P u p p i e s m a y e a r n p o i n t s t o w a r d s a C e r t i f i c a t e o f M e r i t a t t h e s e c o m p e t i t i o n s . The Four-to-Six Month Puppy competition shall be for dogs that are four months of age and over but under six months on the day of the event. Classes will not be divided by sex in this competition. Neutered puppies may not be entered in this event.

Entry and eligibility requirements include: AKC registration number or an AKC litter number will be required for entries of an AKC

recognized breed as listed in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows. A foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin. All entrants are to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian’s

protocol. Dogs that are owned or co-owned by a professional handler may compete in this class, but

must be handled by a non-professional handler. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers’ organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay within the last five years. Dogs may not be exhibited by current assistants and household members of a professional handler.

PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES IS OPEN TO ALL BREEDERS AND/OR OWNERS OF SHETLAND SHEEPDOGS. SWEEPSTAKES WILL BE JUDGED PRIOR TO REGULAR CLASSES. THE ENTRY FEE SHALL BE $5.00 FOR EACH PUPPY. The Smart Dog Training Center is NOT responsible for information or directions concerning these events. Instead, contact SSCH Show Chair Bob Newman (832-683-0500 ), or Show Secretary Patricia Mims (281-344-9407), if necessary. ENTRIES CLOSE AT 6 p.m., WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 13, 2016 AT THE SHOW SECRETARY’S ADDRESS: MS. PATRICIA MIMS, 1603 WINDLOCH, RICHMOND, TX 77406. Entries cannot be accepted, canceled, or substituted after entries have closed at 6 p.m., Wednesday, January 13, 2016 as provided in Chapter 11, Section 6 of the “Rules Applying to Dog Shows.” Entry fees listed on page 5. ALL signatures for overnight deliveries for entries MUST BE WAIVED and the entry MUST be sent by FedEx or UPS. (Do NOT send overnight by the U.S. Postal Service.) Entries received without fees or signature cannot be accepted. Changes, additions or corrections to entry forms must be received in writing prior to close of entries. Those received by telephone are not acceptable. ENTRY FEES SHALL NOT BE REFUNDED IN THE EVENT THAT A DOG IS ABSENT, DISQUALIFIED, EXCUSED BY THE VETERINARIAN OR JUDGE, OR BARRED FROM COMPETITION BY THE SHOW COMMITTEE. No entry fees will be refunded if the Show cannot open or be completed by reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, an Act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, strikes or any other cause beyond the control of the Club. Transfers to different classes in Obedience and Rally will be allowed as specified in Chapter 1, Section 16a of the Obedience Regulations. The request for a transfer must be in writing and presented to the trial secretary at least 30 minutes prior to the start of each trial. ATTENTION OBEDIENCE AND RALLY EXHIBITORS: THE AKC RULES REGARDING PRACTICING OF DOGS ON SHOW GROUNDS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED. Only dogs that are eligible to be shown under AKC Rules will be allowed within the show grounds. Judges are not required to wait for dogs. Judges will adhere as closely as possible to the judging schedule. The owner or handler of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready at ringside when it is to be judged. Show and Committee Chairs may exhibit at this show. The Shetland Sheepdog Club of Houston and Smart Dog Training Center do not assume any responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by exhibitors, handlers, or to any of their dogs or property and further assumes no responsibility for injury to children. The welfare of an exhibitor’s child is the responsibility of the exhibitor. It is distinctly understood that exhibitors will exercise CONTROL and RESTRAINT over their children while attending these shows. Parents are responsible for any damage done by their children.

SHOW REGULATIONS, cont. RV OWNERS: There will be no overnight parking or parking of any kind of campers or motor homes on Smart Dog Training Center property or properties surrounding Smart Dog Training Center . Exhibitors are expected to honor any and all rules in effect at the Smart Dog Training Facility. AS SPACE IS LIMITED, NO EXERCISE PENS WILL BE ALLOWED INSIDE THE BUILDING. There is ample room outside the building for exercise pens. The show site will be available to exhibitors when the Show Committee has completed preparations for the show, which is expected to be approximately 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016. SSCH show hours will be from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 and 9 am to one hour after the judging of Best of Breed on Sunday, January 31, 2016. Crates and grooming equipment may be left in the locked building Saturday night, but exhibitors do so at their own risk. Security will NOT be provided. The Shetland Sheepdog Club of Houston and the Smart Dog Training Center assume no responsibility for anything lost or stolen. No dogs may be left in the building overnight. THE SHETLAND SHEEPDOG CLUB OF HOUSTON RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REMOVE ANY DOGS FOUND IN DISTRESS IN A VEHICLE ON THE SHOW GROUNDS AND ALL PERSONS ATTENDING THIS DOG SHOW HEREBY WAIVE ANY CLAIM FOR DAMAGES AGAINST THE CLUB FOR SUCH REMOVAL. Exhibitors should follow their veterinarians’ recommendations to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. The State of Texas is under a rabies alert. Proof of a rabies vaccination may be required. Tags are not sufficient for proof of vaccinations. NOTICE: The show-giving club reserves the right to cancel the events if extreme weather conditions threaten the well-being of dogs and participants, per the American Kennel Club guidelines issued July 28, 1995. The Shetland Sheepdog Club of Houston does not agree to arbitrate claims as set forth

on the Official AKC entry form for these events.

Effective for all events held on and after January 1, 2008, the AKC will collect a $3.00 Event Service Fee for the first entry of a dog and a $3.00 Event Service Fee for each additional entry of the same dog in the regular and non-regular recordable single entry classes, in all AKC licensed and member club events. The current 50 cent recording fee will continue to be collected. The event-giving club shall assume the responsibility of collecting all Event Service Fees for The AKC. (Rules Applying to Dog Shows, Chapter 11, Section 2) A $3.50 AKC recording fee will be required for the first entry and a recording fee of $3.00 shall be required for each additional entry of the same dog in Rally. (AKC Rally Regulations, Chapter 1, Section 5.)

From the North 610 Loop traveling East or West, take Exit 15 (TX-261-Spur/N Durham Dr/N Shepherd Drive). Go North on Shepherd Drive approximately 1.3 miles, make a U-turn at Thornton Road and take the first right onto Curtin Street. The show site will be on your right. If you are north of the 610 loop traveling on I-45 South, take exit 56B, TX-261-Spur/Shepherd Dr/ Little York Rd. Take North Shepherd Drive approximately 3.1 miles. Turn right onto Curtin Street. The show site will be on your right From HWY 290, take HWY 290 East to the I-610 North Exit. Merge onto I-610 East and travel about 2 miles to Exit 15 (TX-261-Spur/N Durham Dr/N Shepherd Drive). Turn left onto North Shepherd Drive and travel approximately 3.1 miles, make a u-turn at Thornton Road and take the first right onto Curtin Street. The show site will be on your right. The Smart Dog Training Facility will NOT give out directions to this event, but at www.smartdogtrainingcenter.com under drop down menu “locations” there are Google map directions.
