driving experience in this superb little Beetle

The Triumph TR6 was the best-selling Triumph in history when production ended in 1976, but was later surpassed by the TR7. More than 94,000 TR6s were built, ninety per cent of them to US specification. The TR6 was a refined sports car. It featured pile carpets on floors and boot (trunk), plush-looking bucket seats, a lovely wooden dashboard and a full complement of instrumentation. In the US, it featured the six-cylinder engine that was carried over from the TR250, while the UK version had a more powerful fuel-injected engine from the TR5 that included the Lucas mechanical fuel injection system. It traces its lineage back to the four-cylinder Triumphs: TR4, TR4A, TR3/TR3A and TR2. This stylish six-cylinder sports car is regarded by some as the last true Triumph.

Presented in Signal Red with contrasting black leather with black hood and teanneau cover piped in red, this is an original UK Fuel injection ( Pi ) 150 Bhp CP chassis series example in extremely good order with the benefit of an extensive history portfolio, which includes invoices, previous MoT tests and hand books etc. She has come from

a TR Register member’s home and has quite clearly been a very cherished vehicle. The owner has driven her over 150 miles recently and during that time she performed very well and the instruments indicated a continuous correct cooling charge and good oil pressure, she brakes sharply and the gear change is crisp.

The Mk II Jag’ sold well and gained a reputation for bringing people of all classes inside Jaguar dealerships, since the car was popular with ‘old money’, city bankers and bank robbers alike (especially since it was big enough for 5 adults). This is reflected in the car’s starring role in both The Sweeney and Inspector Morse, both programme’s reflecting different sides of the Jaguar’s personality. The car was also extremely successful on the track, making a huge impact on the European Touring Car Championship series. Prices for the Mk II Jag are on the rise, once purchased maintenance isn’t difficult either with parts and accessories readily available to buy from a plethora of specialist dealers and owners clubs.

Gleaming in Navy Blue this particular MKII Jaguar 3.4 certainly looks the part, dressed in chrome sitting on those classic Jaguar steel wheels and fitted with a purposeful

MoTa-lite steering wheel this car just shouts iconic 60s Jaguar. We are informed by the vendor that this particular car has been very well maintained over the years and was subject to an older restoration.

Lot 107

The Jaguar E-Type is a total British automobile legend, manufactured by Jaguar between 1961 and 1975. Its success was due to its stunning looks, high performance and competitive pricing - the equivalent Ferrari of the day costing three times more and delivering less horsepower!

Enzo Ferrari described it as “ The most beautiful car ever made” and Jaguar went on to produce over 70,000 of them as the model evolved through the ‘60’s and ‘70’s.

This car was built by the world renowned Jaguar restorers, Vicarage Classic Car Company, from Bridgnorth in Shropshire in the early 1990’s. Vicarage were famous for updating and re-engineering cars to modern standards, offering superior build quality, improved driving responses and greater security than the original. Ordered by a Mr Pollock of Aspen Oil Ltd. who then told Vicarage that

he wanted a unique specification car. His desire was to combine the convenience of rear seats offered by the 2 plus 2, with the stunning looks of the Roadster. At the same time he wanted modern upgrades to make the car more user-friendly and specifically he wanted the car finished in Rolls Royce Cobalt Blue with a beige leather interior.

So, at a cost of an eye-watering £91,568 in 1990, he ordered this car which was then converted from a left hand drive 2 plus 2 V12 into a right hand drive V12 Roadster, allowing for the extra seats in the back and then he added the following specification:

The car took Vicarage nine months to complete and since then just 32,000 miles have been covered. It has since been fastidiously maintained by both Martin Hall of Birds Automobiles and more recently, Nick Goldthorp, of CMC Ltd in Bridgnorth.

In fact, the most recent bill (£7,000) from CMC confirms that work to the steering, brakes and a full service were carried out in August 2012, along with a new set of rear discs and pads fitted in November 2012 by Guy Salmon Jaguar of Northampton.

This car is truly stunning to look at and drive today. Built by one of the best specialists in the world it is now ready to be enjoyed by the luckiest of new owners. This car is featured in the book “E TYPE JAGUAR” by Andrew Morland, where no less than 7 pages are dedicated to show the unique beauty of this car.(A copy of the book is included in the comprehensive history file)

Lot 108

Designed as project ADO15 (Austin Drawing Office project number 15), the Mini came about because of a fuel shortage caused by the 1956 Suez Crisis. Petrol was once again rationed in the UK, sales of large cars slumped, the market for German bubble cars boomed. Leonard Lord, the somewhat autocratic head of BMC, reportedly detested these cars so much that he vowed to rid the streets of them and design a ‘proper miniature car’. Issigonis, who had been working for Alvis, had been recruited back to BMC in 1955 and, with his skills in designing small cars, was a natural for the task. The team that designed the Mini was remarkably small: as well as Issigonis, there was Jack Daniels (who had worked with him on the Morris Minor), Chris Kingham (who had been with him at Alvis), two engineering students and four draughtsmen. Together, by October 1957, they had designed and built the original prototype, which was affectionately named “The Orange Box” because of its colour.

This 1964 Austin Mini Mk I has been built to Cooper 998cc specification. In 2003, the car was professionally restored by an employee at a leading classic car restoration specialist in Kent. He bored out the engine from 850cc to 998cc and made a number of significant upgrades. These included a fast-road cam, new exhaust system, disc brakes, dry suspension and an original British Leyland straight cut gearbox to name but a few. A large number of bills and receipts are available in the history file.

Silverstone Auctions had the pleasure of selling this car to Chris Evans in the past and he speaks very highly of the way it drives and the fun MoToring it provided at the time.

The current vendor reports that he has used ‘CBK 445B’ only on sunny days and it has been stored in a temperature controlled garage. This car is offered at a competitive price guide and also with a generous share to Pudsey!

First registered 08.03.1955 to Mr R Hall, it is understood that unlike many Landies which suffer from hard labour, this has led a relatively sedate life. Fully restored in the past, she remains in fabulous condition throughout. The chassis is excellent, the bulkhead is galvanised, the floors are to a painted finish internally and all new seating, including rear bench seating means the cabin is a comfortable place to be. The fitment of the full canvas roof from Exmoor trim is a period-correct item which fits as it should. With good weather and the hood rolled up, an early Landie makes for a lovely alternative convertible. That said, she does come equipped with a fully functioning and very effective Smiths dash Heater for chillier times...

