Dual Violins

Dual Violins is a fine oil painting conceived from a drawing made in the summer of 2012 during a Klezmer concert by the Jascha Lieberman Band in Krakow, Poland. While listening to his music the piece becomes alive; the candles quiver, the instruments

breath, a marble column becomes an accordion and the lines form a flowing interpretation of the sounds. A unique hand painted frame completes the work as an exciting, unique piece of legacy Fine Art.

Stephen ShoosterA graduate of the University of Florida in ‘82, Shooster is a lyrical storytelling painter. He is listed in Who’s Who in American Art and can be seen in various public and private collections. He is especially noted for conceptual pieces derived from music.

El Arenal - by Stephen Shooster

El Arenal the volcano located near La Fortuna, Costa Rica, hovers ominously over a well kept park in the city center becoming the inspiration for this painting. It is a simple design executed with finesse and masterful design elements echoing, Van Gogh’s, Starry Night by using a series of squared swirls similar to the design

patterns found on the clothing and crafts-manship of the region. Of special interest is the hand painted frame, a first for this technique by the artist. El Arenal is intended to be a legacy painting with an eye towards enhancing value by finding its place in art history.

He is listed in Who’s Who in American Art and can be seen in various public and private collections. Shooster visited La Fortuna, Costa Rica with his family in 2011. The completion of El Aranal is a fitting result of that special occasion.

Guitar on Fire

Guitar on Fire - A master drawing, modeled upon a fiery guitar gives the artist the liberty to explore the excite-ment of music. Fire leaps from the guitar as it rests on a figure, its neck and a horn melted by heat, at once unreal, playful and mischievous. Small

touches added to the overall design iconography establish its connection with art history. Guitar on Fire is a wonder to pon-der. This drawing was later chosen to become a large scale painting.

Tribute to Django Rienhardt

Tribute to Django Rienhardt is ded-ication to the gypsy guitar player extraordinaire of the same name. He is known for his mustache bridge guitar. Here you see two guitars like old men talking in a case shaped like a body. The lower case becomes Django and the upper one a singer, Cassidy Shooster, the artists’

daughter. Together they become the lovers serenade by a chello that is also tickling Cassidy’s toe. A playful painting, joyful and serene, accompanied by a unique frame completes a 21st century contempo-rary masterpiece.

The Party Favor

The Party Favor, is painted from a photo by Ze’ev Aleksandrowicz taken during the wedding of the daughter of the Tzadik Rabbi Halberstamm circa 1930’s in Galicia, Nowy-Sanz, Poland. It was part of about sixty photos taken that day. Completed to augment a book, The Horse Adjutant, also by the artist. This painting brings to clarity the coldness

of the times, the dy-namic energy of the old world Jews, and the coming electron-ic age as noted by the power poles. It is a playful yet ominous

race against time and nations. This work is exquisitely painted with subtle colors.

Stephen ShoosterA graduate of the University of Florida in ‘82, Shooster is a painter of Jewish heritage. He is listed in Who’s Who in American Art and can be seen in various public and private collections worldwide.Shooster is also the author of the book, The Horse Adjutant, the true story ofa Nazi Holocaust survivor. It received international fame by bringing the survivor back with his only surviving first cousin after 70 years!

Hello Friends

Hello Friends, is a hearty greeting and the title of a song by The Flying Flacongas, a now extinct indi band. The music was fresh, the players were both innocent and too old for their britches. One thing is for certain this paint-ing resonates with younger people. It certainly gets plenty of view-ing as it has found a home at the

University of North Florida in the re-ception area of the Administration building. Because of its placement, every new student is welcomed by this painting.Hello Friends, is an ode to Jam Bands, Creativity, Innocence and Youth while at the same time standing as a testament to a welcoming organization.

A Gift for Catholics

A Gift to Catholics, is a painting inspired by Saint Chappell in the heart of Par-is. During late afternoon they sponsor classical concerts within the walls of the venerable chapel. Listeners hear the strings while watching the changing light towards night magically transform the extensive stained glass and exotic woodworking. The original drawing was completed during a single musical session. Once in the studio this painting took on the

feeling of a construction zone. So many architectural lines and accoutrement. Throughout you can see icons of the State mixed with the church beckoning a time gone bye. The title comes from a dedication to Ka-mil and Agnieszka Kmak for their help in exploring the artist’s past.

Shark Valley

Shark Valley is a magical place where the alligators roam freely with people. One of Florida’s most exotic State Parks, Shark Valley is located on Highway 41 near the Miccosukee Indian reservation. During an excursion the artist took a candid photo back to the studio for a

stunning lyrical interpretation of the glorious day. The result is a gator poised to strike in an idyllic pond surrounded by palm fronds and limestone rocks strewn haphazardly, but, as a painting, it takes on a kind of visual poetry. Shark Valley is a legacy painting.

Frogs and Flowers

Frogs and Flowers is the result of a draw-ing session on the back patio of a Florida home. With just a simple metal lantern and a Cuban tree frog the mind of the art-ist gives the image a life of its own, a fan-tastical place that is dark, wet and full of life. Flowers interacting, a fantasy pipe or-

gan, a flute that spills music and a face that becomes a seed pod complete the image. Carefully crafted, the final image is breathtaking and the hand-painted frame places this piece over the top. Frogs and Flowers is a unique piece of art destined to appreciate in value.

Sax-O-Phony

Sax-O-Phony, using a pair of old Saxo-phones, the artist creates a kind of yin and yang interplay where everything is fluid. The figures, working together, bouncing on a wave, exploding with music. The flow of the painting creates a wave ac-tion, back and forth. Nothing sits still.

nautical icons filled with flowers on the instruments adding a playful feeling. A mystery ship floats in the center of the ocean as a bottle with a message floats in time and space.
