v As a part of social obligation, one day salary of employees amount to Rs. 3.40 crores has been contributed to Government of Kerala as Distress Relief Fund.
v A special Swachh Neyveli cleanliness drive from 3rd August 2018 to 14th August 2018 was arranged in which traders, housewife and school children joined along with CMD and other senior officials at various places in Neyveli.
v 21st Neyveli Book Fair was organized and which over 2 lakh people got benefitted.
v Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India has recommended for issue of Environmental Clearance for our Talabira II & III Coal Mine project and TPS II Second Expn. Project.
v 62nd Annual General Meeting of our company held on 30th July 2018 after obtaining NIL adverse comments from the C&AG for NLCIL and its subsidiary and Joint Venture Companies.
v As part of business initiative to increase our revenue, NLCIL entered into the business of Trading on Un-requisitioned Surplus Power (URS Power) through NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam limited and NLCIL now got its own license to trade.
I am also very glad that our company continues to pay attention in fulfilling our social obligations towards CSR with sustainable and inclusive development initiatives like promoting health, education etc. Anandam Illam, a home for elderly citizens which is being run with the support of NLC and its employees is standing testimony of our CSR commitment. In order to realize this vision, NLCIL has been associating itself by planning to enhance Mining Capacity to 93.15 MTPA and Power Generation to 21011MW, (non-renewable and Renewable Energy)

Shri Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary, Hon'ble Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Chaired the meeting. The Committee consisted of 24 Hon'ble Members and 2 Ex-Officio members. Dr. Inder Jit Singh, IAS, Secretary and Shri Suresh Kumar, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal were also present at the meeting.

National Doctors' Day is celebrated every year, to commemorate the Birth Anniversary (01.07.1882) of Dr.Bidhan Chandra Roy, who established the Indian Medical Association in the year 1928 and the Medical Council of India in 1934. National Doctors' Day'2018 Celebration was organized at our Hospital on 02.07.2018. Dr.S.K.Acharya, CMD, Directors Shri Rakesh Kumar, Shri V.Thangapandian and Shri R.Vikraman graced the occasion.Dr. G.Jayaraj, Dr.P.Dhanyakumari and Dr.K.Janardhan, Former Heads of our hospital were honored on the occasion.
Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadi Kendra (PMJAK) (Prime Ministers' People Drug Store) was also opened on the occasion by the CMD in the Hospital premise in the presence of the Directors. Shri Vikraman launched the' Box for Dropping
unused Drugs', near the Pharmacy of our Hospital and in his address said that the Physicians may prescribe essential medicines to avoid wastage and Bio-hazards.
The Government of India in an attempt to provide Generic Drugs equivalent to Branded Medicines to the masses at an affordable cost has launched the PMJAK.
The Scheme is launched through the Department of Pharmaceuticals. With the support from the Central Public Sector Undertakings for coordinating the Procurement, Supply and Marketing of the Generic Drugs, the Bureau of Pharma Public Sector Undertakings of India (BPPSUI) has been established. Dr. Munendra Kumar Jha, General Superintendent (Medical), Surgeons, Doctors, Nurses and Para Medics participated.
The 147th Operation Co-ordination Sub-Committee (OCC) meeting of Bengaluru based S o u t h e r n R e g i o n a l Power Committee (SRPC) was he ld a t Neyve l i . Shr i V. Thangapandian, Di rector (Power & M ines ) o f ou r company inaugurated the meeting in the presence of Shri S.R.Bhat, Member-Secretary, SRPC and Shr i V.Bala j i , DGM/Southern Region Load Dispatch Center on 10.09.2018 at Learning & Development Centre. Shri Thangapandian, in his address said that consumption of power is increasing when compared to last year as volume of power surrender by the
state electricity board has reduced. The SRPC provides advisory service to its members who run power stations and electricity boards operating in the states of Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and the Union territory of Puducherry.

The Directorate of Mines Safety associated with us in organizing the 20th Tripartite Safety Meeting at Neyveli on 30.06.2016. Tripartite consisted of the Directorate of Mines Safety, Safety Team & Physicians of our hospital, and the representatives of the recognized trade unions.
State Level Mines Safety Week 2018 Observed
The Final Day Function of the week was held on 09.09.2018. Shri Utpal Saha, Dy. Director General of Mines Safety, Southern Zone, Bengaluru, was the Chief Guest, Shri B.P.Singh, Director of Mines Safety, Chennai Region, and the Patron, TNMSA, Shri Shyam Mishra, Dy. Director of Mines Safety, Chennai Region and the Co-Patron of TNMSA, the Guests’ of Honor. “Safety record of Indian Mines Improving”, said Shri Saha in his address.
The 58th State Level Mines Safety Observance Week ‘2018 was organized in association with the Tamilnadu Mines Safety Association (TNMSA) (Under the Aegis of Directorate General of Mines Safety), Neyveli Zone from 03.09.2018 to 09.09.2018 at Lignite Hall, Neyveli. The week long function had foot prints of many employees, members of their family and general public to the exhibition at the grounds of the venue.
Zonal Level Mines Safety observance week was held at 675 Mines across Chennai, Salem, Trichy, and Tirunelveli Zones on different dates with Valediction at Neyveli. Mine-I and Mine-IA of our company won the Ist and runner-up position respectively in overall safety performance. Shri G.H.Kumar and Shri S.Kannan of our company won prizes in Oration & Singing Competition held in connection with the observance. Shri Saha released a souvenir and Shri Rakesh Kumar received the first copy. Neyveli School Students presented culturals. Executive Directors & Senior Executives participated.