This very early, 86” Landie retains the correct spread bore 1997cc engine, which has proven to be completely reliable and is used regularly. This proved particularly useful during the snow earlier in the year where the vendor

tested the four-wheel drive functionality to great effect. The recent fitment of a replacement full exhaust system from Dunsfold Land Rover further benefits the mechanical integrity of this vehicle.

Sold with current MoT to February 2014, and taxed to January 2014, tax is free (exempt) and being pre-1960, will no longer require an MoT certificate. The reason it has one now is to give peace of mind to any potential purchaser that the car is road worthy, and in good order. This Land Rover was also professionally undersealed post-MoT inspection.

Although used regularly, it is kept garaged when not in use. In our vendors care it has been very reliable, gears select properly and the engine rattles away at the front quite happily. All in all, whilst in no way modern, it is really pleasant to drive and makes a great, practical, classic car.

Lot 112

There are few MoTorcars that truly evoke the pure MoToring thrill of yesteryear, offering a rare combination of unrivalled build quality, driving pleasure and classy, understated, head-turning beauty. The Bentley marque is synonymous with all of this.

By 1987 the Mulsanne was looking stale so the company decided to spice it up with the introduction of the Mulsanne ‘S’. This car shared the traditional, smooth, 6.75 litre Rolls-Royce V8 with the aluminium alloy cylinder heads of its predecessor, the Bentley T2. The engine is naturally aspirated without the problematic turbocharger whilst also benefiting from the smooth and seamless 3-speed automatic transmission.

PJI 6757 was born into a world of luxury. It was chosen as the Rolls-Royce/Bentley showroom display car where the well-heeled would come and admire this exciting new model from the revered marque. She was sold to her first owner in 1987 with whom she covered 34,500 miles before having the engine replaced by Goulds of Glasgow. Shortly after this, in 1991 a conversion was made so the car would run on unleaded fuel, and then later again, in 1995, and at 80,000 miles, a replacement gearbox and new torque converter were fitted by Shadow Vehicle Services of Leeds meaning the car now behaves exactly as you would expect, and pulls strongly through the automatic gearbox.

Having now travelled just 120,000miles which is very little for the enormously capable 6750cc 8 cylinder engine, the car has acquired a pleasing patina without over-stepping the boundary into looking scruffy. The Silver paintwork is described as being in good order throughout, save for one or two small marks, the Oyster coloured interior is also in all-round good condition, albeit, the drivers’ carpet requires replacement.

This very capable Bentley is sold with UK V5C and current MoT to March 2014. Also present are two service books with 18 stamps, full book pack, full workshop manual, 14 past MoT’s, a full folder of bills and receipts for works undertaken, including the replacement gearbox, and a sales invoice from Hanwell cars in 2003. All in all, this is an enormous amount of luxury MoTorcar, and offered without reserve, you tell us what it’s worth to you.

The Virage was the first all-new Aston Martin for nearly 20 years. The factory had produced the limited edition Zagato and the V8 had been updated, but the Virage was the first new production car and the first to be produced under Ford’s ownership. One major item carried over from previous models was a 5340cc V8 engine, but it had been much reworked for the Virage, enabling it to meet ever more stringent emission regulations. The production Virage debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1991, a prototype having been displayed at Birmingham’s NEC the previous October.

Presented in Litchfield Black metallic with contrasting mushroom leather piped in black, this car has a history portfolio, electric heated seats, electric windows and mirrors, air conditioning, CD stereo, computer and alloy wheels.

The MGB replaced the outgoing MGA in May 1962. It then remained in production until the Abingdon factory finally closed in 1980. Compared with ‘A’ the ‘B’ was a more comfortable mode of transport all round with more legroom and generally more creature comforts like wind-up windows. Initially all the cars were roadsters and the suspension was slightly softer than the MGA, but it still handled well. Despite being an inch or two shorter than the ‘A’ the interior space was better designed giving the passengers a bit more space plus there was now room for a more sensible amount of luggage when touring. But it carried on the ‘wind in the hair’ tradition of the great British sports car and while by modern standards it is not particularly rapid, in its day its performance was regarded as ‘brisk’. The entire MGB range all used a version of the 1798 cc BMC Series B engine, which was a slightly enlarged version of the 1622cc Series A Engine.

The car we have here today has only recently finished a ground up restoration. There are many pictures available in the history file that detail the entire process from barn-find discovery to gleaming restored car. Reading a believed genuine 50,000 miles from new, this car was discovered by the last owner having been stood for many many years. The restoration was a painstaking process over a period of two years. There are bills and receipts for parts used and the car has seen little use since being restored.

There are still many MGB’s out there so there is strong supply chain for all sorts of parts, over 500,000 variants of the MGB left the factory, however you will have to travel a very long way to find an example as fine as this... there must be some summer left this year so here is a great opportunity to get a tan and feel that wind blowing through your hair!

Lot 115

The Mercedes-Benz W111 was a chassis code given to its top-range vehicles, including 4-door sedans, produced from 1959 to 1968, and 2-door Coupés and cabriolets built from 1961 to 1971. The W111, was initially attributed to 6-cylinder cars with 2.2-litre engines. Production of the 4-door sedan began in August 1959, and was premiered at the Frankfurt Auto Show in autumn. Initially the series consisted of three models the 220b, 220Sb, and the 220SEb. These replaced the popular ‘Pontoon’ sedans respectively. The 220b was the budget option lacking the extra chrome trims on the exterior, and having simple wheel hubcaps and interior trim.

Powering the three cars was an identical 2195 cc straight-six engine carried over from the previous generation. It produced 95 hp and was capable of accelerating the car to 160 km/h (155 if fitted with optional automatic gearbox). The engine of the 220Sb with twin carburetors, produced 110 hp and raised the top speed to 165 km/h (103 mph) along with improving the 0-100 km/h acceleration to 15 seconds. The top range 220SEb featured Bosch fuel injection produced 120hp with a top speed of 172 km/h (107 mph) and a 0-100 km/h in 14 seconds.

This top of the range 220 SEB was purchased by our vendor in 2008 and was then subject to a general refurbish. This included new lower door panels, a brake overhaul along with a full exterior respray.

The car has since been well loved and used regularly with the engine serviced annually. In 2009 the car was campaigned in the tour of Cheshire and also the Tour of Ilkey where it finished 2nd in class.

A great opportunity to purchase a piece of Mercedes-Benz history that is not only very useable but oozes style for mile after mile!

The 400GT was a larger engined version of the 365GT4 2+2 that it replaced. The 4823cc V12 engine provided the new 400GT with much improved performance over its older sister. Later, the 400i would be introduced which would reduce emissions considerably, albeit at a cost of 30hp. All Ferraris built in this period were costly, low-production machines, based on increasingly complex tubular chassis frames and clad in hand-crafted body shells. This model is perhaps best known for introducing automatic transmission to Ferrari customers for the first time.

