Biotechnology Department On 28 September 2018, the department has organized a seminar for B.Sc. I year students. The speaker, Dr. Sheetal Bhasin, Head, Department of Biosciences, MRSC, Indore, delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Actinobacteria. The lecture covered various aspects of Actinobacterium like growth parameter, characteristics, applications etc. A lecture on ‘Artificial insemination’ was arranged for B.Sc. students. Dr. Sandeep Nanavati, Prof., Veterinary College, MHOW was invited as the speaker. He gave information about artificial insemination in buffaloes. A seminar on the topic ‘Biochemistry’ covering general aspects of biochemistry as a part of the curriculum was organized for B.Sc. II year students. It was conducted by Dr. Jyoti Dave, Head, Department of Biotechnology, Cloth Market Girls College, Indore on 6/10/2018.

The department organized a guest lecture on Conservation of Natural Resources for UG and PG students on 04-12-2018. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Gunwant Joshi, retd. Senior Scientist, Pollution Control Board, Bhopal. A guest lecture by Dr. Sanjay Singh Professor, Inorganic Chemistry IIT, Indore was arranged for PG students on 21-12-2018. M.Sc. I sem. and III sem. Chemistry students attended a lecture organized by Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya, Indore and also visited the Textile Department on 18-12-2018 along with Dr. Ketan Topiwala and Ms. Rashmi Sharma. Pre-Ph.D. viva-voce of Ms. Neha Jatav was held in the department on 10-12-2018. Her supervisor is Dr. Kumud Modi. Smt. Pragna Desai was the Presiding Officer in Vidhan Sabha elections. She was invited as judge in the science exhibition organized by RRMB Boys School, Indore on 11-12-2018.

Dr. Dhananjay Dwivedi published a paper on “Phytochemical screening of withania somnifera leaf extract in different solvents” in International Journal of Advanced Research and review IJARR, 3(12), 2018;13-16. He was invited by SRJ College, Sanawad for a guest lecture on Symmetry and Group Theory to PG students on 01-12-2018. Dr. Dhananjay Dwivedi attended a National seminar on Recent Trends in Basic Sciences on 3 - 4 October 2018 organized by Holkar Science College, Indore. Dr. Vandana Sharma presented a poster in the same. Dr. Rishina Natu was one of the core speakers in a talk show on ‘Women Empowerment’ organized by Maheshwari College, Indore. She was invited by DAVV, School of Journalism in the programme ‘Baate Mulakate’ in which she presented a solo talk on Amrita Pritam and Imroz. Dr. Natu conducted a workshop “Jeevan Mulya evam Prabandhan” organized by Old GDC College where she performed on ‘Meera se Radha tak Prem’ and also delivered a talk. Dr. Rishina Natu mentors 65 girls from remote areas of Jeevan Umang Ashram, Bicholi Mardana in classical dance, art and craft, and culinary art. The girls performed Raam Vandana and Maa Bharti Aarti in Guruji Sewa Nyas.

Chemistry Department

Under the UG Development Programme, the department organized a poster-making competition on 5 October 2018 on the topic “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle”. The judges were Dr. G.D. Sharma and Mrs. Mahima Golani. The winners were as follows: Sakina Kannodwala BT-2 (I) Prize, Kanak Khanderia MB-5 (II) Prize. A student seminar for B.Sc. V semester was held in the month of October. Student of BT-5 Ms. Avani Muley made an audio-visual presentation. Ms. Priya Trivedi was in-charge of this activity. Pre-Ph.D. presentation of Ms. Krati Ghavri was held on 9 October 2018 in the department. Her supervisor is Dr. Madhavi Adhav. The title of her thesis is “Comparative Phytochemical and Anatomical Studies on Morphotype of Thevetia Peruviona”. The department organized a parent- teacher meeting for M.Sc. students on 9 October 2018 in order to interact with parents. Dr. J. Sikka, Head of Botany Department addressed the meeting and talked about various departmental activities and previous year results. Parents and guardians of students who attended the meeting gave their suggestions. Students discussed their academic and general problems with teachers. An expert lecture for M.Sc. students was arranged in the month of October. The speaker Dr. O.P. Joshi, Ex Principal of the college delivered an informative lecture. Dr. Madhavi Adhav, Dr. Preeti Parashar, Ms. Priya Trivedi and Dr. Manjeet Arora attended a one day national seminar on “Recent Trends in Protein Structure and Function” on 27 October 2018 organized by School of Life Science DAVV, Indore.

