Potentate’s MessageNobles & Ladies:

Lady Susan and I would like to thank you for a memo-rable, fun and exciting 2014! It would not have been pos-sible without the dedication and support of the large contingent of Nobles, La-dies, fraternal Brothers and Sisters and friends who were there all along the way.

It began with the Winter Ceremonial with a surprise

visit by Miss Nicole Dunn who was my inspiration and an An-gel that I had met 9 years earlier that start-ed me on this journey and presented me my Potentate’s gavel as I began my final turn on this pathway.

The first Sudan Shiners Smoke on the River BBQ cook-off rose from the embers

in September, on the beautiful Neuse River. The event was a great success and will doubtless continue for years to come. Congratulations again to the Sudan Cooligans, Sudan Van Patrol and Wilson County Shrine Cub who placed amongst tough competition. This dream became realit y thanks to Arthur Broome (Chef Crew) and Steve Marshburn (Van Pa-trol).

This annual pilgrimage to the Masonic Homecoming Festival in Oxford began with a dinner attended by the NC Shrine Divans and our NC Grand Lodge officers to meet their counterparts and continue the strong fraternal relation-ship we all enjoy in our state. Sudan converged on the area and was there in strength with the greatest number of shrine units performing for the communit y.

The Fall Ceremonial; what a part y to close out 2014 by going Loco in JoCo. The Johnston County Shrine Clubs No-bles and Ladies went all out with the hospitalit y and planned events at HQ and The Farm. Thank you to our Sudan clubs and units that cooked many great delicacies in 30 degree temperatures at the Friday casual night. It was definitely a hit complemented by music and karaoke provided by one of the local DJ celebrities. Saturday hospitalit y events and Too Much Sylvia were Too Much (fun)! Fayetteville Shrine Club presented a beautiful van to add to our transportation fleet. It will be another gathering that will never be forgot-ten! Thanks to our ceremonial chairman Larry Barnes, Lady

Lacey, Johnston County Nobles and Ladies and the Animat-ed Animals. The very next weekend, the Animated Animals traveled to Burlington, NC and represented Sudan in Am-ran’s Fall Ceremonial parade held in conjunction with the civic Christmas parade.

Miss Addison Davis is our 2014 Shrine Bowl Queen and her recent coronation at her school was a heartwarm-ing experience which created a lot of excitement with her classmates, school staff and of course local Shriners. Plan to attend the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas on December 20th when she is escorted on the field at Gibbs Stadium-Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. If you would like to participate as a volunteer please call our business office for the contact information.

A special thank you to:• Our office and temple staff for their dedication, friendly

and professional service.• Sudan Divan & Trustees for their leadership, expertise

and unselfish contribution of time and support to our temple and philanthropy. I’ll never forget the cell phone calls and raised watches while speaking at the podiums.

• The 2014 Ceremonial Chairmen, Committee members, Clubs, Units, Members, Masons and Ladies that put on unforgettable ceremonials that will forever be in all of our thoughts and conversations.

• Closer to Home - Arab Shrine Club, Sudan Drum & Bugle Corps, Shriners Choo Choo, Ladies of the Arab Shrine Club, Brunswick County Shrine Club, Sudan Thunderbolts, Pender County Shrine Club, Duplin County Shrine Club, Sudan Van Patrol, Brothers and Sisters of the Order of the Eastern Star of NC, the Fire-balls and all who assisted in many ways throughout this and past years.

• All Sudan Shriners Nobles and Ladies. All clubs and units that participated in the hospitalit y at the casual night celebrations.

• Illustrious Sir Roland Britt, First Lady Jamie, Amran

Recorder’s MessageBest wishes to all for a

prosperous and Happy New Year. The 2014 shrine year moved along at a rapid pace and we are now about to start our 99th year as Sudan Shriners. We have had a good year because we have helped many new patients and been able to raise those much needed funds, not only for Shriners Hospitals for Children, but also funds

needed to transport the children to SHC’s. We were fortu-nate enough this year to buy another hospital van for our Roadrunners and thanks go to the Fayetteville Shrine Club, which presented a van at the November Ceremonial. Go to our website and check out the color scheme on that vehicle.

Johnston County Shrine Club put on a fantastic Fall Ceremonial. Congratulations and kudos to Noble Larry Barnes and all the ladies and nobles. The entire weekend was extremely well planned. The hard work in preparation did not go unnoticed.

