Thanks to all the Silverlake residents who decorated their homes for the holidays. The final decision was a difficult one due to all beautifully decorated homes to choose from, but the winner of the 8th Annual Holiday decorating contest is the Weidenheft’s of Fieldstone. As the official winner, the Weidenheft’s received $100 cash prize and bragging rights for the year.

Summer basketball is available for boys and girls ages 7 to 11. Games will begin June 4 through July 16, 2016 and will be held at Nolan Ryan/Marek schools. Register now for beginner or experienced teams at www.ShadowcreekSports.org.

SilverlakeDawson High's Digital Cinema Production Team Wins Regionals -

Heading to State Finals in Corpus ChristiDawson High School's "ETV" (Eagle TV production students)

competed in a district level SkillsUSA regional competition in the Digital Cinema Production category January 30th at Alvin Community College. Four teams from Dawson competed, and two landed the top two spots! Kaarthik Tharmiya and Robert Bromley placed first, and Oscar Guzman and Luke Olson took second at a large award ceremony February 6th at San Jacinto College.

These wins now send Dawson's young producers to Corpus Christi for the State SkillsUSA 5-day Competition in early April. Each team will be assigned a short film to write, film and produce in a two day period, with judging and awards to follow. Competition will be all participating high schools in Texas.

Dawson's ETV and Audio/Video Production teacher Laura McClellan stated, " I have taught these students anywhere from 2-4 years and I’m ecstatic to see where their talent is taking them. We are all thrilled with their potential and that Dawson's A/V program will be recognized across the State."

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry that work together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student participant excel, by providing educational