This Ferrari 400i was first registered on 4th March 1979 and is finished in striking Blue coachwork with cream and blue leather seats and blue carpets. Having travelled fewer than 50,000 miles at time of cataloguing in the hands of only three owners, this is an often overlooked GT that delivers a real sense of occasion. Save for a small scuff to the front

bumper and some very minor paint defects, the car is otherwise in really good order.

It has been maintained well throughout its life, being serviced by HR Owen of Greenford nine times in its first four years for its manufacturer recommended checks. In 1988 it went to Jones Auto Garage in London for £1,500 worth of repairs caused by what appears to have been a minor front-end collision that resulted in a panel and headlight flap repair plus some localised paintwork.

From past MoT certificates we can see that by 1998/99 the mileage was still just 45,133 so it has been used only sparingly in the past 15 years. It was given a full bill of health in 1999 by Corten-Miller Garages of Boston, Lincs after a £4,000 spend for miscellaneous checks and adjustments to fluids and hoses, oil and washers, Connolly hide cleaner, shock absorbers and door mirrors plus a radio & alarm were fitted.

Reported to run and drive without fault, it is now offered for sale at a sensible guide price with MoT test certificate to February 21st 2014, V5C registration document and original Ferrari instruction books, plus sales and service handbook, this is an enormous amount of Grand Touring Ferrari for a relatively modest outlay.

The 2000 GTV was introduced in 1971 as the replacement for the 1750cc range. Once again the engine was rationalised throughout the range with its displacement increased to 1962cc by changing the bore and stroke. This engine retained carburettors for European markets and produces 150bhp at 5500rpm.

This particular GTV is finished in Rosso AR501 with a recently upholstered interior as per the original. The bodywork presents beautifully with sharp lines and the paintwork is virtually flawless. Having been the recipient of a serious restoration, the sills and door skins were all replaced so they are in excellent condition. The interior, as mentioned, was replaced only a year ago and comes with a new set of original carpets. The wooden veneers are great as is the rest of the interior. Even the electrics work as they should - not a boast you’ll hear from every Alfa owner!

The engine is the heart and soul of any Italian sports car and the 2000cc all alloy inline 4 fitted here is no disappointment as it has been completely refurbished... It sports Dellorto DHLA40 carburettors and she sounds as well as she goes thanks to the all-new stainless exhaust system. In the past 12 months, more than £1,600 has been spent on the engine and detailing of this car, to include, a new heavy duty battery, the removal of the cylinder head and replacement of the gasket, a re-tune and clean

of the Dellorto carburettors, new plugs, new valves, four new tyres of correct size and balancing of the car. Further expenditure was directed towards polishing down the paint and buffing-up to a deep and consistent shine. The rear parcel shelf which had grown tired has been removed, primed, painted and replaced, and with it, the rear window which had to come out has been replaced correctly too.

The gearbox is great and very precise and complements the rear axle well. The brakes have benefitted from the recent replacement of the servo/master cylinder and braided brake lines giving impressive brake performance for a 40 year old vehicle. The suspension is courtesy of a fast road kit and transforms the car radically. The axle and prop shaft are in great condition with no whines or issues.

This car is reported to handle sublimely with the capability to embarrass many modern cars. This Alfa Romeo has a current MoT, and even comes with a bespoke Alfa Romeo car cover in red, with logo, which in itself is a £400.00 item.

The Jaguar E-Type was introduced in 1961 to a totally stunned world at the Geneva Motor show as initially a Coupé and then a Roadster. Within a few months Graham Hill won in one at Oulton Park - and the rest is history. Now recognised as one of the most important and collectable cars from the 1960’s era, the Jaguar E-Type is truly the stuff of legend.

This series 1 E-Type is presented in Carmen Red with contrasting black leather interior. Supplied with large history portfolio, wire wheels, seat belts and stunning looks, this delightful car is a very low mileage and ownership example with the benefit of upgraded Zeus

For the increasingly affluent buyers the sleek and economical Morgan 4/4 stole their hearts and minds, despite not being the most powerful model in the range. At its launch in 1968 there was nothing wrong with the way it looked, but simply the lack of power from the engine. Morgan rectified this by fitting the Ford Kent engine which boosted the power to a more palatable 74bhp. The Plus 4 model was dropped with the option of 2+2 seating being passed on to the 4/4 line. It remained available in this form until 1982 when the Ford CVH engine used in the front-wheel-drive Escort was dropped in, thus improving power and economy once again by upping the output to 95bhp.

This special Morgan 4/4 benefits from being the property of just one careful owner from new, travelling just 31,000 miles in this time, but never being neglected. Accompanying the car is a thick folder of bills, invoices and

receipts for regular maintenance and annual rust proofing. Though not claiming to be a concours car, this is a bright and honest vehicle in Brunswick Green with black interior and a charming patina of age.

It possesses the Ford Kent Crossflow 1600cc four-cylinder engine and full stainless steel exhaust system. It also houses four passenger seats making this a very family-friendly sports car.

Ferrari took a bit of a gamble with the 308 GT4. The company had established an incomparable reputation for fabulous sports and GT cars with front mounted V12s, but were so nervous of playing with the formula for road cars that the boys from Maranello kept the famous name off the 308 GT4 until 1975. Perhaps the marketing men knew it would raise eyebrows, more startling than a transverse V8 was the pair of rear seats, bigger and more useable than any other mid-engined car had managed or would manage for a while. But another dilution of its hard earned sports car credentials, surely?

Finally, there was the styling- Bertone’s effort probably looks better now than it ever has, but at the time the ‘push-me pull-you’ proportions gave traditionalists a serious attack of the vapours. For all this the car was a huge success, more than 3600 were sold, dwarfing sales of V12 models and showing Ferrari the way forward. Whatever your views on the looks, you can’t argue with the power, the noise, the handling or the heritage. Today these ‘70s Ferraris look fantastic, handle brilliantly and are as fast as you are ever going to need in the real world, with a top speed of over 150mph and a 0-60mph acceleration time of 6.4 seconds. So what’s not to like? A decent one like this car will cost you no more than an equivalent new family car - which will continue to shed value faster than yesterday’s newspapers.

This is a delightful 308 GT4 with impeccable provenance, which also has an extensive history portfolio including her original books and manuals, serviced up to date along with a long MoT test. The body is described as blemish free and the interior is in superb order.