Units and clubs activities have filled the calendar throughout the year. Your work in the months of October, November and December saw the bulk of the charitable fun-draisers. The 85 parades conducted from December 1 – 15 saw a total of 185 units participating. Some of the larger parades had 7 and 8 Sudan units. This continues to be one of best public relations efforts in broadcasting our SHC’s.

The Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas will have been played by the time this is published and the winner again as in years past will be the children. Don’t forget to honor these young men who were selected to play in this prestigious game, by inviting them and their family to your clubs.

We have not done well in our new membership and resto-ration of old members. At the time of this message we have 203 NPD’s, 135 deaths with only 72 new Nobles created for the year. Every one of us has to work on new nobles. We fell this year to below 5000 in members for the first time in many years. We have just about any t ype of trade or profes-sion in our membership but we have not yet conquered and found the answer to attract Qualit y Masons to become Qual-it y Shriners.

As we move into 2015 and new officers take office, please give us an update on your Public Relations Representative. This program is working extremely well but we need to main-tain continuit y to keep our nobilit y up to date with informa-tion. Thanks to all of our PR nobles we have now for your hard work.

My first year as your Recorder has been rewarding. I would like to thank everyone who has assisted me, given me guidance and made this a very enjoyable experience. Please make every effort to attend your Blue Lodge and God Bless you all as we work to make “Love to the Rescue” a realit y.

Yours in Faith,

George L. Raecher, Recorder

Divan and their Ladies for the many hours of fun and fellowship.

• Noble John Collins – Potentate’s Chief Aid for the many miles, smiles and stories and his Lady Diane.

• To my wife, Lady Susan, whose involvement, support and love was 24 hours a day. Her inspiration is contagious!

We wish the best to our Potentate-Elect Jerry Tillett and Lady Tanya in 2015. To Outer Guard, Lou Smith and Lady Pat, we wish you an exciting journey, thank you for your sup-port and enjoy the ride. It has been an honor and a privilege for me and Susan to serve Sudan Shriners as your Potentate and First Lady.

Thanks for the memories!

A President’s Message & Membership

The following was published by the Wilson County Shrine Club President, Noble Alan Winstead. It con-tains some very important words and thoughts to ponder as we all work on our membership initiative our mem-bership goals for this year are below what we projected. At the time of this article we still have 200 NPD’s with an additional 135 falling to the Black Camel. As you may recall, we want new members but we need Qualit y Masons to become Qualit y Shriners. Let’s not sacrifice less than a Qualit y Mason just to attain a number goal. I would think every Sudan Shrine Club could find at least one Qualit y Mason for the January 2015 Winter Ceremonial. As your Recorder I emphatically believe in the following.

“A 1938 Life magazine article described the Shriners as “among secret lodges the No. 1 in prestige, wealth and show”, and stated that “in the t ypical cit y especially

in the Middle West, the Shriners will include most of the prominent citizens. The Shriners are committed to communit y service and have been instrumental in countless public projects throughout their domain. “Be-ing a Shriner is a privilege, not a Masonic right. Too of-ten Nobles forget that they are supposed to be pillars in their communities. Nobles of the Shrine should donate not just money but time and energy o the improvement of their communit y and the world. Giving time, talent and funds helps the communit y and the world, more so it improves the Noble. Our Fraternit y has a rich history of great Nobles; do not besmirch the fraternit y with unethical or immoral activities. Leave no doubt as to your standing in the communit y by avoiding activit y that may be deemed unsavory. Spend your time with upstanding members of our communit y not those of questionable backgrounds. We are the living examples of Shrinedom. As such we must conduct our lives to be the example that Masons and non-Masons want to emulate. Thank you Noble Alan for these words.

Shrine Club Celebrates 20th The South Brunswick Islands Shrine Club cele-

brated its 20th anniversary this year. They were char-tered on October 12, 1994. The original petition to charter lists 36 names. By the 10th anniversary the membership grew to 157 members.

Initially, meetings were held in borrowed space such as the Lion’s Paw Club House or the Elk’s Lodge. Noble Frank Somersett offered his garage for the meeting place and it became the “home” of the club.

In 1999, a lot was purchased from Noble William (Billy) and Jean Russ at 4911 Old Shallotte Rd, which today is the home of the club. The Russ family later returned the purchase price of the land and has re-cently been recognized for their generosit y. Ground was broken in 2000 and the first meeting in the build-ing was held in 2001. That meeting was hastily sched-uled because some shrine dignitaries wanted to see the new club. The only problem was no electricit y in the building so the club was decorated with drop cords.

