Financial Assistance
• You can receive a range of financial assistance via PolyU International Student Exchange Sponsorship and Exchange Grant to support your living costs during exchange studies overseas
• Such funding will be offered to all eligible applicants and the amount varies across programmes and institutions
• SHTM also provides additional scholarships for students with financial needs

Kwok Hospitality Award (only for SHTM)
Award Overview
• Established by the Kwok Scholars Association Limited (KSA) (郭氏學者協會有限公司) (founded by Dr. Walter Kwok), each year the Kwok Hospitality Awards will provide funding for up to TWO (2) exceptional undergraduate students from the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) to study at the School of Hotel Administration (SHA) of the Cornell University (Cornell) per academic year for one semester.

Award Description• Each award is available to a full-time government-
funded student from the Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Hotel Management or the BSc in Tourism and Events Management programmes offered by SHTM.
• The value of each Award is estimated to be HK$290,000, comprising mainly the following:– 100% of SHA tuition fees and health insurance premium
for one of the semesters in the academic year 2020/21; and
– A lump sum of HK$50,000 to cover the accommodation cost while at SHA for the semester, one economy return airfare between Hong Kong and New York, the USA, and US visa fee.

2020/21 Kwok Hospitality Award (for reference)
Eligibility Criteria• To be considered for a Kwok Hospitality Award, the applicant must:
– Be a Chinese and a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;
– Be at current second year full-time SHTM undergraduate student enrolled in the BSc (Hons) in Hotel Management or BSc (Hons) in Tourism Management. Award recipient will be in their third year of study when he or she undertakes the visit at SHA of Cornell;
– Achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above; – Fulfil Cornell’s English language proficiency requirements;– Have potential to be offered a place to study hospitality related courses at
SHA; and– Demonstrate a commitment to Hong Kong/China’s hospitality industry upon
graduation from PolyU and an interest in giving back to the Hong Kong society.
Terms and conditions of the Award– The Award recipient is required to attain a minimum GPA of 3.0 (B grade) or
above for the semester at Cornell. – He/she is required to return to Hong Kong to complete his/her study with
SHTM after the semester at Cornell.– He/she is required to submit a report to SHTM and KSA within one month
after the end of the semester in SHA.– The Award will not normally be held concurrently with other awards.

• All applications and relevant documents should be submitted to me via General Office.
• Group interviews will be scheduled during week 1 or week 2 of Sem 2 (tentative)

• Copy of your most recent academic transcript in English (showing your semester and cumulative GPA)
• Curriculum Vitae in English
• Results of English proficiency tests taken (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, etc.) if available
• Supporting statement (short essay of why you are applying for this exchange programme and the reasons for you to select the four preferred institutions)
• Copy of subject descriptions of the chosen courses from the four preferred exchange institutions

Student’s Responsibilities
Before Exchange Take care of application for exchange required by the host
university Submit your application form, the relevant supporting documents
required by the host institution, SHTM’s Learning Agreement, Exchange Study Plan, and PolyU’s Form AS41a to Ms Karen Ng(Office: TH711) before the specified deadline
Apply for the necessary visa, book the air tickets, arrange for insurance, and pack
Attend the briefing session organized by IAO
During Exchange Be a good ambassador for both SHTM and PolyU Study hard and play hard

Student’s Responsibilities
After Exchange• Obtain an official transcript from your host institution and submit it to
SHTM to process credit transfer.• Submit a 1-minute video and 3 photos about your exchange experience.• Submit the post-exchange reflection report.
