Join us on Wednesday, August 6, Thursday, August 7, and Friday, August 8 for one of Burlington’s greatest traditions, the Downtown and Church Street Marketplace Annual Sidewalk Sale. Starting as early as 8 am., merchants display their wares both in front of and inside their stores. Great bargains abound and friends, neighbors and visitors to our region fill the Marketplace from dawn to dusk. Some merchants extend their sales through the weekend. This event receives media support from presenting sponsor, Free Press Media and the stations of Hall Communications (WOKO, KOOL 105, WJOY, The BUZZ and WIZN) and support from Casella Waste Management.

The Church Street Marketplace kicks off the Fall/Winter season with Thursday night concerts starting on August 28th on City Hall Block sponsored by Stowe Mountain Resort. Enjoy the series’ first performance by local super star, Joshua Panda, a blend of soul, country and rock, on Thursday, August 28 from 5pm-6:30pm and then Rick and the Ramblers the following Thursday, September 4. Weekly Thursday night performances will continue through September 25th while merchants feature special Sidewalk Sales and great bargains to shoppers!

Stowe brings its energetic and colorful presence to the street Thursday-Sunday through Columbus Day. Visit the Stowe booth located in front of Homeport for details on how to get a FREE Evolution Stowe Card as well as a chance to win a Stowe 7 Season Pass.

Continue skiing or snowboarding through winter, but make sure to be in Burlington for the Holidays, as they have never looked brighter! Fairpoint Communications joins us again as the Presenting Sponsor for the Santa Claus Parade and Holiday Lighting Ceremony and Show on November 28. This day long celebration of the holiday season begins as Santa arrives on the Marketplace greeted by thousands of eager children at noon. At 5:30pm., The Top Block hosts a musical celebration of “The Night Before Christmas,” and the annual miraculous lighting of the 50’ holiday tree. Up and down the Marketplace 250,000 tiny white lights illuminate the street. This treasured Vermont tradition also receives support from NewsChannel5 as they broadcast live from the event, Hall Communications, The Burlington Free Press and Casella Waste Management. ✹
