P.E.T.S. REPORT CHRISTMAS PARADE 2010

On November 20th, 28 members and family along with 23 of our four legged friends gathered
for our 22nd annual trek through the streets of downtown Milwaukee for the Christmas Parade.
The temperature wasn’t bad, a little cool early on, but it warmed up about parade time.
The day started with our traditional bloody Mary warm-up, compliments of Mike Los. Even
though Mike was unable to attend, he did not forget about his thirsty friends, as he delivered his
tasty mixture via Dave & Angelia Tojek.
We didn't get to meet Santa, but we sure met a lot people as we paraded through the streets.
With our dogs dressed in holiday fashion, we walked through the streets greeting and mingling
with the crowd.
Normally we have two customs the day of the Christmas Parade. The first one is our "TOP
DOG" contest, which consists of finding a suitable tree and seeing whose dog sprays the high-
est. I’m not sure how I overlooked having the tryouts this year….normally I enjoy embarrassing
Tim Brown (Luke doesn’t lift his leg). I’m sure that since Tim was off watching the parade I
overlooked the contest.
For the second year now Henry (Dave Tojek), decided to serenade us with his version of Christ-
mas carols while we were waiting to start the parade. Henry is quite vocal in his delivery and
I’m sure the K9 club was suitably impressed.
Our other tradition is the Chili Dump following the parade. Carol Lumley was kind enough to
open her house to us again this year. As usual for the GSDCW, we had another terrific spread
to feast upon.
