Motivation• While ABS suffers a really heavy traffic load, apparently an active AMS having DL

traffic will not always be served by the ABS in every frame. That means in some consecutive frames, an active AMS might not have any DL traffic at all.

• Therefore, during the time period when AMS doesn’t have any DL/UL traffic, it still has to decode A-AMAP regions of those consecutive frames, consuming the additional computational power.

• This effect is obvious in delay-sensitive real-time service.

Simulation Result

• Traffic Model: Near real-time video streaming• Scheduling: Proportional Fair• 19 cells wrap-up• The percentage on the X-axi shows the average portion of the simulation time

(frame) when there’s no data traffic assignment for AMS.

System Parameter:10MHz,DL:UL=4:4PRU:18x648 PRU per subframe

Simulation Result

• Traffic Model: Near real-time video streaming• Scheduling: Proportional Fair• 19 cells wrap-up• The value on the y-axi shows the portion of the simulation time (frame) when

AMS could reduce the attempts of decoding A-AMAP regions.

Simulation Result

• Traffic Model: Near real-time video streaming + HTTP• Scheduling: Proportional Fair• 19 cells wrap-up• The value on the y-axi shows the portion of the simulation time (frame) which

reduces the unnecessary blind decoding.

Proposed Solutions• Motivation – Reduce the unnecessary A-AMAP region blind decode attempts• In the mean time, in order to minimize the system overhead, a 1-bit Traffic

Indication Index (TII) can be added into DL/UL Basic Assignment A-MAP to indicate that whether there’s no assignment to the AMS in all A-AMAP regions of the next frame.

• Hence, if the Traffic Indication Index shows “1” in nth frame, an active AMS has no need to decode the A-AMAP regions of the (n+1) th frame, and vice versa.

• Advantage– The signaling method making the minimum change to the A-A-MAP format provides the benefit of

significantly reducing the number of unnecessary blind decoding attempts for A-AMAP region, so that it can further reduce AMS power consumption.

Syntax Size in bits Description/Notes

Traffic Indication Index 1 No assignment in next consecutive frames including the current one.0b00: 0 frame0b01: 1 frames
