1. Open Silhouette Studio®

2. Create the card

3. Open My Library

If you haven’t already downloaded and installed Silhouette Studio®, please visit http://www.silhouetteamerica.com/software.aspx and download the latest version. Follow the installation instructions as prompted.

Locate Silhouette Studio in the Start Menu under All Programs -> Silhouette Studio (or in the Applications folder on a Mac®), and double-click the icon to get started.

Using your paper trimmer, cut an 8” x 6” rectangle from your patterned paper and fold it in half to create a 4” wide x 6” tall (10cm x 15cm)side-folding card.

Click the My Library button on the toolbar on the left to open My Library.

When My Library opens you will see the 50 designs included in Silhouette Studio®.

You can rename designs by right-clicking (Control click on Mac®) and choosing Rename Item. You can then type a new name for the image.

You may want to categorize your designs to make them easier to find in the future. To create folders for organizing your designs, click on the My Library menu item in the folders panel on the left. Next, click the New Folder button

found at the top of the My Library area.

Type a name for the folder you would like to create. New folders will appear beneath the My Library item in the folders panel.

Drag designs from the display panel on the right into any folder in the folders panel on the left. You can create subfolders by highlighting the folder you want to contain

your new subfolder and clicking the New Folder button .

4. Cut the bracketsIn the search box directly above the display panel of My Library type the word “bracket”. My Library will search for designs as you type.

Double-click on the bracket design you prefer to paste it into the drawing area of Silhouette Studio.

Select the bracket and resize it using the resizing handles found on the corners of the bracket’s bounding box to around 3” (5cm).

Tip

Tip

Some designs are very large or very small or very intricate. To help you manipulate different designs, it may be helpful to zoom in, zoom out, or pan around the drawing area for a better view.

Zoom in or out by using the various zoom tools found in the toolbar at the top of the window or by holding ALT (OPTION on Mac®) and scrolling the scrollwheel on the mouse.

Pan the drawing area by using the scrollbars on the right and bottom of the drawing area, or by holding SPACE while clicking and dragging the drawing area.

There are four different ways to copy and paste in Silhouette Studio®. You can find copy and paste options in the Edit menu, in the toolbar at the top of the window, and in the menu that appears when you right-click on a selected shape. You can also use CTRL + C (Cmd + C on Mac®) and CTRL + V (Cmd + V on Mac®) to copy and paste selected designs.

Copy the bracket by selecting it and clicking the Copy but-

ton found in the toolbar along the top of the window.

Paste the bracket by using the Paste button in the same toolbar.

Move the second bracket to the right of the original and select it.

With the bracket selected, right-click and choose Mirror -> Mirror Horizontally.

Use the Page Options button in the options toolbar in the top-left corner of the screen to change the page size to match the paper you’re using.

Move the brackets so they are completely inside the red margins of your drawing area and click the Send to Silhou-

ette button to begin cutting.

Click the Change Settings link and choose the heavy card-stock preset option.

Click the Send to Silhouette button at the bottom of the Cut Settings panel and then click the Cut Page link that appears.

For Advanced UsersIf you only have a small scrap of paper that you want to use, Silhouette Studio® can help you place your scrap on the cutting mat exactly where the blade will cut.

Click on the Page Options button in the options toolbar to display the page options. Set the page size to Letter (A4).

Click and drag the Reveal Carrier Sheet slider to make the page translucent so the grid on the cutting mat can be seen.

The grid on the screen matches the grid on Silhouette cutting mats. Use this grid to place your paper on the cutting mat in the same location as the design shown on the screen.

Press the Send to Silhouette button to begin cutting.
