Ferdinand von Steinbeis 1807 - 1893
"You must focus on innovations and peopleif you wish to shape the future successfully."
The ideas of an entrepreneur, philosopher and shaper of the future.
Today, the name ‚Steinbeis‘ is associated with one of the most successful knowledge-transfer systems in the world. Our eponym Ferdinand von Steinbeis (1807-1893) applied his great talent and ingenuity to modernizing German industry during his era.
At the same time, he never forgot the entrepreneurial side of things. He successfully promoted business startups and was one of the first German industrialists to apply inspi-rations from other countries to his own work in order to develop international competitiveness.
Above all, however, his focus was on the people in compa-nies. He was a tireless proponent of investing in employee education and created one of the most modern training systems in the country.
Steinbeis was a man of action and a man of networked thinking – one of his approaches that remains innovative today is the duality of theory and practice during the ap-prenticeship period.