The initiative was exclusively for the employees of Electrical Division in Mine-I, Mine-IA and Mine-II on 'Protective Relays and Cables'. Group enacted a skit on the subject. WIPS Swachch
Pakhwada activities and students went on a Door to Door
Campaign at Kurinchipadi and Mudhanai.
Shri V.P.Thandapani, Collector, Cuddalore District flagged off
a rally at Silver Beach, Cuddalore on 30.06.2018. The
Collector addressed the public on the subject and stressed the
importance of saving the environment while administering a
pledge on cleanliness.

Celebrations 2018
Shri Rakesh Kumar hoisted the Tricolor at the Stadium, took the Rashtriya Salute and inspected the contingents of the ceremonial parade, Rev iewed Order and took Genera l Sa lu te . Shri Rakesh Kumar accepted the Guard of Honor by the uniformed Men & Women of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Security & Fire Personnel of our company, Home Guards, Cadets of the National Corps, Scout Boys, Girl Guides and the Volunteers of the National Social Service from Schools and College.
Shri Vikraman Welcomed the Gathering. Shri Rakesh Kumar in his Independence Day Message paid homage to the freedom fighters who freed us from the British rulers. He thanked his predecessors and leaders for their contributions to build the company and said that our company has steadily grown over the years. He further said that our company has drawn Long Term Plan in Mining, Power Generation and Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives for the expansion of the development of our nation.
The 72nd Independence Day'2018 Celebrations by our company on 15.08.2018 was organized at the Bharathi Stadium in Neyveli Township. The Celebrations began with Shri Rakesh Kumar, CMD (Additional Charge) & Director (Finance) of our company garlanding the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the Township Administration Office Premises in the presence of the Directors Shri V.Thangapandian, Shri R.Vikraman and Shri N.N.M.Rao. Patrons of Neyveli Ladies Club and Sneha Oppurtunity Services Smt. Kanchan Rakesh Kumar, Smt. Devahi Thanagapandian, Smt. Shanthi Vikraman and Smt. Aruna Rao were present on the occasion.
Around 4000 students of schools of Neyveli presented colorful cultural. The Patrons of Neyveli Ladies Club visited the in-patients at our Hospitals, Distributed fruits and wished them speedy recovery.
The Trustees of the Neyveli Group of Temples organized Joint Worship and Common Dinner at Murugan Temple in Block-28, Neyveli Township. The Pandits of Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha,Neyveli Centre, presented certificates to the students at Lignite Hall in the evening on the same day.
Shri Rakesh Kumar and Smt Kanchan Rakesh Kumar honored the Senior Most Workman Shri A.Kaliyaperumal, Attendant Special Grade - A, Medical Branch and his spouse. Smt. K.Lakshmi. They also provided Tricycle sponsored by the Neyveli Health Promotion and Social Welfare Society to Shri Anbazhagan Sivakumar, Seplanatham and Shr i Arumugam Sekar, Melapudupettai .
Shri Rakesh Kumar said that by the year 2025, the company has plans to mine 9 crore 31 lakh 50 thousand ton of lignite and coal per annum and 2 crore 10 lakh 11 thousand unit (21,011 MW) power per hour through lignite & coal fuelled Thermal Power Stations , Wind and Solar Energy.
The patrons of Neyveli Ladies Club joined the Directors in giving away Loyal & Long Service Award, incentives for adoption of small family norms to employees. Cash Awards were given away to students in recognition of their Talents in Sports. Rolling Trophies were awarded to the platoons of the CISF. Awards were presented to Units/Divisions under various categories for up keep of the premises.

The 21st Neyveli Book-Fair'2018 was organized under the aegis of our company, from 29.06.2018 to 08.07.2018 at Book-Fair Grounds, Neyveli. Shri Banwarilal Purohit, Hon'ble Governor of Tamilnadu State and the Chief Guest of the function inaugurated the Fair in the presence of the CMD and Directors on 29.06.2018 at Book-Fair Grounds. 121 Publishers had put up stalls for sale of Books in more than 10000 titles in English, Tamil and Hindi. Around 50 thousand students from peripheral villages were allowed free entrance with soft drinks and Biscuits. Amusements were also arranged at the venue. Selvi Sowmiya, D/o, Shri S.Murugan, Spl. Gr. CH. Wcc. Opr. Mine-I represented the Tamilnadu Club in the India Contingent to Italy. She participated in the Women-Heptathlon consisting of 100 mts Hurdles, High Jump, Shot Put, 200 mts, Long Jump, Javelin Throw and 800 mts. at the 'MULTISTARS 2018' of the 31st International Meeting of Combined Events in Firenze-Italy on 27-28.04.2018. Sowmiya was placed in the 17th position with 5310 points. She also won the 'Personal Best Award' (Trophy and Certificate) at the event. International Association of Athletics Federations organized the World Combined Events Challenge 2018. Alumna of St. Joseph of Cluny MHSS, Neyveli, is a Commerce Graduate employed with the South Central Railways under Sports Quota.

OLICShri Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance) chaired the 65th and 66th meeting for implementation of the Official Language on 22.06.2018 and 21.09.2018 respectively at Corporate Office. Directors Shri R.Vikraman and Shri N.N.M.Rao were present on 21.09.2018. Heads of Units presented implementation reports for the months April-June 2018 & July-September 2018 with assignments for October-December 2018. The Director desired that review meetings may be organized at Unit level and the Committee Review Meetings on a monthly basis on the last Friday of the month. He also said that the Letter Correspondences, Notings and Officials’ Signature can be in Hindi.
Dr. D.Nageswara Rao, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya (Deemed) University, Enathur, Kanchipuram addressed the 65 employees on ‘Official Language Act 1963 & Rules 1976 and Simple Grammar and Notings & Drafting in Hindi’ at the one day Hindi Workshop organized at the Learning & Development Centre on 16.06.2018.