Electronics Department To boost academic performance of students, the department organized a workshop on Hardware and Networking for B.Sc. and BCA students by Mr. Sanjay Vyas, Director Hardware Technology Park, Indore from 22/10/2018 to 02/11/2018. In the above workshop 58 students from different departments actively participated. Participants were given certificates by the college Chairman and Principal on completion of the workshop.

Dr. Nandini Phanse, Ms. Kiran Paliwal and Ms. Vartika Mishra presented papers at the MPCST sponsored National Seminar on “Recent Trends in Basic Sciences” organized by Holkar Science College (3-4 October 2018). M.Sc. Microbiology students, Namrata Chouhan, Surbhi Porwal performed a project under the guidance of Dr. Phanse and presented it at the seminar. Dr. Phanse attended a webinar on “Nanobiotechnology” (15.10.18). M.Sc. students and faculties were also benefitted by virtual lectures of the webinar. Dr. Phanse and Ms. Mahima Golani adjudged poster competitions organized in college. Dr. Phanse, Ms. Golani, Ms. Paliwal, Ms. Khandelwal, Ms. Dehure and M.Sc. students attended National seminar on “Recent trends in protein structure and function” organized by SLS, DAVV (27.10.18). Joy of Giving week was observed from 2-8 October. Staff members and students visited Jwala Foundation and Arman orphanage for donating joy of giving collection on 1.11.18. Global Hand Washing Day was celebrated on 15 October 2018 at Shashkiya Hindi Prathamik School No. 16, Indore. A haemoglobin estimation camp for girls was organized on 29, 30 October 2018. A poster and slogan competition on “Antibiotic Resistance : A Global Concern” was organized on 17.11.18, to observe Antibiotic Awareness Week. The contest was judged by Dr. Jayshree Sikka and Dr. Pragya Rathore. Winners: Poster competition- Deepika Sawlani, Akanksha Kumari, Surabhi Porwal, Slogan competition- Shruti Ojha, Pallavi Chouhan. Botany and Microbiology departments jointly organized a voter awareness programme on 24.11.18. Dr. Sikka and Dr. Phanse motivated young voters of the college and enlightened them about the introduction of VVPAT in elections. World AIDS day was observed on December 01 during which an expert lecture by Dr. Pragya Rathore on “Together against HIV: Spread awareness and make a difference” and skit were organized. Ms. Golani convened event management of Patrika Vimochan on 3.12.18.

On 2 October 2018, Dr. G.D. Sharma completed 21kms half marathon UDAN in 2.23 minutes organized by Indian Institute of Management under the theme ‘A Run to Save Environment’. A medal and certificate was given to him. In ‘A run for democracy, run for vote’, organized by Indore district administration on 24-10-2018, Dr. G.D. Sharma completed 5km run to promote voting in state assembly election 2018. Dr. G.D. Sharma completed another 21km Marathon run on 02-12-2018 in 2.21min.s in Bhopal. He delivered an expert lecture on ‘Taxidermy’ at Kamla Nehru Zoo during Wild Life Week. Dr. Vibha Dave attended the same. Dr. G. D. Sharma was Presiding Officer in the state assembly election. Mr. Sanjay Sharma and Ms. Lucky Nahar conducted special extra lectures on Visual Basic and Java for the students of BCA Vth semester in months of Nov-Dec 2018. The department also arranged their practical sessions. A special lecture on World AIDs Day (December 1, 2018) was conducted for the students of B.Sc. I year by NSS wing. Mr. Govind Kaithwas was the program officer for the same. A movie ‘Earth is Angry’ on Environmental awareness was shown to students on 13 November 2018 by Mission Green & Swachhta Committee. Mr. Govind Kaithwas was one of the active members. A Software competition has arranged on 13/11/2018 for B.Sc. II year Computer Science and Information Technology students. Arvind Mansaure got first prize, he completed the given task within 25 minutes. The department displayed two posters in Knowledge Gallery under guidance of Ms. Manisha Shah on ‘Internet of Things’ & ‘Cloud Computing’. Ms. Manisha Shah was appointed as team manager for Kabaddi (Women) for district level inter-college competition held at New GDC, Kila Maidan, Indore on 04-10-2018.