The SBISC is very proud of the fact that two no-bles have served as the Potentate of Sudan Shriners. PP Albert Parker in 1988 and PP Steve Norris in 2012.

The SBISC has three important bodies. First, the Shrinette ladies who support the club with day-to-day activities. The Sudan Daredevils were chartered in 2004 and the Hillbillies #2 in January 2009. Both units are very active in parades and fundraising activi-ties.

Today 29 children in the Brunswick County area are being treated at our SHC.

Shriners International Shriner of the Month – Egypt & Sudan

MemberNoble Winford “Wink” Dillard a member of Egypt

Shriners in Lakeland, Florida was selected as “Shriner of the Month” – October 2014 by Shriners Internation-al. His photo and a short story on his selection can be found in Shriners Village. There is a little twist to go along with this story. Noble “Wink” as he is known, was created here in Sudan in 1998. He moved to Lake-land in 2005 and became a member of Egypt Shriners in Tampa. He was actually submitted for this prestigious award for his dedication and hard work for the hospital and the fraternit y, just like he did when he lived here. Noble Wink has maintained his Sudan membership. He was a member of Wayne Shrine Club, the Sudan Mini Rigs and is the Past Master of Goldsboro Lodge #634 in Goldsboro in 2002. Congratulations “Wink” from all of us Sudan Nobles!

Pizazz Band

With over 115 years combined experience enter-taining crowds across the nation, the Pizazz Band is one of the finest bands in the cover music industry with an emphasis on excellence! The Pizazz Band siz-zles with the energy that pounds your heart and gets your body and feet moving with Soul, Funk, Beach, Country and Rock. You will lose yourself in the romantic soulful voice of Lead Man Kent Zimmer-man and melt to your knees with Mark Davidson’s gravelly, smokey vocals and fluid guitar. The master of the keys, Steve Edmunds (aka) Mr. Wonderful is always putting some soul in it. Chip “Barefootin” Johnson keeps the beat going alive in your head with the pounding and finesse of the drums. With over 30+ years of experience, Kenny Hancock is consid-ered to be one of the best bassists on the east coast and will groove your soul into a trance. The Pizazz Band is Honored to perform for Sudan Shriners, a Fantastic Organization!

SoulShine Band

Wilmington’s SoulShine traces its origins back to Hoggard High School where the members, all Port Cit y natives, were classmates. Davie Waggett (vocals and percussion), Donald Smith (drums) and Rick McDuffie (guitar) were all members of the award-winning Grade VI Symphonic Band at Hog-gard. Donald and Davie were simultaneously travel-ing a parallel rock and roll track with Rick Howell (bass) in bands like Night Drive, Croatan and Lush, while Rick McDuffie was covering the high-societ y gigs with Pendulum and The Ethics. Davie did a stint on drums with Nantucket and Rick Howell played for a time with a later version of The Grass Roots. College, career and child-rearing kept the boys from pursuing full time music careers, but they found time to keep playing and honing their music skills through the years. Along the way they have shared the stage, individually, with The Char-lie Daniels Band, Exile, Goose Creek Symphony and The Kentucky Headhunters, among others. These good friends reunited in 2013, along with keyboardist (and fellow Hoggard alum) Tony Greer, to form SoulShine.

SoulShine is made up of five guys who are true “soul brothers”- they love each other, their audienc-es, and they’re excited about what they do! Whether you love soul, beach, Motown, classic rock or “all of the above”, SoulShine can deliver it, with a punch!

Meet Our 2014-15 National Patient Ambassadors

Joe Dertinger of Waconia, Minn., and Katie Ladlie of Troy, Mo., have been selected as the health care system’s national patient ambassadors for 2014- 2015. The announcement was made after the premiere of their video, “Born to Inspire” during the July 2014 Imperial Session of Shriners International in Minneapolis.

Every year, Shriners Hospitals for Children® chooses two national patient ambassadors to represent the thousands of children who receive care at the health care system every year. The Ambassadors share their stories to inspire others and raise awareness of Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Joe: A Champion SkierJoe was born with an unusual condition that involved all four of his extremities. He had a short tibia and no fibula on his right leg, and only three toes on his right foot. His left ankle has an unusual “ball and socket” type of joint. He was also born with only two fingers and a thumb on each hand, and the fingers on the right hand were webbed together.