Between 1971 and 1975, a new 5.3 litre 12-cylinder Jaguar V12 engine was introduced, with uprated brakes and standard power steering. The short wheelbase fixedhead coupé body style was discontinued and the V12 was available only as a convertible and 2+2 coupé. The convertible used the longer-wheelbase 2+2 floorplan. It is easily identifiable by the large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12.

The story of the E-type is very well known and therefore does not bear repeating. However it is interesting to consider that the 2+2 coupés were often regarded as less desirable, which is surprising when you consider how stylish and usable they really were. This is good news for someone wishing to purchase this car today , because due to this misjudged preconception these cars carry little premium and are incredibly good value. They really are a

gem of a car and an eminently affordable entry to classic touring and pleasure rallying.

Furthermore this car benefits from having been the recipient of considerable recent restorative expenditure, in excess of £28,000, this has resulted in getting it into the best possible order. Regretfully, having spent more than he anticipated in the execution of the restoration, the car must now be sold. Our vendor purchased the car in 1998 from marque specialists JD Classics of Maldon. He chose this car because it was a correct UK, 1972 car with automatic gearbox and its rare and period colour of Primrose Yellow.

In the process of the restoration the car has received a new Webasto sun roof which makes the cabin comfortable on hot days, new head-lining, a new engine bay wiring loom, new starter MoTor, alternator, aluminium radiator and Kenlowe fan, plus a stainless steel exhaust system as well as a new fuel tank and piping. The list goes on and on and the car is accompanied by many invoices and hundreds of photos of the car that were taken throughout its restoration.

It is sold with UK V5C registration certificate and a fresh MoT. The current private registration number will be retained by the vendor and a period plate assigned to the car on completion of a successful sale.

Starting in 1951, VW offered an officially sanctioned camper conversion by Westfalia-werke of Franz Knobel & Sohne in Rheda-Wiedenbruck, Germany. Interiors were panelled in birch plywood and standard equipment included screened jalousie windows, a laminated folding table, storage cabinets, an ice box and electrical hook ups. Some models included a sink and pressure water system. A number of fold out seat arrangements provided sleeping accommodation. to the warm Californian climate, recent work includes new brakes, shockers, door rubbers, battery, tyres, roof rubbers, wooden roof lining, heavy duty flooring, stereo and steering box, seat covers, roof canvas, door panels and curtains, all wheels and bumpers have been powder coated in silver. Importantly it is the condition of the van with its solid floor pans and a large amount of its original features still intact that make this a fantastic example of VWs iconic Camper.

Interestingly we are told that a brand new 1600cc engine has been fitted and has only done 3500 miles however there is no paperwork to substantiate this. Certainly the drive train performs admirably with no cause for concern whatsoever. The steering is a delight, the long gear shifter with its mechanical clunk click action is simplicity itself, the lightness of the controls is a real surprise.

Fitted with a double rock n roll bed, roof bunk & front hammock bed, this little campervan also makes a for a sound financial investment that will always hold its value well, try and find another one as rock solid as this one, no restoration is required, sold with an MoT until March 2014 it just needs to be driven and enjoyed.

The Thunderbird was Ford’s response to Chevrolet’s Corvette. When the Thunderbird was introduced in 1955, it outsold the more expensive Corvette by 24 to 1 as a result of clean styling, creature comforts, and V8 refinement. The 1956 model included the addition of Ford’s Continental Kit which had become standard. This encompassed a rear mounted spare tyre and cowl vents on each side, as well as the all-important porthole windowed glass fibre hard top which was an optional extra at the time.

The Thunderbird offered for sale here is in all round excellent condition and is a car one would be proud to own. The Black bodywork with matching black glass-fibre hard top (with port hole windows) and brightly polished chrome work are all exceptional. Mechanically, the 312cubic inch 212hp V8 mated to automatic transmission delivers precision drive quality, firing first time and producing the spine-tingling rumble that only American MoTorcars can.

It is believed to have received a frame-on restoration by US marque specialists in 2002. Early in 2009 the Thunderbird was refinished in Raven Black. The original Special V8 and Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission were rebuilt and fuel and brake systems were also checked over at that time. The optional faux wire-wheel hubcaps are 1956-only optional equipment. Upgrades include a professionally installed air conditioning unit and concealed ventilation fans that

offered unusual cockpit comfort. A four-core radiator, heavy-duty fan and the supplementary electric cooling fan all help the car cool in parade situations.

The well-appointed interior, in tasteful two-tone Red and White, is finished to an excellent standard with comfort-contoured three-person full width seating, period correct control panel and radio, as well as carpets and door-cards. This car further benefits from not only possessing the rare hard top, but also a brand new fabric-grained vinyl soft-top (currently unfitted) which when not in use collapses discreetly behind the bench seating in roadster style.

You could be driving this car which is today offered with UK V5C Registration Certificate, UK MoT test certificate, sundry invoices and bills and subject to insurance, it can be driven from the sale.

The Porsche 944 and all its derivatives were the mainstays of Porsche production throughout the 80’s. The 944 launched into the United Kingdom in May of 1982 and immediately answered all of the criticisms aimed at its predecessor the 924. Exquisite looks, excellent fuel economy, advanced engineering, superb build quality, towering performance and near perfect neutral handling courtesy of 50/50 weight distribution meant that the 944 quickly became top of every sports car enthusiasts shopping list. By the end of its production run in 1991 the 944 had evolved into a more than capable supercar and is today still capable of embarrassing more modern machinery.

This particular model is an early 1985 example of the 944 finished in silver with black half leather interior it is presented in lovely condition as a result of its pampered life having covered only 85,000 miles. The car has a great history file, which shows an extensive list of work undertaken on the car.

Examples of the work that has been carried out is a gearbox and rear axle service along with the suspension replaced and reset. A new drive shaft was fitted in 2004 along with

a new steering rack and wheel bearings shortly after in 2005. The interior has also received attention during its life span and has been recovered in black leatherette, there is also a new spare wheel and carpet fitted in the boot. The cam belt and tensioners where also replaced on the car approximately 3 years ago.

The Porsche 944 is possibly the most affordable Porsche sports car that you can get your hands on but don’t be confused in thinking the price effects the performance!

The 1974 Jeans Beetle was a 1200cc 34hp based model with Tunisian Yellow paintwork, 4.5j x 15 GT sports wheels, side body and engine cover stripes, denim seat covers with coloured stitching and pockets in the back rests and heated rear window, the trim mouldings were in black and all European models were fitted with a MW/VHF radio.

