Amanda Bolting, MGC

Academic Chair! Sigma Kappa Omega

is proud to announce that

sister Amanda Bolting has

become the newest

Multicultural Greek Council

Academic Chair. Elections were

held on September 20th at the

MGC meeting.

“At first I was very

cautious about voicing my

desire to be academic chair

because I knew there were so

many other people interested

in the position,” Amanda has

said, “however, it was the

support of my sisters in SKO

and even others in MGC who

convinced me to run”.

As committee chair,

Amanda plans to increase the

number of study hours each

organization must complete

each month, as well as

continue the MGC academic

scholarship in which she

helped create. “I am very

proud of all the progress the

committee has made and am

excited about the rest of the

semester to come”. This will be

Amanda’s

third semester on the MGC

academic committee.

Amanda joins two

other sisters who are also

MGC Committee chairs:

sister Krystina Christiansen,

rush and expansion chair,

and sister Joanne Iglesias,

internal chair.

This fall, the Sigma

Sweethearts have decided that an

increase in grade point average is

needed. Members must now

maintain a 2.3 GPA, replacing the old

standard of the 2.25 GPA

requirement. The Sigma Sweethearts

hope to raise this as time goes on.

Active members will now be required

to complete two study hours a week.

The Sigma Sweethearts have drafted

an academic philosophy with goals

including holding each member

responsible to retain and increase

their individual GPA and having one

of the top three sorority GPAs on

campus.

Another change that will

affect everybody is the change in

dues. Sigma Kappa Omega has

decided to raise active dues from

$175/semester to $200/semester.

Also, in order to be part of the

alumnae chapter, there will be

$40/semester alumnae dues. The

alumnae dues will go towards

alumnae events, such as the alumnae

BBQ in December.

Alumnae News! Alumna Ashley Crochet

“This year, the

Sigma

Sweethearts

have decided to

focus on

increasing SKO’s

academic

standing with

the philosophy

that academics

must ALWAYS

come first”
