Club nominations were held at our b u s i n e s s
meeting this month and my congratulations go to Lion Jeff Smith who will be taking over my reigns as President in July. I also congratulate our incoming Directorship and I'm sure they will be giving Jeff all the support he requires for the new Lionistic year.
Lions Bingo held at our Den on Sat 28th March was another success and thanks to Lions and Ladies who helped out with transportation and the preparing of snacks and drinks for the afternoon.
Our preparations for our Lions’ show are now full steam ahead thanks to convenor Lion Jean and his show committee. So far plans to have the show at the Port Shepstone Country Club on the 2nd weekend in July are looking good.
Thanks go out to our Lion Ladies who effortlessly run their own projects behind the scenes. This month our Ladies have run community services to aid the likes of Cornerstone home for autistic children as well as preparing baby hampers, food for the Flower foundation and t h e c o l l e c t i o n o f clothing distributed to the Rape crises centre a n d R e i n h a r d t ' s Place. Well done Lion Lady President Anna Compion and your team of Ladies for your fine efforts
I wish our delegation of 6 Sheppie Lions representing our club a t J o z i T o w e r s Convent ion in the Randburg during the weekend of 2nd and 3 r d o f M a y a
successful and enjoyable Convention. It's a long way there and back so please be careful on the roads that weekend
Lion Denis Meyer turned 50 on the 10th of March and so did Lady Lion Bev Rolf on the 16th. Denis hosted a bash on Sat 14th at our Den where we pigged out on spit pork which Lion Kev Ross prepared delectably. Bev held her bash the following Saturday also at the Den and once again Kev was tasked to cook for the guests. A great time was had by all with plenty food, wine and music. Thanks to Denis and Bev for laying it on as well as the Lady Lions who put much effort into the décor for both evenings.
Our fellow Lion Mike Marshal underwent a horrendous 10.5 hr. operation on Friday 27 March. On behalf of the club I wish Mike a speedy recovery and hope he recovers fully. In closing I wish everyone a happy Easter and for those visiting family or friends far away to please travel safe on the busy roads during this festive season.

Dear Port Shepstone Lions,
We at Angels Care KZN , humbly acknowledge , The Lions Port Shepstone assistance , support , donations and Involvement towards our centre over the years , we see it as a mile stone in our existence on the South Coast .
The Big move from Paddock was a shock to us all , as well to our sponsors and our residents , decisions was madewithout consulting us In the matter , but it all worked out well . All our sponsors jumped in to make this move possible , and in a matter of twenty (20) days , every one , everything included furniture , assets and containers was moved and successfully relocated . At that point of time we already had a fully furnished house on a large stand in Elysium that was transferred from a diseased estate , into Angels Care's name . In order to accommodateall our residents we had to rent the house next door as well . So far so good !
We are still doing what we are doing best for the past nine (9) years , care for the homeless and destitute on the South Coast .And by the grace of God , we will take Angels Care KZN. to a higher level .
Once again thank you very much for The Lions involvement .
Please feel free to visit us at any time , we do understand that we are not under Sheppies jurisdiction anymore , but we are still grateful towards the Lions .
Warm Regards
Janndre Foster (Management Committee)

uring March, Club Community Services Director, Lion Jeff DSmith donated food parcels to Raj Mahabeer of Hibiscus Food
For Life on behalf of the Club. Hibiscus Food For Life was
established in 1993. They provide nutritious meals for 400 children
every Saturday at Mdlazi Primary School. This school is in a rural area
near Port Shepstone. The children are aged between 3 and 12 years.
They face extreme poverty due to unemployment. More than fifty
percent of the children come from child headed households.
Monthly Bingo Another successful monthly Bingo session was hosted
on Saturday 28th March. For many of the senior folk
who attend, this is the only social outing that they have
during the month and they really look forward to being
pampered by the Sheppie Lions and Lion Ladies.

Dear Lions, As Chairperson of your Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF), I have the privilege of traveling the globe to see the amazing work Lions are doing. Every day, you provide disaster relief, empower our young people and serve our communities. You also remain committed to saving sight. Whether you are conducting vision screenings, providing eyeglasses or medicine, you are giving the gift of sight. Together with LCIF and partners like The Carter Center, Lions have helped to restore sight to 7.7 million people through cataract surgeries; prevented serious vision loss for more than 30 million; provided over 271 million treatments for river blindness; built or expanded 660 eye care hospitals and clinics; and trained 681,000 eye care specialists and eye health workers. Congratulations, Lions! As we celebrate these achievements, know that there is still much work to be done. With your contribution, LCIF will be able to support Lions all over the world who continue making a positive impact in the lives of people who are blind or visually impaired. Thank you for commitment to saving and restoring sight. Sincerely, Barry J. Palmer Chairperson, Lions Clubs International Foundation
Barry Palmer with former US

pon hearing the news that Ian Jones, one of the South Coast’s favourite singers, was playing live at the Pont Pub on Saturday 7th
UMarch, a group of Sheppie Lions and their families decided to spend the weekend at the popular resort and enjoy some great
fellowship. Whilst some members camped, others decided to stay in more formal accommodation. Cruising up the river, fishing,
water skiing, braaivleis and live rugby on the big screen were the order of the day. The new “Crows Nest” tree house project is nearing
completion and project owners Lions Kevin Ross, Denis Meyer, Jeff Smith, Justin Hinchliff, and Jean Masson used this opportunity to
inspect the fine efforts of Lion Kevin Ross and his team of builders.

During a recent cruise to the Portuguese Islands, Lion Richard Borradaile and Lion Lady Jane Massey discovered this sign erected by the Lions Club of Tolagnaro at the entrance to the town. Proof that there are Lions Clubs in virtually every corner of the globe.
During a recent Lions Show Committee meeting, Show Convener Lion Jean Masson discussed the layout with Lions Gary Vogt, Jeff Smith and Andre Beneke.
