Brief
There is a requirement to provide direct access from the exterior to the cinema room in the basement.
We have looked at 2 options for locating stair access to the base-ment.
Layout 05 Locates the stair in the centre of the house off the main ground floor entrance and provides a direct internal connection to the basement area.
To provide an additional stair to the basement for kids from the garden an additional stair would be needed.
Layout 06Locates the stair in the centre of the house off the main ground floor entrance and provides a direct internal connection to the basement area as layout 05.
Access to the basement from the garden is achieved directly to the stair landing combining both routes.

Cinema Room
Brief
A good Home Cinema has to feature great pictures, immersive audio and most importantly it’s got to be easy to use.
We are assuming the screen on the wall, no clutter, no wires, one remote...”
So there is one control that will turn the TV on, set it to the right input, control the Sky, Virgin or Freesat box and start the movie playing.
Home cinemas should be controllable with a single remote control or touchscreen. Audio, Video, Games consoles, Satellite DVD & Blu-ray and Lighting should all be brought together in one simple to use interface.
All the sources that you might typically find under TV like a Sky Box or a Blu-ray player are placed in a central rack where they can be accessed and controlled from any TV location either in the ground floor family room.

Developing the Brief
This design has a stair down to the basement within the rear family room area with additional separate access to the garden from the lower level for the children.
A large family room extends over the width of the house with the kitchen integrated.
The design retains the columns to the external facade.
A study is located to the front of the house.
This design is similar to 6a with exception to making the cloakroom and Wc area reduced in scale giving back the space to the living family room area.
This design has a stair down to the basement from the entrance with separate access to the garden from the lower level for the kids combined.
A large family room extends over the width of the house with the kitchen integrated.
A study is located to the front of the house. The rear facade gently folds to allow more area internally and creates inter-est and sub division of what is a large space. The roof follows with a similar geometry.