At our Twin Cities hospital, Joe was initially seen by an orthopaedic surgeon and a hand specialist, who recommended surgeries to separate the fingers on his right hand and amputation of the right foot so that a prosthesis would fit better. Over time, Joe received physical and occupational therapy at Shriners Hospitals for Children, combined with lots of encouragement. That, and having a twin sister to keep up with, helped Joe continue to make progress.

Joe, now 18, has been involved in adaptive skiing for many years. In the last two seasons at the national competition in Park City, Utah, Joe has won the Men’s Junior National overall Alpine Skiing title. He is currently training for the Giant Slalom World Cup and the 2018 winter Paralympic games, which will be held in South Korea.

While Joe is passionate about his sport, he also wants to give back and help others with similar conditions and has enrolled in Century College’s Prosthetics Technology program; he is set to start in the fall of 2014.

Katie: An inspiration to OthersRelatively quickly after her birth, Katie was diagnosed as having a vascular malformation, a very

rare condition. She has been a patient at our St. Louis hospital since she was 2 years old.

Katie struggled with severe knee pain and other difficulties for years. By the time she was 12 years old, her knee had deteriorated to the point that her physicians gave her two options, knee fusion or amputation above the knee. Young Katie bravely determined to have the amputation as this would free her from the pain and from the anchor that held her back, which is how she viewed her leg.

Shortly after the surgery, Katie was introduced to adaptive sports, which was a turning point. She became very active and is no longer sitting on the sidelines in pain. And then she discovered public speaking, and became a patient ambassador for our St. Louis hospital.

Katie, now 16, hopes to be able to give back and inspire others through her new role as a national patient ambassador.

We know that both Katie and Joe will do exactly that in the coming months.

Erin’s Story

Erin Davis Tennant was born on October 10, 2007 with spina bifida (tethered cord). She underwent her first surgical procedure at five weeks old to remove the fatt y tissue, attached to her cord, preventing normal growth. This surgery was performed at Duke Children’s Hospital and was a success. Erin had no other problems, until she turned three years old when her left foot start-ed turning inward. Doctors at Duke tried to straighten Erin’s foot, but the surgery did not work, and her foot kept turning inward even further.

After much prayer, Erin’s Dad was working on a job, which had him cross paths with a local Sudan Shriner, Cleveland Woolard. Cleve was told about Erin’s issue, and made a single phone call. With that one call she had an appointment the next week at Shriners Hospitals for Children - Greenville, with Dr. Peter Stasikelis. Dr. Pete told us up front, surgeons can only do so much, and often cannot undo what the greatest physician has made. The surgery went better than expected. Today, Erin needs a brace, but has a straight foot, all thanks to the Sudan Shriners and the wonderful people at SHC in Greenville, SC.

In between surgeries, Erin was often confined to a wheelchair, or on crutches. This didn’t slow her down though. Erin’s church sponsors UpWard Soccer, an or-ganization, which ironically is located, near Greenville, SC. At first we were not sure about letting Erin play soccer, with crutches, but the Upward leader thought it would be fine. Erin turned out to be the team’s leading scorer. Upward Sports is faith based and when coaches asked the children at one practice, what they were thank-ful for, Erin’s response was, “I’m thankful for my leg”.

We are all very thankful for God and Sudan Shri-ners, Dr. Pete, and the nurses and staff at Shriners Hos-pitals for Children - Greenville, South Carolina.

Smoke On The River 2014

On the night of September 26 and 27th there were some really good odors down near the river. Sudan’s 1st annual “Smoke on the River” was a total success. Eleven Teams from around Sudan competed for the honors of having the Best of the Best in Barbeque. Three impartial judges labored over the entries, tasted a lot of barbeque and made their rulings. First Place went to the Sudan Cooli-gans from New Bern, 2nd Place to the Van Patrol from Onslow County Shrine Club and 3rd Place to the Wilson County Shrine Club. The all night event saw some really serious work and great fel-lowship shared by the nobles and their ladies as they worked hard on their product. The event was very well attended and a lot of plates were sold. I would venture to say that “Smoke on the River” might just happen again next year! Thanks go out to Noble Arthur Broome, Chef’s Crew Director and his group for managing and organizing this fundraiser.

SHRINE FUNDRAISING

POLICIES & PROCEDURESSHRINE FUNDRAISING

INTRODUCTIONBecause Shriners have been the driving force behind Shriners

Hospitals for Children, it has become natural to associate the Fez with this charity. However, the Shrine of North America and Shriners Hospitals are separate and distinct legal corporations.

