4 Education & Training
A 3-Day Workshop on Recent Trends in Thermal Engineering:
The department organized a three-day
workshop on “Recent Trends in Thermal
Engineering” under TEQIP-II from 28th
to 30th July 2016. The event was
conducted in the CAD Lab. 45 faculty
memebers from various institutions
participated in this workshop. The
resource persons were Prof.
B.V.S.S.S. Prasad IIT Madra,s Dr. K.N
Malleswara Rao, VRSEC and Sri.V.F.
Saji, Scientist D, NSTL. The work-shop
was formally inaugurated on 28th
July,2016. While Dr.G. Srinivasa Rao,
Principal, SVECW gave a brief overview
The Department organized a five-day
workshop on “Research Techniques for
Mechanical Engineering with Hands-on
Experience” under TEQIP-II from 23rdto
27thAugust 2016. This five-day
Workshop aimed at enriching skills of
faculty and researchers with the state-of-
the-art information on the modeling and
experimental design techniques in the
thrust areas of Mechanical Engineering.
This was mainly to inculcate research
interest in the said areas. The speakers
were Dr. M. J. Davidson, Dr. K Subbu,
and importance of current advances of research and knowledge of solving real life and industrial
problems. Dr. P. Srinivasa Raju, HOD -Department of Mechanical Engineering gave a welcome
address to all the participants and talked about the usefulness of work shop on recent trends in
thermal engineering.
A 5-Day Workshop on Research Techniques for Mechanical
Engineering with Hands-on Experience
Dr. V. Hari Kumar from NIT, Warangal and Dr. T. Srinivas from VIT, Vellore. The
manufacturing industry is aiming at producing quality and economical products. This process
depends on many parameters and intermediate correlations. New and innovative procedures
need to be developed to meet the demands and needs of the customer and industry. The
optimization techniques have become powerful tool for the continuous improvement of quality
in production. This was the reason why the workshop was conducted.
Faculty attended Workshops:
Mr.G.Rama Krishna attended a one week FDP on "Equilibrium and Phase Transformation
of Metallic Alloys", at IIT Hyderabad from 17th to 23rd July, 2016.
Mr.K.Ashok Kumar & Mr.P. Rohith Reddy attended a five-day short term course on
"CAD-CAM application in CNC machining", at IIT Kharagpur from 29thAugust to 2nd

subsequently fed into a pan mill. The output of the pan mill is stored in vertical silos. The
mixture is now ready for pressing tiles. The pressed tiles are stacked on the kiln car in a stack
of 3 feet height and dried by using hot waste air from the kiln. The tiles are dried for 20 hrs.
The dried tiles are pushed along with the kiln car and allowed for firing for 20 hours. The
outputs are known as biscuits. Ceramic glazed tiles are made of porous body with a coating of
white or coloured glaze. These are used extensively in the bathrooms, kitchen in modern
buildings and in hospitals and analytical laboratories, Toiletries attached to railway platforms.
This is because of the properties of this products. They have the ability to resistance to
weather and chemicals, having high strength, hard, glossy surface with different colours and
pleasing appearance.
20 students of IV Mechanical Engineering attended
placement's Training Program on 22nd to 31st August 2016.
Ms. A.Sudha, Ms.K.N .S. V. Kamala , Ms.R. Puja Thulasi
and Ms.T. Venu Madhuri placed in John Deer.
Ms.K . Kusumanjali and Ms.R. Ravalee Kanthi placed in Thermax.
Ms.Y. Sai Prasanna placed in Tech Mahindra.
