Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed the holidays, and I invite you to start 2016 with warmth and fun at the Sheila Ray Center, where there are many things to do in January and February.

We have monthly luncheons that are popular, as well as our Big Band Night, held the first Thursday of every month at the Garden Terrace. Speaking of Thursdays, please join us for Thursday Bingo where you may win a $20 gift card. For those of you who like to sing, I invite you to join the Ambassadors, our fun-loving singing group. Karaoke is available for those who just want to sing by themselves. There are various activities at the Center, but I want to highlight two new ones: a new yoga class that will be offered on Tuesday mornings at 9:00 am., and “History Comes Alive” for our history buffs will be at 10:30 am. They both debut on January 12. Be sure to bring a friend! Finally, tax season is right around the corner and AARP offers tax service at the Center. For more information, check with the Customer Service Office at the Hattendorf. Have a safe winter and come see us at the Sheila Ray Center.

Sincerely, Mary Leetzow, Advisory Board President

Dear Members,

As we start the New Year, I am excited for a new beginning. The Advisory Board is always looking at ways to improve the Center and increase the number of members. However, I must say in 2015, we had an exceptional year! We had a record breaking year for many activities, fundraising, and donations. The most wonderful part though is the friendships and the connection to the community that grow stronger each year. We love to see more members get involved with the Center, and we have plenty of volunteer opportunities, such as helping at the reception desk, at the monthly luncheons, or at the many special events we host.

I am sure as you have registered for programs and activities with at the Customer Service Office; you have noticed some new faces. Brenda Piscopo is leading our Customer Service team. She has mnay years of customer service and office management experience. In addition to Brenda, we have Liz Naumowicz, Rokshana Azim, and Julie Freitag. They join Kay Ryan and Rosa Russo, who have been with us for a while. All of these ladies are happy to assist you, so be sure to stop by and say “hello”.

Karen Sederberg is going to be serving the Center in a new capacity. She will continue to work with the Big Band Night on the first Thursday of the month at the Garden Terrace. Karen will also be assisting with the monthly luncheons and our High Tea & Fashion Show, which will be held on Saturday, April 23, so mark your calendars! Karen will be looking for models for this event so let her know if you are interested. Karen and Greg Palace make an impact with our programming, special events and trips. The attention to detail and fun are a part of their work.

Warm Regards, Cindy Sortino, Facility Manager
