Prerequisites: SharePoint 2013 requires the following Prerequisites to be installed on Windows Server 2012 prior to installing SharePoint 2013. The following is a complete list of the Prerequisites along with their download links. Please note that .NET 4.5 and Windows Management Framework 3.0 are also prerequisites and have been intentionally omitted from this list as they are both installed by default on Windows Server 2012. Obviously you need to download these from the Internet. This is the only portion of this deep dive that can’t be done offline. You’ll need to copy/save these into a location accessible to the SharePoint 2013 Prerequisite installer. See the next section for more details regarding their installation.

After downloading the above keep those in SharePoint Server ideally in Drive D, where you are keeping other installable for SharePoint.

Surprise: You need Microsoft SQL Server (Express) before launching your actual setup SharePoint 2013. Download this from Microsoft for free: SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe (64 Bit Platform).

Done, Now launch your Installer …………………. >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Surprise if you have issues like the following, kindly solve accordingly:

Sharepoint 2013 Prerequisite Install - AppFabric Error: If you get an error when installing the AppFabric prerequisite with the prerequisiteinstaller.exe provided on the Sharepoint 2013 DVD, check your PSModulePath environment variable. There could be a trailing double-quote : > C:\Windows\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\Modules\;C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\PowerShell\Modules;c:\Program Files\AppFabric 1.1 for Windows Server\PowershellModules" Delete it and re-run the installer.

FIXED – SharePoint 2013 Setup Error – Appfabric is not

correctly configured

When trying to install SharePoint Server 2013, I saw the below error. This was caused by manually double clicking the file “WindowsServerAppFabricSetup_x64.exe” instead of allowing the SharePoint Prerequisite Installer to run this. The resolution was to run “prerequisiteinstaller.exe” with command line parameters to directly specify the filename for each prerequisite. Just like with SharePoint 2010, when installing offline we must tell the installer where to locate each file. Running the various components manually doesn’t work well. Apparently there is an install sequence or extra parameters which “prerequisiteinstaller.exe” must perform for the prerequisites to install correctly. Below is the correct command line to use offline. I saved this as “prereq.cmd” on my install folder.

AppFabric Installation Failed on Windows Server 2012, MSI returned

error 1603

Issue:

While installing the preReqs for SharePoint 2013 i stuck at AppFabric installation when i got error

"Appfabric installation failed because installer MSI returned with error code:1603". After a long search I

found the solution which i am listing here as well.

Solution:

Open RegEdit and search "PSModulePath", you will be shown the following screen:

Right click PSModulePath and select Modify...

At the end of Value Data you will find an extra " which needs to be removed. Once removed, re try the

installation and it will be successfull.