This limited edition VW Beetle really is a jack of all trades, capable of tackling all the tasks any person may ask of a car, we suspect the real reason that this 1930s designed car was still Mexico’s best seller some distance into the 21st century was that it is close to indestructible. Lot 138

Developed under the watchful eye of Porsche Chief Executive Peter Schutz, the 911 Carrera 3.2 made its debut at the September 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show. Visually indebted to the outgoing 911 SC, the newcomer wore a revised front valance complete with auxiliary driving lamps and a subtle ‘Carrera’ script on its engine lid. Available in Coupé, targa and cabriolet guises, it remained faithful to established 911 practice by employing all-round independent torsion-bar suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and rack and pinion steering. Estimated to be eighty-percent new, the model’s 3164cc (hence ‘3.2’) flat-six engine was credited with developing 231bhp and 209lbft of torque. Allied to five-speed transmission, it proved both rev-happy and flexible. Reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds and 153mph.

Top down classic MoToring doesn’t get much better than in this elegant 911 convertible. We are informed by the vendor that this particular example first registered on the 19th of September 1985, drives superbly and also comes with a good history file and previous MoT certificates going back to the early 90s. The air-cooled flat six is oil tight, very compliant and the soundtrack is addictive. The 915 type gearbox works perfectly, the steering is precise, indeed the whole driving experience is that of a very well sorted 911.

Importantly we are informed the heat exchangers work perfectly. Inside it is very clean with very little wear, a testament to just how well these cars were built. The Porsche Parisian Blue paintwork is in great order and gleams beautifully, the paintwork and panels look to be in good order throughout.

The vendor informs us that the car is in excellent order throughout and raising or lowering the roof is a very simple affair. Sold with private number plate, MoT until June 2014 and taxed until November of this year this car is a joy to drive, with the air of one that’s been very well looked after over the years.

Lot 142

The Triumph TR4 was introduced in 1961 to follow its very successful predecessors, the TR2 and TR3. Code named ‘Zest’ during development, the body was given a more modern and updated appearance by Michelotti but its drive train and chassis remained the same using the well proven four cylinder pushrod unit, however its capacity was increased from 1991cc to 2138cc. Handling was improved by a three inch wider track and steering was also updated to the more modern and precise rack and pinion system. Internally the car gained wind-up windows and the new angular rear end allowed for a boot with a very reasonable luggage capacity for a sports car. Another innovation was the option of an alloy hard top with a removable roof panel that was five years ahead of Porsche’s famous 911 Targa. 40,235 cars were built between 1961 and 1965 and over the years this car has become one of Triumphs most popular sports cars.

This TR4 was originally exported to the dry state of California. It returned to Europe in the 1980s and was brought back to the UK by the last owner in 2009. It received an extensive service (£1,200) last year. This included an engine rebalance, new brake callipers, discs and pads. Included in the sale is an aluminium Surrey hard-top, soft-top and spare wheel. This TR4 is a lovely useable example with great character. Original sports modifications include an uprated distributor, twin Webers and a sports

exhaust, which delivers a superb soundtrack. She has rare Triumph globe hubcaps, which are not easy to come across these days.

The car has been garaged for the majority of its life and the body work is rust free and in good condition. There is some minor paint damage from transporting the vehicle years ago, but this is very minor and does not detract from the general quality of the paintwork and body. Offered at a most realistic estimate, TR4s are certainly a model on the up and up.

The Lotus Esprit was launched at the 1975 Paris Auto Show and would see many evolutions by three auto designers, Guigiaro, Peter Stevens and Julian Thomson. It followed with the Lotus tradition of every model name starting with the letter ‘E’ and gaining performance due to relative lightness, the first Esprits weighing only 1000kgs. It was well received and noted for its fine handling and lively power that came from its Lotus 907 2.0litre 4 cylinder engine. The chassis was more than capable of handling various increases in power and by 1980 Lotus had introduced the 2.2 litre turbocharged Limited Edition in the colours of their Formula One sponsor, Essex Petroleum. In 1978 they commemorated the success of the Lotus 79 and the World Championship for Mario Andretti with the black and gold John Player Specials.

The Lotus Esprit is the most recognisable of the Bond cars second to the DB5 and featured in ‘The Spy That Loved Me’,

notably in submarine form and in the 1981 production of ‘For Your Eyes Only’, it was finished in Copper Metallic to contrast the snow covered alpine shots.

Offered here is a very interesting Esprit used by Colin Chapman’s Lotus Company as a test/development car for the turbo version. It was used by Pinewood Studios as a ‘colour swatch’ for the coming production of ‘ For Your Eyes Only’. MPW 71W was chosen to be painted Copper Metallic. It was decided that it was most suitable and a Copper Lotus Esprit registration OPW 678W appeared in the film. The history file shows period photographs of the Esprit in both Essex Petroleum livery being tested and in its ‘Bond’ attire outside the Hethel factory. It is further understood that, in its responsibilities as a development/test car, it appeared at the launch of Colin Chapman’s new ‘Lotus Esprit Essex Turbo’ in the Albert Hall, in attendance were Dame Shirley Bassey among others. Finally, it is believed that this car was used in the development of a planned Type 909 V8 engine, though if this is the case, it does not accompany the car now and regrettably Lotus could not confirm this claim, albeit ‘past employees have some memory of it’ being so.

This is an affordable Esprit which looks great and can only appreciate especially with its links with two global brands . . . .be quick!

The VW Camper has always conjured up images of freedom and adventure, any image of the great outdoors wouldn’t be complete without a ‘Westy’ or ‘Splitty’ in the picture. The Californian West Coast has moved the vision to iconic status as generations have ‘lived the dream’ with endless summers of beaches and surfing. . . . peace and love for the less inclined.

This van was originally purchased from Bridge MoTors in Leicester in July 1965 by the current owner’s father. It has a Canterbury Pitt camper interior and was used for many holidays touring Europe during the 60s and 70s. It was then sold in the late 1970s and was amazingly purchased by the curent owner in 1990, after spotting it on a local driveway. It was completely restored in the mid 1990s by specialists Dowson Bowler. Having been continuously kept in a garage since, this summer bargain is supplied with an MoT until July 2014.

From their inception, Vespa scooters have been known for their painted, pressed steel uni-body which combines a complete cowling for the engine, a flat floorboard and a prominent front fairing, all creating a singularly endearing and enduring shape. Widely regarded as a design classic, the Alfa Romeo Spider (105/115 series) was produced by the Italian manufacturer from 1966 to 1993. With production spanning three decades and only incurring minor aesthetic and mechanical changes in that period, the car, forever immortalised by Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate, stands as a true credit to those first cars assembled by Pininfarina.

