Applications and Selection
GPA of 85% after two (2) quarters of osteopathic education
Members must maintain and average of 80% following induction
Primary application process occurs in the spring, secondary application process occurs in the fall.
Paper application is anonymous. Application evaluated based on service and leadership
Qualified applicants invited to interview with current members in order to assess interpersonal skills and passion for service

Balance as of 10/26/2009: $2264.04 Funds will be allocated to purchase new supplies for
the Dr. Bag program Membership Dues: $75/person National Dues: $35/person

January 8: Planning to have local physicians discuss opportunity for service after medical school
March 5: Sigma Sigma Phi 101 for Class of 2013 April 17: Induction of members representing the class of
2013

May 2nd, 2009: Clean up of the Thompson Campus Center.
Members came together to pick up garbage, clear the trails, and plant flowers around the Recreation Center.

September 26: Clean up of Forest Lake
Members joined the community Watershed Management organization to clean the area of Forest Lake to protect our park and water source

Dr. Bag program returns for another great year! Members visited local elementary schools and day
cares Local children learned about the instruments used
by doctors and nurses Children had the opportunity to ask questions and
share stories regarding their experiences with their doctor!
Veterans Drive
Collected toiletries and clothing for veterans
Items distributed to local vets through Veteran's Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Co-sponsored with AMOPS
Pre-medical Mentoring
In conjunction with ATSU-KCOM admissions and the Truman State University Pre-med advisors, our club is sponsoring a mentoring program
Pre-medical students can meet with current medical students to discuss application strategies
Our members are also available to discuss personal preferences (ex: taking a year off, earning a Master's degree first, pursuing research, etc)
Other service activities in the works...
Boy Scout Merit Badge program currently being investigated and organized by our Eagle Scout members
Special Olympics, coaching basketball teams Co-sponsoring a health screening and OMM treatments
for local pregnant women with Ob-Gyn club Co-sponsoring a health screening for local veterans with
AMOPS Ideas surrounding a social evening at Twin Pines Nursing
Home Donation of new (and better!) tourniquets for US Army
KCOM Club Fair
Executive Officers distributed information regarding the standards of Sigma Sigma Phi
Encouraged new students to participate in the myriad of service opportunities available
