We have tried to develop a balanced program, which encompasses the most relevant areas and allows us to present opportunities and challenges from a social, economic and business point of view.

We hope that the IV Forum RIES19 will be a space for refl ection, knowledge exchange and, above all, a starting point to build a new vision adjusted to a reality that has come to stay.

From the Organizing Committee of the IV Forum RIES19 we want to thank all the people and entities that have supported this event in one way or another and invite you to share this inspiring journey.

Addressing population aging from multiple perspectives to improve the quality of life and comfort level of citizens is one of the great challenges of our society.

Scientifi c advances, healthy lifestyle, technological development or access to health are some of the factors responsible for the increase in life expectancy, already above 80 years on average in some European regions.

From the Galician Health Cluster (Cluster Saúde de Galicia), CSG, we are aware of this reality. As a key agent for the interaction within partners from diff erent areas of activity and knowledge, we have chosen Silver Economy as the central theme of the IV Forum RIES19. We will be analyzing the context and the opportunities that open up to this new period of “second youth”.

The city of A Coruña has been chosen to host this debate during 23th and 24th of October. It will off er an unmatched framework for the confl uence of attendees from all walks of life: companies, administration, associations, foundations, users, etc.

Cluster Saúde de Galicia, CSG, includes public and private entities from the health and socio-health sectors.

Our main objective is to be a platform of collaboration and reference from which to boost the competitiveness of the health industry of Galicia contributing to its economic and social development through cooperation between all public and private institutions.

Our activities are aligned to support three main objectives: innovation, internationalization and training. Always looking for cooperation and economic development as a result. In addition, we seek to catalyze eff ective cooperation in R + D + i of the sector.

Our trajectory goes back to 2011 when the association with 15 founding partners was formed. From 2012 to 2015, the fi rst Strategic Plan of the cluster was established and the fi rst working groups were launched to address collaborative projects in Health Organization, Technology and Nutrition focused on addressing healthy active aging.

At the end of 2016, the CSG is committed to establish its own structure to drive the cluster project, leading the communication among the agents of the Galician health ecosystem.

In these last two years, the Cluster Saúde de Galicia, CSG, has reached a series of milestones, positioning itself as a leading representative of the health and social-health companies in Galicia:

• The CSG participates in European projects TITTAN and CODIGOMAIS as stakeholder and benefi ciary respectively.

• The CSG leads the Galician Health Ecosystem in the European network of health ecosystems ECHAlliance

• Interclusters collaborations are established within national health clusters and cross-sectional clusters within Galicia.

• Actions to support innovation, training and knowledge among partners are signifi cantly increased.

was just supporting some activities. HealthDay.si soon became partner with international networks such us Health 2.0 and European Connected Health Alliance.

The latter became Gregor’s employer or major client in 2017 when Gregor was accepted as an International Ecosystem Coordinator. In ECHAlliance, one of the largest independent networks in connected digital health in Europe, Gregor is responsible for regular contacts with aproximatelly 30 ecosystems. He is continuously talking to the coordinators in each region where his organisation is present to discuss priority topics, events, developements, projects and needs. He also coordinates the Medicines Optimisation Working Group, where among others he also worked with the World Health Organisation. Gregor also leads special projects, such as organisation of learning expeditions from one ecosystem to another with the aim to propel cooperation.

Gregor has also been the initiatior of the recently established DIH.HealthDay.si in the Slovenian ecosystem. The DIH programme was created because he and his colleagues felt that there was an unmet need to better navigate the very specifi c space of health certifi cation, validation and reimbursement. Gregor is the co-leader of the programme and is

directly involved in consulting innovators and holding the dialogue with all key stakeholders.

Gregor operates as a consultant on topics of business development, data analytics and marketing. His recent focus has also been GDPR, where he has been leading teams of legal and IT security experts in large health oriented projects to ensure privacy compliance. Prior to working in healthcare Gregor experienced a variety of roles in the advertising, marketing, startup, consulting and IT industries. Gregor’s prime speciality outside of healthcare is combining marketing and fi nance to create dynamic business modeling and planning beyond just conceptual frameworks such as business model generation, canvases and similar. His own special project is called Woodster Bikes, and that has beed written about by the BBC, the Easyjet’s infl ight magazine, and has also been a partner to the Nadal Olazabal Invitational charity golf tournament.

In this way, all the elements of the value chain participate: providers of social and health services, technology companies, research units, foundations and users. This allows us to create an ecosystem that can be considered as an international reference.

ACTIVAGE Project

ACTIVAGE is a great European R&D and innovation initiative whose goal is to develop Internet-based solutions of Things (IoT) to face the increase in life expectancy, promoting active and healthy aging. It is supported by the Framework Program for Research and Innovation of the European Union Horizon 2020, and has a budget of 25.3 million euros and a execution period of 42 months.

ACTIVAGE aims to create a dynamic ecosystem (the fi rst of these characteristics in Europe) that interconnects up to 43,000 applications and devices through IoT technology. It is a large-scale experience, which will involve 7,200 people in seven European countries: Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, Greece, Finland and Spain.

neuroATLANTIC Project

The CSG, partner of the neuroATLANTIC consortium, conducts a fi rst workshop to present the project within its annual international forum where regulators, suppliers and users of the healthcare and social care sectors meet.

Summary

Neurological diseases are disorders that aff ect the central nervous system and can impair the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerve or neuromuscular function. Most of these diseases are directly related to ageing, with Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and stroke being especially relevant due to their incidence and the economic burden they carry. More than 7.5 million European citizens aged between 30 and 99 years suff er from diff erent types of dementia.

NEUROATLANTIC aims to bring together the remarkable scientifi c and technological capacities found within the Atlantic Area in the fi eld of the neurological diseases (e.g. Alzheimer’s Disease, stroke, etc.).

This project will act on the clinical, preclinical and capitalization aspects accelerating the uptake of new innovations that will revolutionize the way in which neurological diseases are handled within the area.

This project will focus on setting up a transnational platform to develop novel theragnostics agents for the treatment and early diagnosis of these devastating and prevalent diseases.