With a full history dating back to 1985, this right-hand drive ‘67 Duetto is reading only 54,265 miles. It has had 4 previous owners and was comprehensively restored between 1985-1994 by a respected Alfa Romeo specialist.

It was purchased by the last owner in 1994 and sold to the current owner in 2007. He has retained all MoTs since the restoration and service records for general maintenance since 1985.

The BMW E39 5 series arrived to worldwide critical acclaim in 1996, the jewel in the crown was considered to be the 528i which, at the time of the launch, was considered to be the best all round luxury car money could buy. The ride was excellent and this was allied to seamless automatic transmissions, great steering and handling as well as sharp brakes that equalled the best car in its class bar none. The E39 was all new, with alloy suspension including a new multi-link rear end, alloy block M52 engines and CAN-bus electronics. Most E39s were SE spec with climate control air conditioning, front fog lights and alloy wheels, E39 production ended in 2003.

A superb example of BMWs E39 5 series that has led a very pampered life in the hands of its current owner, with a warranted mileage of just under 114000 miles it comes with a good service history, its provenance and history is substantial with 15 stamps in the service book which are from main dealers until 2006 when an independent specialist took over.

We are informed by the vendor that in January of this year the car received an Inspection I service, a new water pump and coolant, fresh transmission oil, the rear suspension bushes were overhauled, the air conditioning was re-gassed, and all 5 alloys wheelswere refurbished. The car comes complete with all of the original BMW dealer handbooks and wallet, the original E39 sales brochure plus the original sales invoice from new showing an on the road price of £35995.93

The 2.8 petrol engine fires readily from cold with no blue smoke or nasty knocks or rattles, all the fluid levels are

correct and fresh and all hoses are clean and supple. It drives both smoothly and swiftly with nicely weighted steering and firm brakes that track both straight and true. All the electrics and gauges work perfectly and when warm the temperature gauge sits on exactly half way and never moves.

Externally the arctic silver bodywork is very straight, the gloss of its paintwork is deep and the shut lines and gaps are reassuringly symmetrical and narrow, likewise the interior is a superb place to be, the leather is clean and supple and the wood veneer retains a deep shine.

Probably one of the nicest E39s on the market this car has wanted for nothing in terms of maintenance, sold with an MoT until May 2014, private number plate, and with no reserve this car offers incredible value for money.

The original Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was the first Ford to wear the Cosworth badge and was introduced at the 1985 Geneva Motor Show as a means of homologating the Sierra for Group A Touring Car racing, only 5545 were built. Based on the three-door Sierra body shell, it was designed by Ford’s Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) and was powered by a Cosworth-designed 2.0-litre turbo engine of now legendary repute. The RS Cosworth used a 204bhp 2.0 litre DOHC engine with a Garret T3 turbocharger and intercooler. Capable of 0-62mph in 6.8 seconds and a 150mph top speed, yet available for the reasonably affordable sum of £15,950, in 1986 the Sierra Cosworth was a new kind of performance car - a blue-collar hero able to humble true exotica.

With its outlandish rear wing and stunning white bodywork this particular three-door Sierra RS Cosworth bears all the hallmarks of that revered type of road car, the original

homologation model. Climbing into this car you cannot help but notice just how little use this car has seen over the years. The dashboard is in beautiful condition (a known weak spot on any Sierra), the body hugging Recaro seats are like new, even the gear knob and steering wheel still retain their factory grain finish, the pedal rubbers and original Ford rubber mats look virtually new.. clearly this Cosworth has led a very pampered life.

The vendor, who incidentally is a Ford RS Owners Club Member, informs us that this car has been in private storage for many years and as such has seen very little use on public roads. In November 2012 the car was subject to a £1,700 mechanical health-check by BBR GTi of Brackley in Northampton, consequently the car is reported to drive without fault. The way the engine whips the needle round the speedo is almost surreal. Also that 150mph headline figure really is no joke...

A look along this car’s flanks reveals neither undulation nor kinks, panel fit is perfect and the paint has a deep lustre throughout. All the doors and lids shut cleanly and panel gaps are narrow and consistent. The Ferrari 328 first appeared in 1985 as the successor to the 308, featuring a normally aspirated 3.2V8 engine and very handsome styling. Instantly popular, Ferrari went on to produce 7,400 variants worldwide during the production run which finished late in 1989. Now regarded as a true design classic, this ultimate 270 bhp sportscar of the day reached 0 - 60 in 5.5 seconds and went to a top speed of 166mph.

We have the pleasure of offering, what must surely be one of the finest examples available of this gracefully ageing classic in GTS (Targa top) format. The vendor, who has owned the car for many years has just had the car sent to Ferrari specialists JCT600 in Leeds for a service. A full condition report will be made available by JCT600 for any interested bidders.

Presented in Rosso Red bodywork with cream interior, this 328 has covered only 26,000 miles from new and would make an ideal investment, as prices continue to rise for Ferraris from this iconic era.

The Mercedes-Benz R129 models were produced from 1989 through to 2001 and were sold under the ‘SL-Class’ model names. It was based on the shortened floor pan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 saloon and featured many innovative details seen for the time, for example, electronically controlled shock absorbers and a hidden automatically extending roll-over bar. The level of standard equipment was high, with electrically operated windows, mirrors, seats and convertible hood. The R129 came to public attention in 1991 when Diana, Princess of Wales, sold her Jaguar XJS to lease a J-registration, metallic-red 500SL, so becoming the first member of the Royal Family to use a foreign car.

This 1990 500SL was dry-stored as part of a large collection for the last seven years and has only recently been recommissioned for the road. It benefits from being in exceptional rust-free condition and resplendent in Brilliant Silver with full black leather interior trim and the rear seat option. Other options include a rare factory hard top and eight-hole alloy wheels. This very capable Mercedes boasts

the 5.0 litre V8 power plant that produces 322bhp at 5500rpm. It has covered a mere 116,000 miles from new which is supported by a comprehensive service history from main agent and marques specialists. It is offered with fresh MoT test certificate and UK V5C. Karmann had a long association was Volkswagen, the Karmann Cabriolets had seating for four occupants which made them much more appealing to MoTorists seeking an economical, yet stylish means of transportation. The Karmann cabriolet, for the most part, mirrored the development of the Beetle during its lifespan, both mechanically and in body features. The folding top mechanism maintained its distinctive appearance. When in the lowered position, the top sat on the rear deck, covered with a canvas boot.

