Influencing Activities around the Globe
End User Innovation Day
It has been a great start of the year 2015 with the success of End User Innovation Day (EUID). EUID was a unique event,
which provided customer’s end-users an opportunity to voice out their feedbacks on a large variety of topics. Feedback
from customers and colleagues were overwhelmingly positive, and comforts us in the idea that this type of event is a
welcome addition: Participating customers rated the overall event 6,2 out of 7, and 100% of customers and colleagues
alike confirmed they would be interested to have such an event again in the future. As a quick summary of the event, we
had 96 user testing opportunities using 48 testing slots. A total of 120 people had gathered for the event, which includes
40 customers from 25 unique companies, engaging with 80 of SLI colleagues - speakers, volunteers and as organizing
committee members. This interaction included Roadmap sessions, and pods for innovation demos as well as for influence.
SAPPHIRE NOW & ASUG Annual Conference 2015 ahead
As already known from the last years, the combined event in Orlando/Florida covering SAP’s SAPPHIRE NOW and the
ASUG’s Annual Conference took place already in the 1st May week and again the Influencing topic was a major one driven
by the ASUG Influence team. We will provide more details on this in our next newsletter.
Tool News
Coming soon..
The Customer Influence site will very soon offer access to four influencing opportunities covering the complete SAP

Customer Success Story
SAP Influencing Programs: Customer Connection (CC)
Background & Objectives
The Department of National Defense (DND-Canada) is a member of the SAP Defense Interest Group (DEIG). The DEIG worked collaboratively with SAP Industry Business Solution Defense to identify DFPS Personal Equipment as a CC Focus Topic.
It was a combination of pressing business requirements and our earlier, successful experience with CC –specifically, a defense-specific Focus Topic, Mobile Defense and Security (MDS)
I attended most of the meetings including Kick-off, Selection Call and Final Call. I also attended one or two of the Testing updates.
Benefits
Of the 12 Improvement Requests, we expect to implement 9. Mass Issue and Mass Return will provide the greatest benefit in reducing transaction time; the Authorized/Actual comparison will ultimately prove to be very beneficial in identifying equipment deficiencies. Overall, these IR’s will greatly enhance the usability of the application
DND will upgrade to Enhancement Pack 7 in November 2015. Shortly thereafter, we will implement in the Improvement Requests. We expect our users to be pleased with the results
The results from our involvement with testing and the presentations that SAP has provided on the new functionality suggest that the product will exceed our expectations.
Experiences & Highlights
SAP support to CC was outstanding. Zeliha Dikmen, the CC Lead and Günter Schäfer from IBU Defense were highly organized, professional and knowledgeable about the CC process and the Improvement Requests. I have worked with Zeliha and Günter previously and hold them both in high regard. Much of the success of our CC is attributable to their tenacity and commitment.
Every aspect of CC is precisely laid out and followed religiously. Expectations were well managed from beginning to end; we were consulted extensively on the selection and prioritization of Improvement Requests; and encouraged to participate in all facets of the development process from selection to testing.
I have had two very positive experiences with CC and one negative experience. The negative experience related to a failure to adequately manage customer expectations on what would be delivered. But yes, overall, I would recommend CC because it is well managed, a collaborative and coordinated effort and delivers results in a short period of time.
CC is a great example of what can be achieved when SAP and its customers work cooperatively to achieve results and only succeeds when there is good communications and each party is highly committed.

Customer Success Story
SAP Influencing Programs: Customer Engagement Initiative (CEI)
Background & Objectives
We needed to improve on usage of SAP functionalities and understood the best practices to hand hold and connect. It was a mutually exclusive connection, driven by the related SAP development team directly.
My specific motivation when I thought about participating in such an influencing project was to learn about new innovations that are about to be released to the market and to be the first customers to experience SAP's innovations. It has been a pleasure to participate, learn and take part of improving the quality of projects as well as the software.
Benefits
In the SAP upgrade Pilot we are running knowing the right contact who does what in LABS ensures one stop solution and lt of time saving. We were able to get the industry best practices from the right authority. What are our freebees, as an enterprise customer and reports and evaluation all is available at one email or a ticket log.
As we got the learnings from previous customer experiences we planned the right resource/right time and hence the optimal budget. Running parallel development/quality for process improvement and importance of archiving are our best learnings.
New Data scrambling method in TDMS. Landscape Planner is been used.
I have learned the data scrambling technology in deep and tested the same. In addition, I got the clear insight over HANA and cloud technologies and got the knowledge, the key areas and benefits where I can efficiently utilize the same. Furthermore, I came to know the new features of testing automation tool.
Experiences & Highlights
We got to know about the new technologies, innovations and improvements carried out in various products and tested myself various upcoming products from SAP. Events that were hosted in parallel lines like PID, EUID also helped to connect with developer community directly.
I got the chance to work directly with the product development team, test the product with them, getting clarified, suggest and help them to improve the product quality. The CEI team was very cooperative, responsive and informed us about all the events they have been organizing without fail. Very helpful and proactive to explain and making us to understand the key takeaways of the event.
I was extremely delighted about the CEI process and the possibilities given, as I know what I will get before it is available in the market.
My personal message for others interested in influencing projects is: “Be part of the requirement. Be part of the process. To be sure of the outcome.”
