innovation in wood
NATURAL SCIENCESpanning eight decades of research, Accoya® wood combines past and present scientific wood acetylation study with a proprietary production process to deliver reliable commercial-scale results.
In producing Accoya® wood, the chemical structure of the wood is modified from the surface to the core, providing a class leading durable and exceptionally stable product. Accoya® wood is fast becoming the material of choice for exterior applications and can be used for virtually anything, from windows to doors, decking to cladding and siding, and even for applications which were once only feasible with non-sustainable materials.
WELCOME TO THE FUTURE OF WOODImagine a solid wood that is sourced from fast-growing responsibly managed forests, has zero toxicity and provides dimensional stability and durability that exceeds even the best tropical hardwoods.
Imagine a wood that can replace increasingly scarce tropical hardwoods, treated woods and less sustainable materials in new and existing outdoor applications. Imagine a wood that will act as a better carbon sink during its extended life span and can be safely recycled at the end. Such a wood exists. It is Accoya®: the world’s leading high technology wood.

CLADDING, SIDING & FAÇADES
Accoya® wood is suitable for cladding, siding and façades and is the ideal choice where aesthetics and less frequent maintenance are critical. The dimensional stability and durability of Accoya® wood confirms a decreased overall life cycle cost. The dimensional stability also provides for more design flexibility on board width, thickness, joints and coating colours including black. The durability provides for an exceptional service life.
DECKING
In specifying decking, natural beauty, strength and all-weather performance are important. A lasting wood with outstanding performance characteristics and dimensional stability is desirably otherwise the wood and splinter or buckle and become a tripping hazard. It is also crucial that the wood is non-toxic and therefore safe for people and pets. Accoya® wood meets these requirements.
WINDOW FRAMES, DOORS & SHUTTERS Accoya® wood is naturally insulating and is more durable and dimensionally stable than other woods. This means windows do not swell when closed, doors continually open freely and shutters maintain their authentic beauty. Accoya® wood may be opaque, translucent or transparent coated, and its lower maintenance requirements increase its cost effectiveness.
OUTDOOR FURNITURE & EQUIPMENT
Accoya® wood is perfect for tables, chairs, tree houses, play sets, planters and landscaping timbers because it is non-toxic and able to withstand the rigors of different weather conditions and lasts at least 25 years in ground contact.
TRIED AND TESTEDAccoya® wood has been tested over prolonged periods in all types of weathering conditions — above ground, below ground and even in water for 20 years — and has been proven to withstand the toughest of external environments.
The exceptional durability and dimensional stability mean that Accoya® wood requires significantly less maintenance, because paints and stains stay where they belong: on the wood. In fact, test results between Accoya® wood and unmodified wood constantly prove that coatings last up to 3 times as long on Accoya® wood. Comprehensive use guides, certification documents, test reports and project examples can be found at accoya.com.

DIMENSIONALLY STABLE
The Accoya® advantage:
• Reduced swelling and risk of jamming in humid conditions• Better fitting windows and doors in all weathers• Less frequent coatings maintenance
Accoya® wood’s superior dimensional stability (resistance to swelling and shrinkage) exceeds all commonly used species, including Teak, Sapele and Iroko. Accoya® wood has been tested over prolonged periods in all types of weathering conditions - above ground, below ground and even in water - and has been proven to withstand even the toughest of external environments.

IDEAL FOR COATING
The Accoya® advantage:
• Potential for less frequent coatings maintenance• Cost savings during the life of the product• Environmental benefits during the life of the product• Wider range of colour and coatings options
Accoya® wood has shown improved coating lifetime performance with many types of coatings, resulting in extended maintenance intervals. The light colour of Accoya® wood allows for a wide range of colour finishes. Improved stability meansfilm-forming coating systems last up to two times longer. Accoya® wood is easier to coat, less preparation and sanding is required.

SUSTAINABLE CHOICE
The Accoya® advantage:
• Always sustainably sourced from abundantly available, often fast growing wood species
• Use phase advantages: increased life span, less maintenance, superior thermal insulation
• Non toxic and 100% recyclable – a perfect fit with the bio-cycle of the C2C philosophy
• CO² negative over the full life cycle
By significantly enhancing the durability and dimensional stability of fast growing, abundantly available certified wood species, Accoya® wood provides compelling environmental advantages over scarce slow growing hardwoods, woods treated with toxic chemicals, and non-renewable carbon-intensive materials such as plastics, steel and concrete.