Shriners Hospitals for Children is incorporated in the state of Colorado, and it operates 22 hospitals. Its purpose is to provide medical care to children with disabilities without regard to race, creed, sect or nationality. The treatment for the children is provided at no cost. This is the Charitable corporation.

The Shrine of North America is incorporated in the state of Iowa, and it presently has 195 unincorporated fraternal associations in Canada, Mexico, the United States and Republic of Panama. We know them as Shrine Temples. This is the Fraternal corporation.

A study done by Shriners International Headquarters found that Shrine Temples conduct more than 2,000 fundraising activities annually. Many of these fundraisers are strictly for the Temples – and this is perfectly acceptable. Other fundraising activities are for the benefit of Shriners Hospitals for Children – and this is also perfectly acceptable.

However, the individual purchasing a ticket, product, etc., or the donor, should be advised, in advance, how the proceeds will be used. This pamphlet is intended to provide guidance to the Temples, units, clubs and Nobles in their fundraising activities so there can be no criticism directed at them that the solicitation did not conform to the requirements of the law or was deceptive or misleading.

TYPES OF FUNDRAISERSThere are two types of Shrine fundraisers – Charitable and

Fraternal.CHARITABLE FUNDRAISERS – Where 100 percent of the net proceeds benefit Shriners Hospitals for Children.FRATERNAL FUNDRAISERS – Where the net proceeds benefit the Temple, which in turn may distribute them as it sees fit. For example, profits may be disbursed to the Temple general fund, a building fund, to clubs and/or units, to Shriners Hospitals for Children, to local community or Masonic related projects (DeMolay, Masonic Home, etc.) or any combination thereof.

PROCEDURES THAT APPLY TO ALL SHRINE FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES

All fundraising must comply with the law of the land; that is, the law of the jurisdiction where the activity takes place. This includes national, state or province, and local laws.

The use of the name Shriners Hospitals is governed by §503.10 of the bylaws of Shriners Hospitals.

All fundraising is governed by General Orders as may be issued on that subject by the Imperial Potentate.

Insurance. Your attention is particularly called to that portion of the existing General Order #1 pertaining to insurance. Strict compliance is required. All contracts must be reviewed and

approved by the Temple Potentate after receiving the advice of the Temple attorney.

All fundraising promotional materials (including Temple publications) must include a statement indicating the major entity benefited by the funds [Statement of Purpose].STATEMENTS OF PURPOSEAll fundraising promotional materials must contain a STATEMENT OF PURPOSE. Below are examples for each type of fundraising activity.FOR CHARITABLE FUNDRAISERS:“Net proceeds from this (activity, event, etc.) are for the benefit of Shriners Hospitals for Children.”FOR FRATERNAL FUNDRAISERS:“Net proceeds from this (activity, event, etc.) are for the benefit of XYZ Temple/Unit/Shrine Club.”DISCLOSURE (for Fraternal fundraisers) “Payments are not deductible as charitable contributions.”NOTE: All fraternal fundraising materials must include both the statement of purpose and disclosure.CHARITABLE FUNDRAISERS

It should be emphasized at this point that a Noble (in his capacity as a Shriner), a Shrine Temple/club/unit, an organization of Nobles, or affiliated/appendant corporations SHALL NOT engage in any charitable fundraising effort other than for the benefit of Shriners Hospitals for Children.

When a decision is made to conduct a charitable fundraiser, the responsible Noble (club/unit president, committee chairman, etc...) must submit a written request to the Temple Potentate having jurisdiction thereof. If he approves, the Potentate must then obtain the written consent of the Imperial Potentate and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. This request shall be sent to the Executive Vice President – Imperial Council, Shriners International Headquarters, P.O. Box 31356, Tampa, Florida 33631-3356. Final approval for a charitable fundraising activity is effective upon the Temple’s receipt of a Charity Activity Form. If a request is denied by the Imperial Potentate and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, the Temple Potentate will receive a full explanation in writing.

One hundred percent of the net proceeds from charitable fundraisers must be given to Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Expenses for operating the event must be actual, and no labor charges can be made for volunteer work by Shriners and/or their families.

Under certain conditions, existing General Orders allow the use of a portion of funds raised for the hospitals to be used for patient transportation.

All solicitation materials, tickets, programs and documents must include factual information (Statement of Purpose) regarding use of the proceeds.

