PRESS RELEASE
Signal Film Fest!
Signal Arts Centre with the support of 3e are delighted to announce the launch of Signal's first annual film competition. As ever Signal are constantly developing new ways to engage with the arts community both locally and further a field.
To this end we have decided to launch our film competition to encourage and support budding and amateur filmmakers. Due to the kind support of TV3 the winning entry will be shown by the nationally received channel 3e in May. We are also thrilled to announce that both Filmbase and Cine-‐Electric are offering prizes. Filmbase will present the top 3 entries with training vouchers and a membership and Cine-‐Electric are offering equipment hire, making this an exceptional prize for any film maker.
The shortlist screening will be held in the award winning Mermaid Arts Centre cinema on May 1st. Tickets are available from their website: www.mermaidartscentre.ie
We are currently accepting DVD only submissions of no longer than 12 minutes (to include credits). Submission outside the regulations cannot be considered. Each submission should be accompanied by a cheque or postal order with the submission fee of €5. If you would like your DVD return please include a SAE.

Terms & Conditions for entries to the Signal Film Fest 2012.
1. The finished film must be submitted to the Festival organisers no later than 5pm on Friday 30th March 2012. The maximum lm duration is 12 minutes, including the opening titles and credits -‐ films exceeding this duration will not be considered by the judges.
2. The ONLY format that entries will be accepted on is DVD. Please do not send master copies, as we cannot accept responsibility for the safety of the work. If you would like your work returned to you please include a suitable stamped self-‐addressed envelope but again Signal Arts Centre cannot accept responsibility for the safety of the work.
3. All footage submitted to the Signal Arts Film Fest may be used by Signal Arts Centre for promotional purposes in relation to the Film Fest or the Signal Arts Centre itself.
4. Any activity of or portrayal by each filmmaking team must not be illegal and/or bring the Festival and any of its sponsors and/or associates into disrepute.
5. A jury selected by Signal Arts Centre will decide on the winning entry. The jury's decision is final. The panel shall have the casting and deciding votes. Signal Arts Centre reserve the right to make final decisions on a film’s suitability to screen at the Screening event.
6. No cash alternative will be offered as a prize. The overall winning entry will be shown on 3e and the prize is non transferable.

7. Signal Arts Centre reserves the right to archive all shortlisted entries on their website for display purposes. All copyright remains with the stated owner of the film as entered on the application form. Signal Arts Centre accepts no responsibility for copyright issues resulting from the inclusion in the film fest. It is assumed in good faith that all entries will be honestly copyrighted and Signal Arts Centre will not be responsible or involved in disputes of a copyright nature.
8. The festival reserves the right to contact each individual/team for future Festival promotional purposes.
9. There is an entrance fee per film of €5. This fee is non-‐refundable. Once the application form is submitted, Signal will consider the entry as official entered for consideration in the Signal Film Fest and in compliance with the Signal Film Fest’s terms & conditions.
10. The festival reserves the right to amend these conditions up to the commencement of the Festival. All applications are subject to Signal Film Fest committee approval.