We are informed by the vendor that this particular Karmann Beetle convertible was subject to a complete rebuild and refurbishment in 2010 by an established Volkswagen restorer and enthusiast from Lincolnshire, of which there is photographic documentation. Importantly we are told this car carries a factory Karmann chassis number thus identifying it as the genuine article. Refinished in a unique

colour combination of Red and Black this VW is guaranteed to turn heads. The two tone paintwork glimmers and has been finished to a very high level, the sills are corrosion free and both strengthening support rails unique to this car have also been replaced.

The beautifully clean flat four engine runs extremely well and starts instantly. There are no noises or leaks from the suspension and the gear changes are classic Beetle. Sold with a long MoT this car is a family fun icon that’s a hoot to drive, cheap to maintain and run with a fabulous parts and club support. Affordable, open top MoToring really doesn’t get any better than this.

The year after production of the legendary 911 had commenced in 1964, Porsche introduced the similarly bodied 912 as an entry level model to the prestigious German marque. As such, it shared its monocoque steel chassis with that of the 911, together with independent front torsion bar and trailing arm rear suspension with all-round disc brakes. At the 912’s heart, however, was a 1,582cc flat four cylinder engine - rather than the 911’s 1,991cc six cylinder unit.

Presented in silver metallic with black leather interior, this Porsche 912 boasts electric seats, CD stereo, immobilizer and Fuch alloy wheels.

This lovely 912 is described by the vendor as running and driving very well. “She brakes sharply, the gear change is crisp.and she runs and drives correctly.” It is a factory 5 speed manual example upgraded with full flow oil filter and 996 electric seats for comfortable daily driving and classic touring.

The vehicle has a Full V5C European log book, long MoT test and historic road tax.

Throughout the 1970s Jaguar had been developing “Project XJ40”, which was an all-new model intended to replace the original XJ6. Due to the 1973 oil crisis and problems at parent company British Leyland, the car was continually delayed. Proposals from both Jaguar’s in-house designers and Pininfarina were received and eventually a design was chosen to be carried through to production in February 1981.

British Leyland had considered providing the Rover V8 engine for the car, however the XJ40 bodyshell was a different shape, preventing the fitment of the V-configuration engine, further delaying the launch. The interior of the XJ40 was trimmed with either walnut or rosewood, and either cloth or, like this car, beautiful leather upholstery. These luxury cars featured an instrument binnacle that used digital readouts able to alert the driver

of bulb failure, brake pad wear, unlatched doors/boot, and low coolant level.

For the special ‘Sovereign model’ the equipment was significantly more than that of the base XJ6. Included was air conditioning, headlamp washers, a six-speaker sound system, rear adjustable suspension, and ABS. The headlamps fitted were the rectangular single units and the window frames were chrome-plated. Luxury indeed.

This XJ40 has lived a pampered life in the hands of just two-owners. The first was a wealthy London resident who kept the car in an underground garage in Kensington, using it for only six months of the year as he spent the remainder of his time abroad. The second keeper was gifted the car upon the death of the first. Regrettably, in the estate dealings of the deceased, no history for this car was retained so there is very little to support the extremely low mileage of sub 25,000miles. This special Jaguar is totally original, absolutely unmolested and almost as new. There is no rust anywhere on the car which is sold with a long MoT and UK V5C.

The 1926 Flatnose Morris was more than just a restyle on the Bullnose, which had remained largely unchanged since 1915. William Morris was apparently unhappy with the first prototype, likening the flat radiator to a tombstone, and ordered it to be narrowed by two inches. By 1929, the sharp corners had been softened and Morris described the saloon as ‘dome-backed’. During the 1930 season, nickel plating was replaced with chrome and Triplex glass was introduced to comply with new safety glass legislation. A folding head saloon was also introduced, identified by the absence of an external metal sun-visor.

First registered in 1930, this superbly presented Morris Flatnose 2-seater Tourer has been in the same ownership for that last 16 years. We are informed that this little car was subject to a rolling restoration over the years to keep the car in tip top condition. The interior is a fabulous place

to be with all doors opening and closing nicely. We are informed that all seating and carpets have recently been restored or replaced and are matched with a full hood set and side screens and a full tonneau cover. A charming pre-war Motor car that is ready to be driven and enjoyed.

A blinkin’ BIG PENCIL...

The Derwent giant pencils are made by a local timber merchant, cut and shaped into rough hexagons, then sanded and planed making the sides smooth and shaping the point. The ‘leads’ (which are actually graphite plus binding materials) are made by mixing the ingredients and extruding through a very large diameter die. The leads are then dried in the oven then glued into place in holes drilled in the centre of the pencils. The 6ft pencils are then painted with water based paint and finished with adhesive letters.

The Prowler was designed as a ‘heritage concept’ (the phrase ‘Retro’ being banned by Bob Eaton, Chairman of Chrysler Corporation) following the Viper Project. With the extensive use of aluminium construction and composite materials, the weight savings were such that it was deemed unnecessary to use a heavy V8 for power when a lightweight V6 would give ample performance and improved economy. The Chip Foose styling evoked the look of the American Hot Rod, these cult vehicles of the post-war American autoMoTive culture themselves often based on cut-down pre-war roadsters and coupés. Shown as a concept at the 1993 Detroit show, the reaction was so favourable that three years later a production version was displayed with limited customer deliveries for the following year. Demand was such that production recommenced in 1999 with an upgraded 3.5-litre V6 and continued until 2002 with various colour options becoming available other than the original “Prowler Purple”.

We are informed by the vendor that this 1998 model year example, finished in Prowler Purple was imported to the UK as a new car in 1999, it was purchased by the vendor unregistered and subsequently put through SVA type approval and as such is road legal and registered in the UK . To conform, the MoTorcycle headlamps and indicators were fitted, these being removable to return it to original specification. Since registration the car has been used

very little other than shows and Sunday afternoon drives hence it’s extremely low mileage, sold with a fresh MoT this Prowler with its retro hod rod looks is sensational and has to be one of the most unusual cars to auction here this weekend.

All factory Type 25 Westys were lefthand drive, meaning this car is a unique build by an enthusiastic VW addict… In his mind, he wanted to build the perfect righthand drive Westfalia recreation for its spacious and practical layout. What started as a passion project, continued into a three year battle to get the vehicle just right…

It began with the eventual sourcing of a one-owner from new GL with cruise control, electric windows, mirrors and power steering and this vehicle was even more attractive as it was also fitted with quarter lights which we understand to be very rare. They’re tough to find, but sourcing a candidate in the correct order for a painless conversion proved nigh-on impossible. This Caravelle still retains the stock standard mechanicals which are a 2.1litre fuel-injected and water-cooled engine capable of pushing the vehicle effortlessly through the automatic gearbox.