The department arranged a talk on The Art of Start-Ups for students of B.Sc. I year, as part of their Entrepreneurship Development syllabus. The talk was delivered by young entrepreneur Mr. Sunny Wadhwani, founder and owner of Wadhwani Enterprises, also a cyber security expert, and was attended by more than 200 students. Some students of B.Sc. II year were taken to attend the talk by wildlife expert Mr. RS Murthy, IFS, Member Secretary/APCCF MP State Biodiversity Board at Pritam Lal Dua Sabhagraha on 5/10/ 2018. The Nature Volunteers, an NGO dedicated to environmental causes, had arranged the talk. Based on this talk, a power point presentation by Ms. Tanvi Ghamad, B.Sc. II year student was arranged on 13/12/2018 in the Computer Science lab. Environmental Studies is a subject taught in B.Sc. II year. Dr. Deepa Vanjani attended a National Seminar on Concerns of Literature organized by the School of Comparative Languages, DAVV, Indore on 8/12/ 2018. Ms. Kusum Joshi completed her Ph.D. course work from Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth Vishwavidyalaya. The pre-Ph.D. viva of Ms. Shweta Patidar was conducted at the School of Comparative Languages, DAVV, Indore on 1/11/2018. She is working under the supervision of Dr. Deepa Vanjani.

NSS Unit In order to aware public to participate in assembly election, college organized “Matdata Jagrukta Rally” from college campus to Chawni square on 16 October 2018. A motivational Nukkad Natak based on the theme of voter awareness was performed by NSS volunteers at different places in the city. On 24 October 2018 a “Marathon Run” was conducted by District Administration from Nehru stadium to Palasia Square to create awareness in the public to vote and to be a responsible citizen. In this Marathon NSS volunteer participated actively. NSS students of the college actively participated in the “Bicycle Rally” organized by district administration 26 November 2018 on the theme “Apna vote Jarur Kare”. This bicycle rally was organized from Nehru stadium to Regal square and back to Nehru stadium via Palasia square. On 1 December 2018, International AIDS Day, an “AIDS Awareness Lecture” was delivered by Miss Yogita Patle, coordinator at MP AIDS office. This lecture was organized in department of Computer Science.

NCC Airwing Unit One of the most prestigious All India Vayu Sainik Camp (AIVSC) was held from 22 October to 3 November 2018 at Jodhpur. Out of a team of twelve cadets from MP and CG Directorate, seven cadets were from our college. Their names are Chalcy Rajpoot (BT5), Nikita Bhadoriya (BT5), Shivangi Tiwari (M5), Madhav Soni (E5), Shakti Khedekar (E5), Jayesh Upadhayay (M2) and Himanshu Chourasiya (CS2). Contingent commander for this year is Fg. Offr. Manish Joshi. On the occasion of NCC Day (25/11/2018) cadets displayed an exhibition of different aircrafts at college campus. On the same day a blood donation camp was also scheduled at MY Hospital, Indore.

Dr. Pravin Kekre, Dr. Sanjay Shah, and Mr. Dron Mishra attended a National Conference of Physics & Chemistry organized by Holkar Science College in the memory of Dr. Dinesh Varshney on 28-12-2018. Dr. R.C. Sanghvi, Dr. K. Venkataraman & Dr. Sanjay Shah were appointed as Presiding Officers in Vidhan Sabha elections held on 28 November 2018. Dr. Sanjay Shah, Mr. Mayur Mota, Mr. G.C Dangi, Mr. Dron Mishra & Ms. Reena Bhatt attended the Vikram Sarabhai Memorial Centenary Oration organized by SVVV Indore on 18 December 2018. Dr. P.K. Dubey delivered a lecture on “Dynamics of Circular Motion” at Pragya Sagar College, Pachore for students in October 2018. He also delivered a lecture on Young’s Double Slit Experiment in a seminar for secondary school Physics teachers of Ratlam District, organized by IAPT RC-9 on 04 October 2018. He “Demonstrated some Fundamentals of Physics” in a seminar for under graduate students organized by IAPT-RC-9 at St. Paul Institute of Professional Studies, Indore on 6 October 2018. Dr. Sanjay Shah was appointed as judge in the Science exhibition at R.R.M.B. School, Indore. Mr. G.C. Dangi and Ms. Reena Bhatt have submitted their first six monthly Ph.D. progress report at SVVV, Indore on 29 December 2018. Mr. Dron Mishra attended a CATC XII Camp (N.C.C.) at Malwa Institute of Technology, Indore in October. He conducted a NCC Blood Donation camp of 2 M.P. ARMD. SQN. at Gujarati Innovative College of Commerce & Science in collaboration with M.Y. Hospital & HDFC Bank in November. He has submitted his third six-monthly Ph. D. progress report at SVVV, Indore on 29 December 2018.