Information about our hospitals (obtainable from the Impe-rial Public Relations Department), such as patient success stories, facts and figures, photos or other appropriate material, may be used in programs for charitable fundraisers.

Page 24: Shriners Red Fez

22January 2015 Red Fez

The Temple shall report the results of each charitable fund-raising activity within 60 days of the activity to Shriners Hospi-tals for Children on the Charity Activity Form provided to the Temple. A Temple that fails to remit the net proceeds within 60 days of the activity shall be assessed interest retroactive to the date of the activity.

The Temple shall maintain detailed financial records of all fundraising activities involving Nobles, clubs, units, organiza-tions of Nobles or affiliated / appendant corporations for a period of seven years. Details of all revenues and disbursements shall be maintained in such financial records.State Solicitation Laws: Some states have solicitation laws that may require Shrine compliance. Temples must have their at-torney review such laws. By way of example, the State of Florida requires that the following statement be included in all printed solicitation materials, receipts, written confirmation, or remind-ers of contributions soliciting charitable contributions for Shri-ners Hospitals. The statement must be conspicuously displayed in all capital letters.SHRINERS HOSPITALS FOR CHILDREN ARE DULY REG-ISTERED WITH THE STATE OF FLORIDA AS REQUIRED BY ITS SOLICITATION OF CONTRIBUTIONS ACT. THEIR REGISTRATION NUMBER IS CH 433. A COPY OF THE OFFICIAL REGISTRATION AND FINANCIAL INFORMA-TION MAY BE OBTAINED FROM THE DIVISION OF CON-SUMER SERVICES BY CALLING TOLL-FREE 1-800-435-7352 WITHIN THE STATE. REGISTRATION DOES NOT IMPLY ENDORSEMENT, APPROVAL OR RECOMMENDA-TION BY THE STATE.

FRATERNAL FUNDRAISERSA Noble (in his capacity as a Shriner), or a Shrine Temple/

club/unit, or an organization of Nobles or affiliated/ appendant corporations must obtain the prior written consent of the Temple Potentate having jurisdiction thereof before engaging in any fun-draising activity.

There can be no representation, express or implied, that the proceeds will be for the benefit of Shriners Hospitals for Children.

When the Potentate gives his written consent for a fraternal fundraising activity, a copy of the same shall be mailed to the Ex-ecutive Vice President – Imperial Council. Further, any printed materials pertaining to the fundraising activity shall be sent to Executive Vice President, Imperial Council if so requested.

All promotional material, tickets, programs and documents must contain a Statement of Purpose and Disclosure.

Information about our hospitals may be used in programs for fraternal fundraisers provided that each contains the appropriate Statement of Purpose and Disclosure.

This information must appear in conspicuous location used lettering bold enough to be easily read. Programs and other ‘book-let’ type materials must include the Statement of Purpose and

Disclosure on the front cover or the first page. The Statement of Purpose and Disclosure should also be included as a part of each fundraising activity advertised in Temple publications.

The Temple shall maintain detailed financial records of all fundraising activities involving Nobles, clubs, units, and organi-zations, of Nobles or affiliated/appendant corporations for a peri-od of seven years. Details of all revenues and disbursements shall be maintained in such financial records.

THE “RED FEZ” MAGAZINEThe Sudan Shriners “Red Fez” magazine is a quarterly publication intended to

keep the Nobility, their families and interested friends informed of upcoming events, announcements, and news from Sudan Shriners, clubs, and units.

With a renewed commitment to keep all members informed, the Potentate, Sudan Divan, and Sudan office personnel strive to provide timely information distributed through Website updates at www.sudanshriners.com in addition to this publication.

We welcome article and photo submissions from all Sudan members, clubs, and units with assurance that with space permitting and publishable photographs attached, you can expect to see your material published on either the Website or in the “Red Fez”. Submissions will be subject to rewrites or modification to insure journalistic accuracy, timeliness, and proper style.

With a rich rewarding history to relish and help compose, Sudan Shriners will continue to provide you, the individual member, club or unit, outlets to share with others, your experiences in your Shrine journey.

The results of your labors are evident in the number of children who have so much more than they might have had otherwise, through your support of the Shriners Hospitals for Children. Be proud that you wear the Red Fez of a Sudan Shriner!

Submit material for the “Red Fez” to Sudan Shriners, 403 E. Front St., New Bern, NC 28560. Submit material for Sudan’s website to: [email protected]. Office: 252-637-5197 Fax: 252-637-9935 Toll Free: 800-697-5197.