Mike Simmonds at Bounce Rentals in Warwick, a VW Specialist, was able to bespoke manufacture and fit a complete new pop-top roof assembly designed to look just like the Westfalia roof, but able to be fitted to a Caravelle or a Panel Van. Mike further improved the Caravelle by helping the restorer with a new Westy style interior bespoke fitted to Type 25’s. The interior conversion was completed by sourcing many components, namely, seats, interior panels, a kitchen block, rock ‘n’ roll bed and cupboards all from genuine Westfalia’s. Likewise, the flooring which is traditionally a grey plastic floor with a removable grey carpet had to be crafted, and a grey rubber lino was chosen as the solution. It looks as if it could have been installed in the Westy in 1990 as it’s perfectly in keeping with the remainder of the cabin. Body repairs and attention were given to the cabin steps and around the bottom of the windscreen where water had gotten trapped and it had begun to corrode. Once completed the entire Camper was given a fresh coat of Dove Grey paint (Yes, it’s actually a metallic Blue colour. We don’t know why VW call it Dove Grey either…).

Being a standard mechanical vehicle, there are no complaints on the way that she runs and behaves, in fact, her current owner has recently been to France for a month then Dorset, before this special VW was borrowed by the Small Steps charity to go to shelter fundraisers at Glastonbury.

No one could do go-faster quite like Ford, and at the unveiling in August 1980, the XR3 represented a masterclass in addenda-driven design. The whale-tail spoiler, the distinctive - soon to be iconic - cloverleaf alloy wheels, both an instant classic.

Its 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine was hailed as the height of modernity and could rustle up a whole 96bhp. Okay, it may have been less than 100bhp, but this was 1980 and in the XR3’s defence, its 8.5sec 0-60mph time was quicker than the Golf GTI’s, with 14bhp less.

This car benefits from having had thousands of pounds lavished on it over the years which makes it a truly special XR3, with retro lines and of course, that certain XR3 caché. The engine bay is truly special with the CVH unit having been fully rebuilt and upgraded by way of a high-lift cam and the replacement of all the pipes, hosing and even a K&N Filter. It also has a full stainless steel exhaust, improving engine efficiency, and to the interior, the placement of an RS Steering Wheel adds credibility whilst the Recaro seats complete the look.

The XR3, to we kids of the ‘80s, was as much a part of our formative MoToring years as the New Romantics were to our record collections.

If, like many of us, you missed your chance to own one when it was the world’s most hallowed Hot Hatch, then you must scratch that itch now and not let this one get away.

The golden rule for anyone hoping to buy at auction is to thoroughly inspect the lot you are interested in before bidding, as no warranty or guarantee is given with anything that is sold. For this reason the auction centre is open for viewing prior to each Auction (please check times). All bids are final and irrevocable. Bidder RegistrationYou can bid at auction either in person by attending the sale, by telephone, by leaving a commission bid or live, online. To meet current legislative requirements, you will need to provide proof of identification in the form of a passport or drivers licence and a recent utility bill as proof of address. Credit or debit card details will also be required. When submitting forms in absentia, please try to ensure they reach us no later than 48 hours before the auction is due to take place. How fast will the auctioneer go?The auctioneer will aim to sell approximately 90 lots of Automobilia per hour and 25 – 30 vehicles per hour.

Bidding at Silverstone AuctionsIf you are planning to attend the sale in person, please complete the relevant Bidder Registration Form. Before the sale you will be assigned a paddle number that you will be able to use on the day. Note that entry to a sale is on presentation of the relevant sale catalogue. Online biddingSilverstone Auctions has partnered with i-Bidder.com to allow you to bid live on sale day from anywhere. Registration for internet bidding is done directly on the i-Bidder.com website. We advise that you register with i-Bidder at least 48 hours before a sale to allow sufficient time for your registration to be approved. Using i-bidder carries an additional buyers premium charge of 1% for Motor cars and 3% for automobilia.i-bidder.com

Telephone biddingShould you be unable to attend the auction on sale day, telephone bidding will still allow you to bid live. On the day of the sale, a member of Silverstone Auctions will contact you, usually a few lots prior to your selected lots and will guide you through the process. To register a telephone bid, please complete the relevant Absentee Bidder Registration form. It is important that you provide us with alternative contact numbers to ensure that we are able

to contact you on the day. If, for any reason, we are unable to contact you on any of the telephone numbers you submitted, you may wish to turn your bid into a commission bid by complet-ing the appropriate information on the form. This however is entirely optional. Note that we do not operate telephone bids for lots with a low estimate value below £500.

Commission biddingIf you think you might not be contactable on the day of the sale, you may leave with us a commission bid. To submit a commission bid, please complete our Absentee Bidder Registration form indicating, for each lot you wish to bid on, the maximum amount you are willing to bid up to (excluding commission and VAT). We will execute your bid as low as possible on your behalf.

CataloguesCatalogues can be purchased online or by contacting our catalogue subscription department (+44 (0)1926 691141). Please ensure that you bring your catalogue to the sale as entry is by catalogue only. Each catalogue allows two people entry on the view and sale days. Further copies of the catalogue can be purchased at the Auction.

WarrantiesAll lots are sold on an ‘as seen’ basis. You may wish to bring a competent mechanic with you to inspect any Motor Vehicles on your behalf. The catalogue will describe the lots to the best of our ability on information supplied. You should, however, satisfy yourself as to the condition, age, and integrity of any lot prior to bidding as no warranties whatsoever are given in relation to any lot.Once the auctioneer drops the hammer a contract is made and you are obligated to proceed with the purchase. It is therefore vital that you are satisfied with the condition of the lot you intend to bid upon before doing so. ChargesLike the vast majority of auctioneers, Silverstone Auctions Limited charge what is known as a buyer’s premium. Our standard buyer’s premium charges are 12.5% of the hammer price up to £30,000 and 10% thereafter on Motor vehicles (cars and MoTorcycles) and 15% of the hammer price for automobilia items + VAT. Buyer’s premium is subject to VAT at the prevailing rate on the day of the auction. 

PaymentAny lot you purchase can only be released when full settlement (inclusive of all charges) of any invoices issued to you is received. Before bidding, you should ensure that you have the necessary funds available and are able to pay according to one of the methods set out in the Terms and Conditions.Payment can be made in person or by bank transfer only. There will be a 1.76% surcharge on credit cards (VISA/ Mastercard) and cash is accepted but only up to the value of £5,000.
